The "Freedom Fest" was staged on June 11, 1988 at London's Wembley Stadium as an anti-apartheid concert for Mandela's 70th birthday, a milestone that occurred while he was still incarcerated as a political prisoner in South Africa. He was released after 27 years on February 11, 1990.
