If we could save ourselves from eternal hell by a lifetime of doing "enough good",then we'd be our own savior,our own god, and we wouldn't need God to save us.How then can we ever expect to be saved if we reject the Savior?How then can we ever expect to enter heaven if we reject the God of heaven?Salvation is not a process we can carry out,but it's something God does for us the moment we trust Christ;s death on the cross in full payment for all our sins past.present and future sins.
