WD Fard, aka “Little Dion of the 60’s” composes and performs on piano and trumpet, his original unfinished Jazz composition. WD Fard’s big sister Barbara, coined the stage name, Little Dion after Deon Jackson, who sang the hit song “Love Makes the World Go Round”.
As a child, WD Fard was mentored by many mentors, i.e., Sunnie Wilson, Mayor of Paradise Valley, and his mother’s friend, Della Reese, Jackie Wilson, Mr. Harvey and his wife, Gwen Gordy-Faqua, Mr. Daddy Braggs, B.B. King, who would visit his cousin in Detroit, MI on a street called Townsend and Ferry two or three times every year. B.B. King would always tell Little Dion to finish school. Other mentors were Damon J. Keith, who is a Federal Judge, Congressman John Conyers, and his brother Nate, Prophet James F. Jones, Joe Battles, Jr., John Lee Hooker, David (Pop) Winans, Sr., Charlie Thomas and The former mayor of Detroit, MI-Coleman Alexander Young.
