The fall of the Berlin Wall was celebrated as a victory for freedom in many parts of the world. But in the meantime, new walls have emerged in places like Morocco - and these, too, are meant to keep some people in and others out.

To slow the flow of immigrants into the European Union, the EU has constructed an imposing barricade in Morocco. The Spanish enclave of Melilla is walled in by a six-meter high double fence with detection wires, radar and automatic tear gas dispensers. It's all intended to prevent African refugees from reaching European territory.
