This video is about departure. About leaving and not coming back, not now, never. Black and white artphotos with a sometimes extreme contrast were the startingpoint for this video. The images are meant to be individual symbols that, put together, tell a story. About departure, and therefore not a very happy one. The accompanying music is an alienated recording of an improvisation by the Städtische Philharmonie Sant Isengrim. Not a very happy sounding piece too and therefore just right for this video. Its title ‘Down, vain Lights’ is taken from John Dowlands well-known song ‘Flow, my tears’ as being published in 1600.
