It’s a solidarity project unique to Germany and even Europe. Launched and financed by a private foundation, the people of the German garrison town Holzminden write their names and messages on a two-meter yellow band. The pieces are then sent to the soldiers in Afghanistan where they’re put together to form a long 'band of solidarity' – which already stretches to some 200 meters.
