Civil war turned the west African nation of Liberia into a human-rights disaster. Especially women were frequently targeted by gangs of armed men. Most of them have never been prosecuted for their crimes.That is starting to change. A special police unit is now involved in chasing down sex offenders and bringing them to justice. Liberia is the first country in Africa to set up a court dedicated to prosecuting sexual violence crimes.
