This was a side project to give me a little sanity while I worked on Mega Man X6 100%. I'd actually done this run before, but my tape was corrupted. Fortunately, the final time of 11:54 is much better than my previous time of 12:43, so it was actually good that it happened.
All in all, the concept of this run is simple: launch the shuttle immediately after the intro stage so the final stages can be entered immediately. The run would have been a little shorter in game time and much shorter in real time if the Enigma had succeeded, but that has only happened for me once in the years that I've been playing this game, so I couldn't rely on it. In fact, the main reason I segmented this run is because almost every level has a boss that can completely ruin a run if it uses the wrong attack. In the intro stage if Sigma uses anything but the spray of blue shots, the run is ruined. If the Black Devil uses his attack where he forms rows of two and sends blocks back and forth, the run is ruined. If Rangda Bangda shows only a green eye and then immediately pulls the walls in, the run isn't neccasarily ruined, but is about 100 times harder to do at full speed. If final Sigma starts forming purple blocks early, it slows down attack speed considerably.
