CORNWALL GAY PRIDE 2010 : THEME: Circus
Cornwall (UK) PRIDE 2010 have chosen not to have a direct LGBT message but rather ‘Circus’ as its theme
Circus are historically & traditionally synonymous with FREAK SHOW exhibitions — such as those with extraordinary diseases, conditions or deformities from that considered normal and socially acceptable
Given gay people are still perceived as outcasts or freaks and not an accepted by many as part of ‘normal’ society Cornwall PRIDE 2010 chose ‘Circus’ as its theme,
Gay PRIDE came about as a result of the STONEWALL riot in New York against police homophobia. Some PRIDE events have degenerated into little more than hedonistic freak show carnivals
The gay rights & equality message lost, as those with primarily commercial and/or authoritarian self-interest take over running Gay Pride events, excluding many LGBT equality campaigners, groups & interests
