Indonesian Police Detain Six Suspected Militants

Six people are under arrest in Indonesia today for suspected ties to a jihadist group. Two of them are believed to be important militant figures.
On Sunday Indonesian police arrested six men who may be linked to a suspected Islamic militant group in Medan in North Sumatra Province.
They were taken into custody after their vehicle attracted the attention of a police patrol.
Two men were able to escape and are now being sought by police.
Police found maps of Sumatra Island and Medan City, but no weapons or explosives were uncovered.
The suspects will be investigated for links to a jihadist group in Aceh.
Police carried out a series of raids after a militant training camp was discovered in February and 43 suspects have since been arrested and seven killed. Among them, Dulmatin, an electronics expert who was one of the masterminds of the 2002 Bali bombings… shot dead by police on the outskirts of Jakarta last month.
An expert on Islamic militants at the International Crisis Group says at least two of those arrested on Sunday are important militant figures and one is believed to be close to the late Dulmatin.
