00:01:06Well it's tough to lead a team from start to finish the first start to finish win for the Thunder

00:01:12They were able to disrupt talented players like Donovan Mitchell.
00:01:15He had really an average game until that fourth quarter.
00:01:18They were able to like bottle up that painted area of that big front line of Mobley and Allen.
00:01:23And when it came to the really the little guys getting a mismatch underneath it came down to getting out
00:01:29in transition where they got a lot of fast break points.
00:01:32That defense has been such a hallmark of what this Thunder team has done and it's led to opportunities like
00:01:36this for them to get out on the run and get that easy offense.
00:01:40Well anytime you can build up such a big leagues as the Thunder did as much as 25 points.
00:01:44Now I got a lot closer late in the ball game but I thought the fast break points really set
00:01:48the tone early partner.
00:01:49And it led to some scoring as SGA another solid performance 42 points but he got some help.
00:01:55Of course A.J. Mitchell 23 Kenrich Williams has been so solid for OKC and the rookie Bennett Sturge added
00:02:0316.
00:02:03Tonight's opponent the Memphis Grizzlies they are one of the surprise teams in the NBA.
00:02:07They're off to a hot start at 6-2.
00:02:10They've been getting a lot of production from some of their young players but they've also got veteran Ty Jerome.
00:02:15But Michael it's been the offense and the defense for the Grizzlies that's been getting it done.
00:02:20Yeah that's why they won their first six games because they had such a lethal offense and defense.
00:02:24But they also folks they lead the NBA in three-point shooting as well as rebounding.
00:02:29And when you talk about shooting Ty Jerome former Thunder off to a great start averaging over 27 a game.
00:02:35And that talented young rookie in Cameron Boozer he's posting some solid numbers as well.
00:02:40Ty Jerome's taking his offensive game to a whole nother level.
00:02:43He's turning into one of the top scores here in the first two weeks of the season.
00:02:46But he's got some help from Cam Boozer number three overall pick.
00:02:50We'll hear from head coach Mark Degnaud when we come back to Memphis.

00:02:57Let's hear from Thunder head coach Mark Degnaud in tonight's OU Health Coach's Corner.
00:03:06The guard play you know that's been kind of a mark of coaches systems even dating back to his time
00:03:12in Europe is you know ahead of the snake guards that are super aggressive and that put a lot of
00:03:16pressure on the defense in the pick and roll game.
00:03:18So I think that is the system and it features you know point of attack ball handlers like like Ty
00:03:26you've seen Pippen in that role here Spencer you know those guys put pressure on the defense.
00:03:32They space the floor well and the other guys are ready to make plays when the ball comes out with
00:03:36advantages.
00:03:36So it is more systematic but it it's tilted towards the point guard for sure.
00:03:44And that is Mark Degnaud referencing Memphis head coach Tuomas Isolo and this high powered Grizzlies offense.

00:05:06Now the Thunder's going to play the Grizzlies.
00:05:09Then the Clippers, the Pelicans, and the Timberwolves in West Group B as you see in our Ford Fact.
00:05:15Those five get to try to advance to the knockout stage.
00:05:18And guys A.J. Mitchell told me this morning that they know that this is going to be an energy
00:05:22game.
00:05:22Here in this building against this Grizzlies team.
00:05:25He said the Thunder wants to start off strong and set the tone right away.

00:05:37Okay, so he's had a lot of success in these type of games.
00:05:40Well, and you know, they've been here before.
00:05:42And obviously the Grizzlies have been pretty good too as well.
00:05:44But the Thunder had some solid wins in this cup.

00:12:14this Memphis team offensively likes to utilize its guards in the pick and roll.

00:15:41I thought the Thunder have done a great job over the last week of the season being able
00:15:44to rebound to basketball, which leads to those fast break points.

00:15:53In case you're wondering why the Grizzlies floor looks a little bit different, you'll

00:20:59And Thunderhead coach Mark Dagnall said that A.J. Mitchell has done a great job navigating

00:21:06And a great example of that is how productive he's been able to be offensively, despite the
00:21:10fact that he is shooting well below his average from three this season.
00:21:14He is coming off a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, where he put up 23 points.
00:21:18He now has four games this season, scoring over 20.
00:21:21And Coach Dagnall said that despite the fact that his three hasn't been falling, he's remained
00:21:24aggressive and inside of his game, which is really impressive, guys.
00:21:28Yeah, thank you, Paris, and his game is only going to continue to get better as he gets
00:21:33more and more playing time.
00:21:34He's still just in year number three.
00:21:36Well, you're loving that, too, because he understands the game.
00:21:39He's got the experience, and he's taking advantage of the opportunity.
00:21:43Well, look at all the traffic that's falling shade.
00:21:45Spencer was guarding him, and now he's got another defender that runs into it and takes him off.
00:21:52Heavey, freshly into the game, no good on that three.
00:21:56Most was able to keep the Dymara off the glass.
