00:07Hey guys, we'll start with Dan.
00:09Thank you, George.
00:10Afternoon, Michael.
00:12I thought I'd ask you about something slightly different today.
00:14It's for Alex Ferguson.
00:15It's his 40th anniversary since his appointment at this club.
00:20I just wonder, can you talk about what he was like for you as a player,
00:23but also what was he like as a person for you during your career,
00:27but since then as well?
00:30Well, what's not been said already?
00:34I mean, it's something definitely worth celebrating as a football club.
00:39It's 40 years this week since he came here,
00:42the impact and everything that he kind of was driven for him,
00:49for the football club moving forward, for all the time that was here,
00:52and that is kind of left for others to carry forward.
00:59He's incredible, you know, and I'm probably closer to him now
01:04and speak more to him now than I did when I was playing.
01:07I think the relationships change over time, and that's only natural.
01:12He's, well, ever since I came here, you know,
01:15the impact he had on me as an individual was immense
01:17and not necessarily directly as in talking all the time
01:21and advice all the time.
01:23Personally, it was more of just the influence that he had
01:26and the habits that you kind of try and pick up from him,
01:30as did everyone around the football club over that period of time.
01:34And then you kind of move on and evolve a little bit into a friendship, really,
01:38which is really nice.
01:40So, yeah, it's just the impact that he's had
01:43and he'll continue to have in this football club.
01:46There might be some comparisons drawn by an early moment in his career
01:50as Manchester United manager, the Mark Robbins goal in 1990.
01:53More comparisons, yeah.
01:54More comparisons.
01:55You always find something to compare.
01:56No, of course.
01:57But I suppose the point being, when you look back at the Roma game,
02:02how much can that maybe be a moment for this team,
02:06the way it happened, the atmosphere at Old Trafford,
02:08how much potential is there for that to be a moment for this team
02:11to take that forward?
02:14It's up to us to take it forward.
02:15You know, it was a fantastic night.
02:18It was a one-off night.
02:19It was a fantastic night, I think, as it kind of unfolded
02:23and the game developed to finish so strongly
02:25and for large parts of the game played very, very well and deserved.
02:29It wasn't all of a sudden that we scored some goals from nowhere.
02:32I thought we played really, really well and deserved the game.
02:37And it was nice to end like that.
02:38It was nice for the supporters to end like that
02:40and to have that feeling 100% for sure.
02:43It was a good night for us all.
02:45But, you know, nothing's done yet.
02:48Nothing's achieved yet.
02:49And it's one moment really in time that we need to use
02:53and we need to, yeah, we need to use to move forward.
02:58But we need more of it for sure.
03:00Simon and then, Andy.
03:03Michael, Ruben Amorim, when he was manager, said
03:06there were times when he'd set off to come to Old Trafford for a game
03:12and he didn't know what Manchester United team he was going to see.
03:17At Chelsea, you were excellent in the first half,
03:20not so good in the second.
03:21And on Tuesday, not so good in the first, excellent in the second.
03:25Do you know what to expect from your player?
03:30Actually, when you watch the game back, I think the first half,
03:33it wasn't so bad.
03:36There was moments in there where we left ourselves short, really.
03:39But they're the moments that we've got to clean up on
03:42because I think it's been little moments here and there
03:46that have changed games for us, which is football
03:48and that's something we have to manage.
03:53But certainly taking the first half of Chelsea was very, very good
03:56and a good chunk of the game the other night was really good.
04:00So I think showing that, we've definitely shown signs of improvement,
04:04no doubt, in that respect.
04:06And we've got to take that moving forward.
04:07And just on Sir Alex, he was given time.
04:11It's a different world now.
04:13Is it, like, it's unrealistic to expect that people are going to get
04:21as much time as Sir Alex got to create what he did?
04:27The game's certainly changed, no doubt.
04:29It always does.
04:31It evolved and it had evolved to the stage probably after Sir Matt
04:34and the years after that to then Sir Alex.
04:36It evolves all the time, that's how it is.
04:38It changes, we've got to deal with what's in front of us.
04:41We've got to deal with what's in front of us.
04:43That's why, you know, the comparisons I get, I understand.
04:47There's always different things to compare,
04:48but it's always, we've got to live in the present as well
04:51and definitely use past experiences to help us.
04:55But time, patience, patience.
04:58But we're all desperate to win football matches
05:02and win them as quickly as you possibly can.
05:04Andy?
05:05Hi Michael, you've said in a few press conferences
05:09the team have trained well, you've had a good week
05:11and the fans have listened to that
05:13and then the game's followed where there hasn't been a victory.
05:16Against Roma there was a victory.
05:18Do you, have you sensed in the last couple of days
05:20something more tangible having won that game from the players?
05:24Have you seen the confidence up in talking about it?
05:27What's the reaction been like after that Roma game?
05:30Yeah, I mean, it's obviously a positive reaction and it's, again,
05:35it's not like all of a sudden we're getting carried away.
05:38I have seen enough from the players.
05:41I know what we're capable of.
05:42I've said it enough.
05:43I know exactly what we're capable of and we all do.
05:45You know, you've seen it from a different perspective.
05:49You know what we're capable of as a team.
05:53We've proved it over time.
05:54We've just not proved it enough lately.
05:56But we know it's there.
05:58The boys have trained really well.
06:00It's, you know, I'm not just saying that for the sake of saying it.
06:04If we weren't, I'd say it.
06:05The boys are training really well
06:07and we've just got to get more of the moments that we've had
06:12with the halves of football and maybe a bit more the other night.
06:14We've got to keep building on that.
06:15But it's definitely there.
06:19Michael, we were talking about Sir Alex before
06:20and obviously you're a huge part of the success that he had as a manager here.
06:23How difficult do you think it is for the modern Manchester United
06:27to live up to those standards?
06:30There's a lot of winning, a lot of trophies and a lot of success.
06:34It's difficult to bring success.
06:37It was difficult then.
06:38It's difficult now.
06:39It takes a lot to put that into, to bring that into play, you know,
06:44and it just shows you how tough it is to sustain success,
06:49never mind moments of success.
06:51So, again, we've got to live in the moment.
06:54We know what we've got to do and where we've got to be pointed to it
06:59to bring success week to week in games
07:03and then things fall into place.
07:05If you do that enough, then you'll bring a bigger version of it.
07:09The thing is, though, that version is so big
07:12and times have changed, like you said before.
07:14So, to be sort of judged by those standards, to be held to those standards,
07:19even looking at the way, you know, some of your former teammates and friends speak now
07:22who had the same experience as a player as you did.
07:25I mean, how impossible is it for everyone here to be able to be held to those standards?
07:30It's not impossible.
07:32It's not impossible.
07:34Anything's possible.
07:37You've got to build, you know, you've got to build.
07:39You've got to be realistic.
07:40You've got to put things in perspective as well, you know,
07:42and the recent history that we've had and where we want to get to,
07:47it's not going to happen in a blink of an eye.
07:50It's not going to happen overnight, you know.
07:52Success does take time and we don't like having to spend time,
07:55but it does take a period of time to build.
07:58We showed a really quick response and proved a lot last season
08:02and, you know, it shows that what is possible,
08:06but again, sustaining it is the key.
08:09Consistency is the key.
08:10There's no other way of doing it.
08:12There's no shortcuts to it.
08:14And in the end, that's where you get to,
08:17but it's definitely possible.
08:21Hi, Michael.
08:23Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made an interview
08:24with a Norwegian broadcaster this week,
08:27giving you a lot of backing
08:28and also saying that there's a devil within you
08:30that the outside doesn't see as much.
08:33What's your response to his interviews?
08:36I've not seen it,
08:37so I don't really know too much about it, to be honest.
08:42So it's difficult to respond, really.
08:45I don't think there's too many people
08:47that actually know me, really.
08:49Ole's probably one of them,
08:50because being close to him
08:52and working with him for a period of time,
08:54but there's probably not a lot of people
08:56that really, really know what I'm like
08:57and that's just the way it is, really.
09:01I don't know what else I can say about that.
09:02You might be a devil in there.
09:04I don't know.
09:05I don't know, maybe.
09:06You also spoke a little bit about January,
09:08that the two of you had a dialogue
09:10when you were both kind of into maybe getting the job.
09:14Could you elaborate a bit on that,
09:17how your contact was back then?
09:19Listen, we're friends, you know,
09:21we're close friends.
09:22We're still in contact now
09:23and I've seen him not long ago
09:24when we were in Norway pre-season.
09:27So, yeah, of course,
09:29we're close and we stay in contact a lot.
09:32And lastly,
09:33he doesn't give a lot of interviews,
09:35but do you make up a timing
09:36that he goes out and speaks about
09:38that he wants to go back in managing
09:40and that he feels that
09:41there's something missing also
09:42from his time here,
09:44Man United as a manager?
09:46I've not seen the interview,
09:47to be honest,
09:48it's difficult to comment on,
09:50but Oli's a fantastic manager,
09:52he's a fantastic person
09:53and if he wants to come back into the game
09:56and get back into the game and manage,
09:58it'll be great to see him back.
10:01Michael,
10:02is there an update on the severity
10:03of Carlos Beléber's injury
10:05and can I also check on
10:06the other players that have been missing lately?
10:08Yeah, Carlos,
10:09we don't know exactly,
10:10but it'll be a number of weeks,
10:11yeah,
10:12it's definitely not this week
10:13and it won't be any time
10:16over the international break,
10:18it'll be a little bit longer than that.
10:19And so Rashford,
10:20Shaw, Doggy?
10:22Patrick's done a little bit
10:23of training this week,
10:24as you've seen him,
10:25we trained with us
10:26at the start of the week,
10:27very, very, very small,
10:28so we've got to be patient with Pat,
10:31you know,
10:32he's had a good period of time now
10:34with a couple of hamstrings
10:36that we need to manage that
10:37and be patient with that
10:38over the next few weeks as well,
10:40but he's slowly getting back with us,
10:43so we'll have to see
10:44whether he can be involved
10:45at the weekend or not.
10:47So about using Wednesday night
10:49as something to build on,
10:50yet to win successive games this season,
10:53why has that momentum
10:54been so hard to find?
10:56Oh,
10:57you've just got to do things
10:58better for longer,
10:59you've got to do things
11:00better for longer,
11:00periods and times,
11:02certain games,
11:03when you look in your day
11:03and like we do
11:04and you look back
11:05and you think,
11:05what could we improve,
11:07what do we need to improve on,
11:08what have we lacked,
11:11it's been certain moments,
11:13little moments in games
11:14that we maybe haven't
11:16been quite ready for,
11:17we haven't made good decisions
11:18or that's part of football,
11:21but we can do that,
11:22we can be consistent with it
11:24and of course,
11:25you know,
11:25when we came in January
11:26and this hadn't been done before
11:28or whatever,
11:28that hadn't been done before,
11:29it's like I've just said before,
11:31anything's possible,
11:32we can win more games of football
11:35but we've got to go and earn that
11:37and ensure we can do it.
