00:36Mason's back with the group, which is fantastic.
00:42He's an important player for us, Mason, and to have him back and involved I think is a good step
00:48for us, definitely.
00:49He's not 100% in terms of back because he's only trained a very small amount of time, but he's
00:56back and that's good for us.
00:58We'll see whether he's involved or not on Sunday, but it's a big step for him, so we're happy with

01:21I just wondered what that interaction was like if you can share a little bit, but also your experience at
01:27this club and your relationship with past teammates.
01:31How much can that help defuse maybe situations like that that maybe in the past do get kind of exploded
01:37a little bit more noise on the players?
01:38How important can that be?
01:41It wasn't often really.
01:44There's nothing to say about it really.
01:47I think that's just where we are in terms of social media and things and captions and quotes and it
01:54can be taken in different ways.
01:56So just be calm about it and understand actually what the real meaning of things.
02:02So listen, there's different opinions out there, you know, and it's fine.
02:05People can have different opinions.
02:08It's just things get taken way out of one extreme to the other and it is what it is, but

02:19You managed Morgan Rodgers at Middlesbrough.

02:24Have you been surprised at all at the sheer speed with which he's become such a key sort of Premier
02:31League and indeed international player?
02:35Yeah, listen, first of all, it's fantastic for me to see Morgan going on to do so well.
02:41Man, he's did it for a good period of time now, you know, and he had the initial signing in
02:46January and wasn't really sure how it was going to go.
02:49Well, it was a step for him and hadn't really played for an awful long time at Middlesbrough really.
02:57So naturally he felt probably he could have done a little bit more, but as soon as he's gone to
03:03Aston Villa,
03:04he's taken huge steps and quickly and being a major, major part of their team and part of the England
03:09team as well.
03:10So it just shows how well he's done.
03:13We could always see what he was possibly going to be capable of and the potential there in terms of
03:19what he could do,
03:19his attributes, where he carries the ball, play off his left foot, play off his right foot, create, score goals
03:25and really good athletically.
03:27So there was a lot of things there, positives obviously why we took him to start with.
03:31But to see him go on and have such an impact would probably be more than I would have expected,
03:40probably more than Morgan himself would have probably expected, I think.
03:44It's great to see him, I enjoy seeing him do so well.
03:49Obviously when we come against him it's a different story, but nevertheless he's a good person,
03:54he's a really great to work with, so I'm delighted he's doing so well.

04:02You were here when he signed, he scored two goals in the three games under you,
04:05it seemed at that point like he was going to have a really good career at United.
04:09Are you surprised at the way things have worked out in the last few years?
04:14You can never be surprised with anything in football.
04:17I think it's one of those things, sometimes you come to a club,
04:22sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't quite work.
04:25That's natural, it happens at every club.
04:28Jadon's got talent, you know, that's why he came to the club to start with
04:31and he's had some really good moments and for whatever reason,
04:35I don't know, I've not been here for a period of time.
04:38He's ended up finding himself at Aston Villa,
04:41so he had obviously a good spell at Dortmund as well in the Champions League final.
04:46He's certainly got talent and he's playing a lot this season,
04:50so credit to him for that and he's having an impact and playing a lot of games.
04:57What happens next and how we move forward then, we'll just have to wait and see.

05:02Hi Michael, you began with two massive games,
05:05I mean I'm sure you'll see every game is a big game.
05:07Given the fact you're coming off your first defeat
05:10and given the situation at the top there with you and Villa at the points
05:13on qualification for the Champions League,
05:15is this the biggest test maybe since your first couple of games?
05:19I think we're always in the test, you know,
05:21I think it's always about what's next, what you're going to react,
05:24whether you've won, whether you haven't won, whether you've drawn,
05:26what's going to be the reaction, what's the group, what's the emotions in it,
05:30how do we make the best of it, what's the motivation for the next game
05:33and driving that forward.
05:34So I understand with it being the first defeat, if you like,
05:38it feels a little bit different but it's going to come at some point.
05:43I think you look through the league, it's a tough league,
05:46most teams if not every team has suffered that in recent times,
05:49so it's putting things in perspective really and kind of putting it in shape
05:55where we know where we can improve, what we can do better,
05:58we're taking a lot of confidence from as a group what we can
06:01and what we show we can achieve and how we can play.
06:04So it's been a really good week in many ways and excited,
06:10it's an important game, there's no getting away from it,
06:12it's a fantastic game, we put ourselves in a position now
06:14where there's an awful lot to play for and then,
06:18so yeah, really embracing the situation at the moment
06:21and looking forward to the next game.
06:24Hi Michael, JJ Gabriel trained with the first team again this week
06:27and he's obviously been incredible over the last few months,
06:30would you consider putting him in the matchday squad this season?
06:33He's not allowed, he's too young.
06:36How difficult has it been for the club to manage the attention
06:39that he has got over the last few months?
06:42He's doing really well JJ, we've got some really good young players in the academy
06:46and we try and get the younger players up as much as we can
06:50and the 21s are kicking off in 25 minutes as well,
06:54so we're looking forward to finishing this and going to watch them,
06:58I'd much rather be here I must say.
07:01So yeah, we're always trying to expose and give that exposure to the players
07:08to come and train and feel it.
07:09JJ's a big talent, it's pretty obvious to know that
07:13and he's had a really good season for the under-18s
07:16and we're obviously thinking of a lot of him but patience is important
07:19and managing everything that comes with that
07:22and working with him with development as we do with all the different age groups
07:28and younger players and picking the right moment to step up,
07:31picking the right moment to leave them in a certain place and ups and downs
07:35but he's done well, he's trained, he's done well as you'd expect
07:38and it's good to have the younger players come up with us.
07:42Hi Michael, Harry Maguire's been back in the team a couple of months now
07:46and obviously been a big part of the early successes you've had.
07:51He's 33 now, there's an England squad next week,
07:54I wouldn't expect you to try and pick Thomas Tuchel's squad for him
07:56but is Harry showing the sort of form you would have expected and hoped of him
08:01and sort of peak Harry Maguire if you like?
08:05Harry's been playing well, I think, yeah, it's pretty obvious to say that.
08:10Considering you look back not too long ago he was out for a considerable period of time as well injured
08:15so he came straight back in when we arrived really.
08:20So there's been a little bit of managing him as well through the weeks and the games
08:25and how we've had that and getting him right up to speed if you like physically.
08:31I think he's just showed his experience in situations, the composure,
08:36know what it feels like, understands what it takes and he's done ever so well.
08:43Whatever's going to happen with England is going to happen with England
08:46but he's definitely put himself back in the frame if he was ever out of it.
08:50He's definitely in the frame and hopefully from my point of view he gets picked and he goes.
