01:35fait !
02:14A pair of hard-hitting affairs in our semi-final and main event here tonight.
02:20Well, it was Taichi just earlier on saying to Okada, don't pray for a delay and a postponement for tomorrow
02:28night.
02:29We're not going to have to wait for Evil and Ishii to tear into one another.
02:34A lot of ill will, but the heart of it all. Evil 0-3 against Ishii since his return.
02:41And he's entering into Los Ingobernables de Apon.
02:45A lot of heart, a lot of will. He's got it all together. He just needs results. There's Evil against
02:51Ishii.
03:01Evil exercise, the demon that has been Tomohiro Ishii. An opportunity several occasions, three times since returning from excursion.
03:14Coming close, but coming up short in big spots. This is an important match, Geno, for both men as they
03:21begin to build momentum here on the new beginning for 2020.
03:26Yeah, you're right, Kevin. When you think about it, form, guide is everything. And unfortunately, Evil's going into this match
03:330-8 against Ishii.
03:36All time, even pre-Evil. Yeah, it is a scary thought that Evil will definitely be thinking about.
03:42But how important and how much a win will make here rolling into 2020.
03:52This match will be played in 60 minutes.
03:57The match will be played in 60 minutes.
03:58This match will be played in the blue corner of Los Ingobernables de Apon. King of Darkness.
04:04Sapporo has been kind to Evil, a 7-2 record overall in Sapporo, including 2-0 in singles, a five
04:12-match winning streak dating back to new beginning 2018.
04:16Thanks, Chris Samsa, sportaprowwrestling.com for the stats, helping us out.
04:26You know, Taichi was saying, as he ran down Hokkaido, saying, you know, don't postpone that match with Hokkaido because
04:34my payoff's not cheap.
04:37I think all the fans are going to get their tickets worth with the last two matches tonight.
04:42When last we saw Tomohiro Ishii in this venue, it was during the G1 Climax tournament.
04:48Earlier in July of 2019, a victory for Ishii.
04:56Overall, he'll come in five and three.
04:59So both then with winning records here in this venue.
05:03But this deeply personal, also too, Chris, the background and history has come into play with Evil's use of the
05:15Scorpion Deathlot.
05:16A shot across the bow at Ishii's trainer.
05:20Well, Tomohiro, Ishii was trained and brought up by Genichiro Tenryu and predominantly Riki Choshu, who discovered him in WJ
05:29and brought him over to New Japan in 2005.
05:34But Riki Choshu embodies a Showa spirit, an old school spirit and a New Japan strong style spirit that belongs
05:42to Evil in his mind more than it should Ishii.
05:46Made in New Japan is the standard that Evil holds himself to.
05:54In both Australian tours, I met both men in an accident, I've got to say.
06:02They both hit as hard as the other.
06:04I was just about to ask you, who hits harder?
06:06I'm going to be honest, not that I remember much, but both men are such clean and strong strikers.
06:14I fear for the outcome of this match, Kevin.
06:25A rivalry built predating both men as Sho has joined the Japanese commentary team over to our right.
06:34And when you have Red Shoes Uno as your official, he'll call for the bell.
06:39And our semi-final here, night one of Sapporo is underway.
06:46They last met in May, wrestling Dontaku in singles action.
06:52As Evil starts quickly and kicking in the midsection, he takes the side headlock.
07:03And a collision, these two men mirror images of the other when it comes to style.
07:16And we will see collisions and heavy shots.
07:20Just two big balls going at it.
07:30And Chris, for all the changes in the modern athlete, the modern style, whatever, this is a throwback.
07:37Absolutely, I mean, it's a strong style approach of straight out forward aggression.
07:46And they're just standing there.
07:49Just no reaction from each other's shots.
07:56It's much about being the first to break, about being the bigger man in this contest than Isabel.
08:01Dammit.
08:03Evil, rocked.
08:08Now the misdirection play, but Ishii was ready.
08:11And now Ishii taking a misdirection approach of his own, but Evil was ready.
08:15And he propels Ishii down to the mat.
08:17There will be no playing possum.
08:19There will be no lying in wait.
08:20It will be taking your opponent's best shot.
08:23Swallowing all that pain.
08:25And delivering your hardest shot possible.
08:29There was just that moment there, Ishii saw red shoes.
08:32And gave that split second for Evil.
08:34And now, Evil taking full advantage.
08:39One more time for Evil.
08:41Watch out to our camera crew as well.
08:44As Ishii hits the barricade, but comes forward.
08:48My God.
08:49I've never seen that.
08:51Ishii took the full force of the guardrail into his back, but used his momentum to shoulder tackle Evil.
08:59Able to internalize all that pain.
09:05And now it's Ishii taking the chair out.
09:09The extra chairs they keep under the ring.
09:11Many times it's Evil that uses them right in front of the referee.
09:18And Red Shoes trying to play it with Ishii, but...
09:22Oh my!
09:24Ishii punching that chair directly into the skull of Ishii.
09:30Tell you, it's the right official to have for this kind of match because Red Shoes has got a very
09:35long whistle as we know.
09:37And he will not call a match off, especially in a big spot like this.
09:42I think it would do more damage if he did.
09:45You're kind of going to let these guys go at it now!
09:47Oh my God!
09:51With the chair wrapped around the skull of Ishii, thrown into the ring post.
10:04Sapporo saw a wild slugfest in our tag team matchup.
10:09That was right before this one.
10:14And...
10:15We have started off in the exact same vein with Evil and Tomohiro Ishii.
10:30Neckbreaker.
10:31Got him.
10:33He'll float over into the cover.
10:35Red Shoes is there to kick out at two.
10:37Our first pinning combination of the match.
10:39Coming into this contest,
10:42Tomohiro Ishii has been on a four-match singles losing streak.
10:48His last singles victory back on August the 4th against Toriano in the G1 tournament.
10:54Evil enters this match a three-match losing streak in singles competition.
10:58So something's got to give here his last victory August 3rd against Will Ospreay in the G1.
11:07Ishii now...
11:09Using the back of his head to try and break this whole but Evil wrenching back on that neck.
11:15You see the tape on the left knee of Tomohiro Ishii.
11:19Gino, which has been an issue going back to World Tag League.
11:23Wait a second. Here's a cover and a count of two.
11:26Well, I was actually just about to ask you the same thing, Kevin.
11:28I'm not privy to the other side of the locker room.
11:31I don't get to go and visit Chaos and hear all their secrets.
11:34But we know Ishii's knee has been a problem for a long time now.
11:38I don't know if it's gotten any better, but by the signs of that heavy tape, it's still an issue.
11:43It seems to have not improved nor have worsened.
11:48So that much we do know.
11:50Other than that, it's very quiet, of course, when you're dealing with Tomohiro Ishii.
12:05What I have been told is that surgery at some point probably is what the doctors would prescribe for Tomohiro
12:20Ishii.
12:23Is going up and it's so rare for Evil to be doing this much trash talk and assert this level
12:30of superiority over his opponents.
12:34Well, maybe that's what Evil needs. He needs to be different this time.
12:38Look at each man in a deep squat.
12:41And now Ishii not only trying to fight off the suplex efforts of Evil, instead Ishii's trying to power him
12:49up for one of his own.
12:51He's trying, but Ishii's holding his weight down.
13:00Ishii would not be denied.
13:05Clutching that knee.
13:07Yeah, you gotta wonder how much it took out of him though.
13:20A reverse of the Irish whip. Ishii fires out though.
13:24And knocks Evil down.
13:28And Ishii just looks down at Evil.
13:32As he plants the sole of his boot right on Evil's face.
13:41These two men locked towards not just at Wrestle Kingdom during the never six man gauntlet, but also at New
13:49Year's Dash in a tag team match.
13:52Ishii just stood there.
13:55In the throat.
13:58Not a chop into the chest, but rather a broad arm into the windpipe.
14:04And beat on the receiving end, Kevin, I tell you nearly ended the match there and there.
14:09It's so hard to breathe.
14:13I want you to take a violent shot to the throat.
14:18Yeah, it's Ishii with the admonishing of our referee.
14:23Yeah, the referee don't get in my way.
14:26Wait a minute now.
14:27Wait a minute.
14:28Throwing Ishii on his head, suplexing him back into the corner.
14:32Ishii falling awkwardly on his head.
14:36And now Evil trying to create distance between himself and Ishii and catch his breath after those vicious neck shots.
14:46And now a pair of chairs.
14:48We have seen Evil utilize this any number of times.
14:52And after Red Shoes let the assault from Ishii go, I think Evil feels very confident in what he's about
14:59to do.
15:00Watch out.
15:01Swing it for the fences.
15:03It is high.
15:04It is far.
15:05It is gone.
15:21Struggling to get and keep breath in after those chops into the windpipe.
15:27It is high.
15:33It is low.
15:37It is high.
15:40It is high.
15:44It is high.
15:45Evil building up momentum as Ishii is slowly starting to pull himself up into the corner.
15:55And the Bronco Buster is on the money.
15:59Driven right into the chest of Ishii.
16:01Leg hook two and a kick out.
16:04The roots and training of Evil not that much different than Tomohiro Ishii, Chris.
16:09Well, in terms of the mentalities perhaps, but Ishii did come from a non-New Japan environment and that's something
16:18that Evil holds over Ishii and says I'm a product, I'm true blue New Japan, so to speak.
16:24Whereas you came here from outside and that's a matter of pride to Evil.
16:29Is she part of the four black saints as you've referred to them in the past?
16:34That's absolutely right.
16:36Oh, wow.
16:36Four people along with Taichi and Milano and Tomohaki Homa that came to New Japan from outside even during a
16:44period of bleak business for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
16:48You gotta do bleak business.
16:56And so now it's Ishii who's in control.
17:03Powerbomb position.
17:15Evil pulls himself out of trouble.
17:16Oh, man.
17:18Oh, Ishii.
17:20Wait a minute.
17:22The referee pulled in.
17:24And now the two.
17:25Oh, wait a minute.
17:27Using Red Shoes to assist in his own version of Magic Killer.
17:33We knew Red Shoes had it in him.
17:41Well, Red Shoes, a slightly built man, the weight of Ishii's legs,
17:46driving down into the shoulder of Red Shoes.
18:00Oh, jeez.
18:01Stomping right through Tomohiro Ishii.
18:05He will use the bottom rope as leverage and really drive his foot heavy into Ishii.
18:16and now the end of his foot heavy into the other form is where he pulls the edge of the
18:17feather.
18:17It's Ishii up before pulling him up.
18:19Ayee!
18:23Blocking the inch of gurry.
18:26And now Evil had a steam.
18:29Swing it from the fences, but underneath it was Ishii delivering the back suplex there.
18:34The German suplex
18:35From Tomohiro Ishii
18:53Ishii hobbling
18:54Yeah
18:55But delivering
18:56A strong clothesline
18:58Kind of feel like
18:59He didn't get the full full star
19:00He sends Abel to the top
19:03Well I tell you
19:04The knee is going to be
19:05Firmly tested here
19:07Balancing on a tightrope
19:09And having to
19:11Maintain and control
19:13A 250 plus pound
19:14Evil for a superplex
19:15Let's see if Ishii has it
19:21And he does
19:24Unbelievable strength by Ishii
19:26The superplex center of the ring
19:28And a kick out at two
19:32He almost held Evil
19:34Mid air then
19:35For just that moment
19:39And if you're questioning
19:40If Ishii is 100%
19:42I think he just proved it
19:50And now the doubt
19:52Started to send him to Evil
19:53I think
19:58Oh my
19:59Crumples it with one
20:08And now power bomb
20:10Oh
20:11Last ride stacks him up
20:13Two
20:14And a kick out
20:18A desperate kick out
20:20From Evil there
20:27Sliding Larry
20:27No Evil
20:28On his feet
20:30Clothesline of his own
20:32He had to think of something there
20:34Kevin
20:35Desperately that power bomb though
20:39Here we are talking about Ishii's knee
20:41And
20:42A superplex and a power bomb to follow
20:45Well that's probably the reason why
20:48That knee has been very slow to heal
20:50Because Ishii not only taking no time off
20:52Hasn't changed his style at all
20:54Hasn't adapted
20:55He's fought through the pain time and time again
20:57Couldn't be any more spot on
20:59If a wrestler does have to wrestle Ishii
21:02They're usually
21:02Injured sorry
21:03They usually have to change up their game plan
21:06It's now Evil
21:09Oh my god
21:10Wow
21:11That leg came in from nowhere
21:14And now it's Ishii with the clothesline
21:17Flattening Evil
21:18To
21:19Hit
21:20Oh
21:21Geez I thought it was over there
21:24That spinning heel kick
21:26Got Evil square in the mouth
21:32Perhaps time vertical drop brain buster
21:35Perhaps
21:35Oh no
21:36Evil
21:37No no no
21:3715 minutes pass
21:41And at the 15 minute call
21:43This match really hangs in the balance
21:55And then
21:56A knee came down on top of Evil's head
21:58Fire
21:59Fire
21:59Fire
22:00Fire
22:00Fire
22:00Fire
22:01Fire
22:01Jeez
22:03There we go
22:05No it's a knee that time from Evil
22:12What a combination of flurry from Evil too
22:17Ishii just barely kicked out
22:21Evil talked about for how long it's been
22:24That he seems to have had all the tools
22:26But all the conversation in New Japan
22:28And the focus is going elsewhere
22:30He has to get results
22:32This match is essential to Evil
22:38It's 나쁜
22:38Brent Shue's asking who's going to answer the call first
22:44The crowd in favour of Ishii
22:49Both men getting back to their feet almost simultaneously

27:59match
28:01one where evil
28:02looked like
28:04he may have shaken the voodoo but
28:07and in the winter paradise of Sapporo I don't even know if there's enough ice
28:11for both evil and Tomoharu Ishii after what each man put the other through in an effort to gain victory
28:27I know we talked to me in our pre-event meeting I felt like this was evil's time
28:36but
28:37he's coming in less than 100% not sure of the condition of the knee
28:41all signs pointed to me
28:43king of darkness is going to win
28:45but there is something about Tomoharu Ishii
28:48Chris he continues to vex evil
28:50he just can't get Tomoharu Ishii off his back
28:54and evil what does it take
28:58and man evil's gonna have to come through
29:01with some pretty serious conversations with himself
29:15see it sinking in his face
29:17what does it take to beat that guy
29:33Tomoharu Ishii
29:34Tomoharu Ishii has once again
29:36bested evil
29:44as the stone pit bull
29:47gets the win
29:48here in Sapporo
29:51evil being led to the back
29:53and the question of what is next for evil
