00:00C'est parti de la semi-final de la G1 Climax A-Block.
00:06Il y a un match à 30 minutes.
00:30...that could be on his way to four points in joining Tai Chi.
00:37The UK's own, Will Ospreay.
00:42Current...
00:42...REP Pro British Heavyweight Champion.
00:45That's right.
00:46...defeated Zack Sabre Jr. to win that title at the High Stakes event by...
00:50...presented by REP Pro at York Hall earlier this year.
00:53It's available if you want to go back and watch it, rpwondemand.com.
01:01Will Ospreay got the win in his tournament opener...
01:04...against Yujiro Takahashi in Osaka.
01:12...
01:13...
01:13...
01:16...
01:23The way you win, Rocky, other than, you know...
01:26...there's a few ways to win a wrestling match.
01:27...but the most common way to win a wrestling match is to pin your opponent.
01:32The other night, Tomohiro Ishii was the only wrestler...
01:35...who did not even attempt a pin in his first G1 match.
01:40Wow.
01:41And Ospreay attempted a tournament high...
01:44...here's a couple of interesting nuggets from Chris Samson.
01:47Ospreay attempted a tournament high 51 pins over the course of his first G1 Climax tournament last year.
01:545.66 a match.
01:56In his opening bout with Yujiro, Ospreay attempted only two.
02:02And in last year's tournament, Ishii was the recipient of the most pinning attempts.
02:07His competitors attempting to fall 49 times for an average of 5.44 a match.
02:13In his opening bout with Minoru Suzuki, Suzuki attempted only one pinfall and it ended the match.
02:22Wow.
02:23That's interesting.
02:27Now Ishii and Suzuki very much two stand-up fighters.
02:33So that does not shock me.
02:36And Ospreay very quick to the victory.
02:40Quick landing a hidden blade from the front side.
02:43Stormbreaker 1, 2, 3 and it was over.
02:47And by the way, Ospreay won in just a shade over 7 minutes.
02:527 minutes 34 seconds.
02:55Which was by far the fastest victory in the A Block first night of competition.
03:02There is the Stone Pitbull.
03:04One third of the Never Overweight 6-Min Tag Team Champions.
03:08And a solid, solid bet to get 8 to 10 points a year in the G1.
03:14And a solid, solid match.
03:17Chaos, 170cm, 100kg.
03:20Ishii Tomohiro!
03:22As you mentioned earlier, Rocky, it's the first singles meeting between Ishii and Ospreay.
03:27And they have tagged together 56 times.
03:34Both in the Chaos faction.
03:36So we look at the Assassin Will Ospreay, Stone Pitbull, Tomohiro Ishii, Red Shizuno will be our official.
03:49And Ospreay trying to get the head of Ishii who wants nothing to do with shaking hands.
03:56Yeah, I don't think a shoulder tackle is going to work on Ishii.
04:00Not so easily at least.
04:10Ooh, good way of mixing it up.
04:13Gets that shoulder tackle.
04:18Ospreay very, very confident.
04:20And his post-victory words in the ring were, you know, a little un-Ospreay-like.
04:27Yeah, backstage too was a little interesting, that interview that he did.
04:36But back to the action.
04:40Look at these two going.
04:42Oh!
04:42German suplexed out, lands on his feet.
04:45Shooting star press, no Ishii out of the way.
04:47Sliding Lariat, no.
04:48Ospreay out of the way.
04:50Wow.
04:52He got a standoff.
04:58I don't know if Ospreay wants to poke the bear.
05:04He's got to be careful.
05:05Yes, no doubt about it.
05:07Tomohiro Ishii delivers the goods in these big match situations.
05:11You know, Ospreay's definitely going to have the edge in the speed department
05:15and the versatility of using those kicks and those strikes.
05:20And I think that Ishii's got to be careful because Ishii likes to load those strikes up
05:26and that gives the perfect opportunity for Ospreay to counter.
05:31But Ospreay gets propelled down.
05:33Ishii also very good at the quick change of direction.
05:36While Ospreay very fast laterally, you know, side to side, laterally in the ring,
05:41Ishii can immediately pivot, turn, and deliver with force.
05:45Mm-hmm.
05:46No, absolutely.
05:54Headbutt.
05:54Man, just Ishii with the bigger heart.
05:56You know what I'm saying?
05:57When it goes down to it, you got to, you know, bite down and go all the way.
06:03You know?
06:04You got to give it to Tomohiro Ishii in that department.
06:08And Ishii throws that chop, sometimes in the chest, and then when the money's on the line,
06:13it'll get a little north up towards the windpipe.
06:16Yep.
06:19Or you get him angry enough.
06:21Ooh.
06:21No, that's true.
06:23Solid kick right to the back.
06:28And Ishii, too.
06:30Ishii, just like Minoru Suzuki, has got those really, um, sharp, uh, uh, legs there.
06:40The, um...
06:40Shins?
06:41Shins.
06:42Shins, that's what I'm looking for.
06:43Calcified shin bones.
06:44Yeah.
06:44Yep.
06:45That's what I'm, that's the word I'm looking for.
06:47Especially with no kick pads, zero protection.
06:53And, uh, and usually the kick pads, for a lot of people who are curious, it's to protect
06:57the person who's kicking, usually.
06:59If you throw a lot of kicks, that helps to relieve some of the stress on your own shins.
07:04Mm-hmm.
07:05But when you train for that type of style, and you toughen up those shins,
07:09Mm-hmm.
07:10Year after year, then, uh, they become another weapon, as heavyweight power, Will Ospreay,
07:17trying to take Ishii up and over.
07:19Yeah!
07:21But Tomohiro Ishii, the suplex.
07:25Common technique, Kevin, to, uh, strengthen up those shins.
07:30Kicking sandbags.
07:33Well, there's, uh, again, you know, the, uh...
07:37Kills the nerves.
07:38The technique that these athletes use, uh, to get themselves ready years before they
07:46are at this level.
07:48And it's, it's like they've been groomed for this their entire life.
07:51And, of course, Ishii didn't have the easy way.
07:54There was no red carpet rolled out for him.
07:56He wasn't a first-round draft pick to get into New Japan.
07:58He had to fight his way in.
07:59And then when he got here, he had to earn the respect that he's gotten.
08:07He just kicked some sandbags in his days, I can tell you that.
08:10Couple, couple sandbags or two.
08:12Ospreay has not kicked any sandbags.
08:14Nope.
08:18That one was in the throat.
08:19In the throat.
08:24Directly into the windpipe.
08:27And now Tomohiro Ishii will continue to go to work.
08:34Ooh.
08:37Look for that thrust kick.
08:39Now Ospreay with a chop of his own.
08:43Ishii.
08:45Blast of a kick though.
08:46Gets put down.
08:49Everybody got ready for this tournament in their own way.
08:53Will Ospreay making the most use of the time off.
08:57Really intensely hitting the weights and training.
08:59It was only a couple of years ago that Will Ospreay actually began to train with weights.
09:06It's amazing.
09:06He was a flexibility guy.
09:09A squats and push-ups guy.
09:11Never one to really throw the iron around, but has gotten into it in a big way.
09:20Still remains to be seen, Kevin, on how that will affect him in the long haul.
09:27You know, obviously adding that much size in that short amount of time could really affect his wind.
09:34And especially as we go later on into these matches against bigger opponents and stronger opponents, you know, that may
09:43change everything for him, you know.
09:46And he still hasn't tested it yet, you know.
09:49Pip Pip Cheerio.
09:51Again, it's different when you're, you know, back in England and you're eating right, you're doing all these things.
09:55But once this tournament gets going and it's harder to eat the same way, it's harder to get that same
10:01time in the gym.
10:02The rest, the rest factor.
10:04Yeah, the rest factor. Right.
10:06But I think that adding the size in the long run will be good for Ospreay because it's adding a
10:13little bit of padding and a little bit of protection.
10:16He's battled neck issues and back issues and shoulder issues.
10:20So adding that little bit of muscle as cover is good.
10:25But it's very true, Kevin.
10:30Oh, wow.
10:31And doing things like this, though, to Tomohiro Ishii, despite any obvious language barrier, I don't think is good for
10:39Ospreay's health and wellness here in the immediate future.
10:44I'm going to tell you a quick story, Kevin.
10:47Ishii does not like to be disrespected by a Kohai.
10:51Oh, OK.
10:52And I've been out to dinner with both of these guys.
10:56And Ospreay would often call Ishii by just saying Ishii and not giving the respect to Ishii by calling him
11:06Ishii-san.
11:07And Ishii would often get extremely pissed off by it.
11:11Wow.
11:13And now dropping him across the top rope.
11:18And Ishii is hung out to dry here.
11:21And Rocky, you've been on the receiving end of this from Ospreay.
11:24Yep.
11:25Oh.
11:26He avoided it.
11:27Yeah, he did.
11:28Oh, but he ate that enziguri.
11:31Oh.
11:34Drop kick with Ishii.
11:35What a drop kick.
11:35Yeah, nicely done.
11:37Ishii on the edge of the ring.
11:38Crashes all the way to the floor.
11:41Similar to a Marufuji-style attack.
11:50And now Will Ospreay.
11:52Yep.
11:54Looking to fly.
11:56Watch this.
11:57Here we go.
11:59Ishii got out of the way.
12:02Oh, short moonsault.
12:05Gonna lift him.
12:07No.
12:08Ishii counters.
12:09Now Ospreay reversal.
12:11Sends him into the railing.
12:14Oh.
12:16Oz cutter from off the railing, Kevin.
12:19Beautiful.
12:20Oz cutter from Will Ospreay.
12:22Out on the floor.
12:24And Red Chizuno immediately jumping out of the ring.
12:27Making sure that Tomohiro Ishii is going to be able to recover.
12:29An incredible exchange there.
12:32Ospreay flying over the top rope.
12:34Sasuke special.
12:36Ishii avoided it.
12:37It looked like Ospreay was going to go for the ride.
12:40He was in great peril.
12:42But then turning it around with the Oz cutter.
12:45And both men are down.
12:46Red Chizuno now back in the ring.
12:48He'll begin the count.
12:49Five.
12:51Six.
12:53Seven.
12:54Eight.
12:56Nine.
12:58And the question now will be will Tomohiro Ishii be able to answer the count or will he be a
13:04victim of a count out?
13:05We saw one count out.
13:06Fourteen.
13:07So far in this tournament with Yano defeating Sonata.
13:10Fifteen.
13:10This could be our second.
13:11Sixteen.
13:13Seventeen.
13:14Uh oh.
13:14It's getting dangerously close.
13:16Eighteen.
13:18Nineteen.
13:19Uh oh.
13:20Just barely.
13:23Ospreay.
13:24Wow.
13:24With the springboard drop kick follows up.
13:26That could be it.
13:27Two.
13:28And Ishii kicks out.
13:36Ten minutes.
13:37Ten minutes pass.
13:39Ten minutes pass.
13:39Ten minutes pass.
13:39Ten minutes pass.
13:40Ten minutes pass.
13:40Ten minutes pass.
13:43Oh.
13:44What a slam.
13:49Now could Will Ospreay put Tomohiro Ishii away and join Taichi at four points in the A block?
13:57Let's see what he does here.
14:02Oh wait a minute Ishii.
14:06Oh.
14:07Causes Ospreay to lose his balance.
14:09And crashes down on the turnbuckle.
14:12Smart work by Ishii.
14:17Ishii-san.
14:18Sorry.
14:20Yeah.
14:21If I'm ever with Ishii, it's always Ishii-san.
14:27Ooh.
14:30Oh.
14:34That'll rattle the molars.
14:36Yep.
14:39Wow.
14:40What a headbutt.
14:42Probably the greatest angle that you could deliver a headbutt too.
14:46From underneath.
14:48Superplex.
14:49Superplex.
14:50Yes, sir.
14:54Ospreay taking the brunt of that top rope fall, no doubt about it.
15:00See if Ishii goes for the cover, but no.
15:02No.
15:03No follow-up.
15:07Yeah.
15:08Too much punishment.
15:10Hard fall for Ishii as well.
15:13But now.
15:17Let's see if he can put him away here.
15:19Vertical drop brain buster.
15:20Perhaps.
15:21No.
15:26Ooh.
15:27Ooh.
15:28Elbows.
15:29Rapid fire.
15:30Both sides.
15:31Flipping tiger kick.
15:32Misses.
15:35Yep.
15:36Oh.
15:37Went for that hidden blade.
15:38Block.
15:39High kick block.
15:40Ooh.
15:41Thrust kick lands, Kevin.
15:44Thrust kick lands right on the money.
15:46Absolutely.
15:47So, Will Ospreay gets quick there in the combination exchange with Ishii.
15:54And Ishii's down.
15:56Oh.
15:57Oh, wow.
16:00And before Ishii could fall, Ospreay caught him with the knee.
16:07Here we go.
16:08Oscutter.
16:09Ishii underneath.
16:10Ishii.
16:15Oh.
16:18That's what I like to see from Ishii.
16:21Deadly, deadly elbow lands.
16:26Couldn't find Ospreay for the lariat attempts, but delivered with the forearm.
16:32And now Ishii again.
16:34Here we go.
16:37Powerbomb.
16:38First pinning attempt of the tournament, Kevin.
16:40Two.
16:41Yep.
16:41And Ospreay kicks out.
16:48So Tomohiro Ishii.
16:52A count away from getting his first two points of this year's tournament.
16:57Sliding lariat coming up.
16:59Oh.
17:01Another pinning attempt, two.
17:03Another kick out from Ospreay.
17:11He may go brain buster, Kevin.
17:14And that may be all she wrote.
17:18Yep.
17:19Oh.
17:20Counter.
17:21Counter.
17:24Oh.
17:25Oh.
17:26Huge German suplex.
17:29Gonna look for the lariat.
17:30Hit it.
17:31Here we go.
17:31Not gonna miss.
17:32Oh wait.
17:33Finish fly.
17:33One minute finish fly.
17:35Two.
17:36Oh.
17:37So close.
17:44Here we go.
17:46Oscutter.
17:47Got him.
17:50Oscutter.
17:52One.
17:53Two.
17:54And no.
17:57So close.
17:58Tomohiro Ishii kicks out of the Oscutter.
18:10Back and forth battle between Tomohiro Ishii and Will Ospreay.
18:23And let's see which direction Ospreay goes.
18:26Here we go.
18:26Stormbreaker.
18:29Gets him up.
18:31Ishii lands.
18:32Out the back.
18:33What goes for the hook?
18:34Misses.
18:35Headbutt Lanzo.
18:39Oh.
18:40Another Oscutter.
18:41But Ishii catches him.
18:43Here we go.
18:44No.
18:45Oh.
18:47Hook kick straight to the face.
18:50And what a lariat from the stone pit bull.
18:54What an exchange.
18:55Ishii crushes him with that lariat and puts it down.
18:58Fifteen minutes.
18:59Fifteen minutes.
19:00Fifteen minutes.
19:00Fifteen minutes.
19:04These guys are throwing bombs back and forth, Kevin.
19:09Ospreay's all-time average G1 match length of 17-13 is tied for the longest among this year's G1 competitors
19:17with Okada.
19:18Here comes Ishii.
19:19Wait a minute.
19:20Whoa, whoa, whoa.
19:21What a counter.
19:22Into a powerbomb.
19:24Uh-oh.
19:24Oh.
19:24Keeps it right there too.
19:26Almost got it.
19:45Will he think Stormbreaker again?
19:48Yes.
19:50Up on the shoulders.
19:52No.
19:52Ishii down.
19:54Ooh.
19:55Oh.
19:56High kick.
19:57Enziguri lands.
20:01Turned inside out.
20:03The lariat on the money.
20:05Leg hook.
20:07To he.
20:08No.
20:16Ishii completely in the plus position now, Kevin.
20:20And he's one brain buster away from getting his first two points.
20:27Ospreay knees his way out.
20:30Headbutt.
20:31Oh my god.
20:33Murders him with that headbutt.
20:38Ospreay's gotta be knocked out.
20:42Here we go.
20:43Vertical drop brain buster.
20:45Vertical drop brain buster.
20:46Again.
20:47A counter.
20:49Hits him with that stunner.
20:51Counter.
20:52Big elbow.
20:53Oh.
20:54Ishii fires back with that lariat.
20:58One more time.
21:00Again.
21:01Can't do it.
21:02Oh.
21:02Reverse Rana lands.
21:03Poison Rana lands.
21:05Ishii.
21:06He's on his feet.
21:08Rolling elbow.
21:13Here we go.
21:14Another attempt.
21:15Another try.
21:16Up on the shoulders.
21:18Ishii fighting out of store.
21:20Oh.
21:22What was that?
21:23My god.
21:25Two.
21:26And he kicks out nevertheless.
21:32Almost like an awful waffle.
21:34That was.
21:35Holy cow.
21:37Rough for Ishii to take but somehow he kicked out.
21:40Hidden blade time though for Ospreay.
21:44Yeah.
21:44Ishii's in a bad way right now.
21:49Oh.
21:51Crushed him with the hidden blade.
21:56And now.
21:58Here we go.
21:59Up on the shoulders.
22:00Oh we got him.
22:01Stormbreaker.
22:04Stormbreaker from Ospreay and it is over.
22:07Man.
22:07What a war.
22:09What a war.
22:1018分 20秒.
22:11Will Ospreay選手 no shorri desu.
22:13So Will Ospreay gets his second win of the tournament.
22:16Four points.
22:20Ishii still yet to get on the board but there's still a lot of competition to go.
22:25And that was every bit a main event worthy match with two guys in the semi-final here.
22:32This tournament is turning out to be spectacular.
22:36That was a wild wild battle.
22:45It really boiled down to the fact Ishii could not get that vertical drop brain buster.
22:50He had Ospreay in position.
22:52Ospreay had answers each time.
22:55Similar to the Suzuki-Taichi bout that you know doing the homework of having the counter ready and having multiple
23:04counters ready.
23:05In this situation with Ospreay and Ishii.
23:08You know you you know that way.
23:10You got it.
23:11You got to give it up to that Ospreay did his homework coming in on this bout.
23:15And it worked out.
23:17Game plans work Kevin and especially in these tournament big tournament situations.
23:23The rematch from last year's Best of Super Junior finale up next for Ospreay.
23:28He goes one on one with Shingo Takagi while Tomohiroishi will meet Kota Ibushi.
23:35You got it.
23:36You got it.
23:38You got it.
23:38You got it.
23:40You got it.
23:43You got it.
23:44Milano Collection 18 singing the song that Ospreay wants to hear.
24:03Will this be the year that Will Ospreay takes over the heavyweight division and wins the G1 for Tomohiroishi.
24:13Historically now 30 and 36 in G1 competition but his best days lie ahead could certainly well factor into things.
24:23If we remember last year Kota Ibushi dropped his first two before winning the whole thing.
24:31The G1 Climax A6 is 18.20 seconds.
24:35Will Ospreay's勝利.
24:38So at this point the tournament at Rocky are you buying Will Ospreay?
24:43Is he there for you?
24:44Well I mean he's got four points and that's...

Recommandations
