A massive fire broke out at a mobile battery shop located in Puri Plaza, 13 Block Chain Wali Gali in Delhi's Karol Bagh Ghaffar Market. The blaze, which prima facie originated from a ground-floor mobile battery shop, reportedly spread up to the fourth floor and affected at least three adjacent buildings. Firefighting teams battled the flames for over seven hours before bringing the blaze under control, while cooling operations continued. A total of 22 fire service units, alongside additional water bowsers and lighting equipment, were deployed to manage the situation. Firefighters faced significant difficulties maneuvering equipment through narrow lanes measuring around 10 to 11 feet in width, requiring pipes to be drawn from tenders parked at a distance. Delhi Police suspect battery overcharging as the possible cause, though the exact source will be ascertained after cooling operations conclude. No casualties or injuries were reported as the market was empty at night, though extensive property damage occurred.

00:01Breaking news right at the top and this is in fact unfortunate what we are learning about it's a massive
00:07fire that broke out at a mobile battery shop in the Gaffar market in Karolbagh in the national capital.
00:15Now it is the shop is in Puri Plaza 13 block Chainwali Gali just to be a little more specific
00:21of the area the fire what we are learning after seven hours of the fire team fighting teams having been
00:29struggling to bring the flames in control has now been doused and is under control now but the cooling operations
00:37are still continuing according to the Delhi police prima facie the fire seems to have originated from a mobile battery
00:43shop on the ground floor.
00:45is what we are learning the reason however could be overcharging of the batteries due to which they caught fire
00:49the exact source of the fire however is yet to be asserted after cooling operations end a total of 22
00:57fire service units had been deployed to control the place with additional water bowser and lighting equipment having also been
01:03sent to the scene because remember the fire erupted somewhere around night time which is why it's even more difficult
01:11to maneuver through these very narrow lanes that Gaffar market
01:15it has and the shops as my colleague was giving us an idea earlier when we were bringing to you
01:20this very story it's a little difficult to reach those very shops with all of the equipment because trucks will
01:29find it difficult fire tending trucks will find it difficult to move all the way in they will have to
01:34stand at a distance because the lanes do not facilitate or do not have so much space in the first
01:40scene itself
01:42to let the trucks have to let the trucks reach the very side of fire which is why they called
01:47in additional bowser they had 22 teams being sent into the very location and then finally the shops being very
01:56close to each other several of those shops in fact the fire had spread out too and now it's been
02:00brought under control
02:01Anshul Singh joining me back on the broadcast Anshul what are you learning exactly of the fire situation we heard
02:09that the flames have been brought under control but the cooling operations still continue what is it that you know
02:19well yes currently we are at the spot where the entire incident has happened if I could just come here
02:23and show you in the visuals this is the location where the said incident has happened and you can see
02:28how difficult is it that how difficult is it for the firefighters to actually go ahead and carry out this
02:32entire operation and probably this is the reason why it took such a long time for the firefighters to actually
02:40get the fire under control as well
02:42if I could just show you in the visuals above the smoke is still emitting from the shocks that are
02:50on the upper upper surfaces remember the fire had started from the ground flow
02:54Prime FSI it actually seems like that the fire started due to a battery shock that was on the ground
03:02floor of the building and from there suddenly the fire started to increase and go towards the upper reaches of
03:11the building and has reached till the 4th floor at least but you can see this entire location how almost
03:16impossible it is for the firefighters to go ahead and take the entire situation under their control
03:22So we will try and walk ahead as well and try to get a sense as to what are the
03:27operations that are still being undertaken but over here the situation and the location at which this incident has happened
03:36actually tells an entire story in itself that how it has almost been impossible for the firefighters to get the
03:46fire
03:47What are the firefighters here?
03:49What do you see here?
03:503-3
03:51I have only 3.3
03:54So there happened so a few hours?
03:59A few hours of fire on the fire?
03:591-1 hours of fire on the fire, 2 hours of fire on the fire and then the fire on
04:02the fire again
04:02Then it turned back like it
04:04It turned back like it turned back to you
04:06I don't know
04:07What was the fire on?
04:08Where was the fire on the fire?
04:09There was no one thing in the fire
04:11I was just a 10 to 11 from my phone
04:11In the mobile battery shop
04:14so yes as you heard that these are people who are locals in this entire area they say that
04:19initially the fire was doused around 2 a.m but again there was another source of fire that had
04:24started due to which the fire went on now these visuals tell a story in itself that how it is
04:31almost impossible for the firefighters to carry out any sort of an operation over here because
04:37this is absolutely in a by lane that is not more than 10 to 11 feet in width and hence
04:46no machinery
04:46could get close and as I showed you that these are the pipes that have been used to actually
04:54which have been pulled from the fire tenders and have been taken to the spot where the fire
04:58was originating because at that location it is impossible for any anything any machinery to
05:05reach so yes a very very uphill task and that is the reason why it took such a long time
05:09for the
05:10fire department to get the fire under control even as we are speaking the cooling operations are still
05:15underway the fire has been doused but the smoke is still is still coming out from the top floors of
05:22the of the building so at least it was a four floor building that has that has a that was
05:27entirely
05:28engulfed in fire and the nearby buildings at least three buildings in the nearby vicinity as well
05:33has also been affected by the fire in fact in fact if you could see that there is still thick
05:41smoke
05:41black smoke that is coming out from the from the roof and the top floor of this of this building
05:48as
05:48well so definitely the situation is not good at all thankfully it was it was the night time and hence
05:56no one and hence there were no people who were present inside the shop or in this entire market
06:01and that is one of the reasons why there has been no loss to a life per se at this
06:07point in time
06:08however there are there is damage to property that has been reported but no injuries or no casualties
06:13that have been reported till now absolutely anshul and and that's one that's one uh perhaps one could
06:20say fortunate uh situation if we speak of the fact that there is no casualty or uh even injuries for
06:29that
06:29matter that's been reported from this particular fire incident because it was night time there were
06:34no sure there were no people at the very shop uh however what exactly led to the fire still remains
06:41to be a question that has uh to be probed by the authorities and that will be right now cooling
06:47operations are underway as my colleague untrue men
