00:00Spelling a word is like solving this puzzle and it's honestly just something
00:05I can look at myself and say I'm good at this.
00:10Spasm. Spasm. S-P-A-S-M. Spasm. You're correct.
00:16Iyad's passion for spelling goes well beyond state spelling bees.
00:20He's co-created a spelling app with his father.
00:24Getting approved by the App Store took a few tries but we made it!
00:28It was one of the best days of my life. The app has 12 levels of difficulty and as you
00:33practice and earn experience points you level up and the words get harder.
00:38Spelling I find particularly enjoyable compared to other subjects because it's something I
00:43can actually feel like really proud of myself for doing and just something I feel like I
00:48can accomplish.
00:49Iyad is sharing his strategies and experience on his YouTube channel Kids Can Spell.
00:55As someone who has experienced and observed over 10 spelling bees, spelling bees have a
01:00time limit and it will be established before the competition.
01:03I think it's less about the studying and more about the balance.
01:06I think one hour of effective study will be a lot better for you than six hours of study
01:13year because if you do just like six hours then all of those words might not catch up to you
01:20in your sleep.
01:21You want to balance your work with lots of things like play, food and sleep and procrastination.
