00:00We get our very first college football playoff show tonight, which is just laughable, Craig,
00:07on so many different levels that anything, as if anything, that they actually tell us
00:12tonight as far as the top 12 teams who might very well be in the running to make the playoffs
00:18this year, and I want everyone to keep in mind when they watch that show tonight that
00:22just imagine 24 teams now being in contention for a playoff when you see how ridiculous
00:30it is going to be here tonight because you're going to have your top 12 and you're going
00:35to have those first four out, Craig, so 16 teams essentially, and I believe since the
00:41start of it now, we've only ever had three teams that were not in the initial top 12 in
00:49the poll and then made the playoffs.
00:52And those teams, Arizona State did it a couple of years ago because they ended up upsetting
00:57and winning the Big 12, and then you had a couple last year with James Madison and Tulane,
01:03the other six conferences there.
01:06But if you were part of the Big Four and you don't show up in the top 12 tonight, Craig,
01:12there's a good chance we won't be seeing you.
01:14At least history tells us we're not seeing you in the playoff at all.
01:19It doesn't happen.
01:20Well, we got a lot of big matchups coming up this week in week 10.
01:24I think that last line is the key.
01:27Everything that you said before that, no offense, it doesn't matter because this season is on
01:32its head in college football, Joe.
01:33Like, I don't think, I mean, this is the most unpredictable season in the history of you
01:38and I watching college football.
01:40So whatever happens tonight, I think it's fun to talk about, but I think it's absolutely
01:44meaningless because on Saturday you're going to get Notre Dame playing Miami and certainly
01:50if Miami beats Notre Dame, Miami's kind of locked in now to a playoff spot.
01:56If Notre Dame beats Miami, then Miami probably has to worry about what happens to them if they
02:01lose another game between now and the end of the season.
02:04But that's just the tip of the iceberg here because LSU plays Georgia on Saturday.
02:10And if LSU loses to Georgia, oh, is it Alabama?
02:16Am I getting that right or wrong here?
02:20Alabama LSU this week.
02:22Alabama, excuse me, Alabama.
02:25That's what I meant to say.
02:26So if Alabama plays LSU this week, LSU loses to Alabama, LSU is out of the college football
02:34playoff in all likelihood.
02:36So after Saturday, I think we'll get a much better view of where we're headed.
02:42Now you can throw up that other graphic with Georgia and Mississippi.
02:44My bad on that.
02:45If Mississippi was to lose to Georgia, Mississippi in all likelihood will not be in the college
02:50football playoff.
02:51But if they should win, then it puts Georgia on notice because that would give Georgia their
02:55second loss of the season.
02:57So Joe, in the end, confusing or not for me, for everyone out there, it should be just
03:02as confusing because whatever happens tonight is sort of meaningless.
03:08The one team that I think that has made the biggest strides in college football this season
03:13that is positioning themselves.
03:16I don't know how you feel about this, Joe, but they're positioning themselves to be maybe
03:20a top five team.
03:21I don't know that they're deserving of it, but the way that it's trending is Joe, UCF,
03:25UCLA at this point cannot be discounted.
03:28We haven't probably talked about them all season long, but here they are.
03:32And of course, they're going to play USC.
03:35And that could be a game that puts UCLA in the top three, Joe, at the end of the season.
03:41Like this is the kind of crazy year that we just couldn't have expected.
03:44And then what happens next year, as you mentioned, with the 24 teams that get into the college
03:50football playoff, let's be honest, the show is meaningless next year, this time.
03:55I'm fine with the college football playoff, but if any show that tells us anything in
03:59November, who's the 25th and 26th team that's out, I don't think anybody's going to care
04:04next year.
04:05Next week, we'll have a much better idea as to who's out and who is in after this week.
