00:00Georgia just gave Democrats their first big win of midterm night.
00:03Senator John Ossoff has won re-election, beating Republican Mike Collins.
00:09NBC News and Decision Desk HQ called it the first major race of the night.
00:15Ossoff is the only Democrat seeking re-election in a state Donald Trump won in 2024.
00:20He led in the polls all summer, sometimes by double digits.
00:24Now the 2028 whispers are starting, but Ossoff says he will serve the full six years.
00:30For Republicans, Georgia was a top chance to grow their Senate majority.
00:35Democrats still need a net gain of four seats to take control of the chamber.
