04:59for another epic showdown between
05:01Marc Marquez and Jorge Martín, but
05:02unfortunately Lewis, this big, big crash, eight days ago
05:05now in Philippe-Ireland,
05:07it's not a game moment for Martín's world title
05:09though, but this has put a huge
05:11dent in it. Already he's
05:13lost a further nine points
05:15to Marc Marquez with
05:17Martín's absence and Marquez's second
05:19place in the sprint yesterday,
05:21but it's the Philippe-Ireland sprint and those
05:23consecutive whacks on his
05:25right arm on the gravel trap as Martín
05:27is a passenger at that stage.
05:29Which have done the damage to his right hand.
05:31You can already see him there, sort of
05:33stretching out his fingers, trying to assess the damage
05:35to his right wrist.
05:36All of our respect and admiration
05:38has to go to Jorge Martín for
05:41even trying to race here this
05:43weekend. You can see that on his face
05:45the clear, unimaginable
05:47agony that he's in, just getting his
05:49glove on, he's not even been able to brush his teeth
05:51with his right hand.
05:52Despite that, he put it all on the line
05:55on Friday and on Saturday
05:56morning to try and salvage
05:59some World Championship points, but it was
06:01on Saturday morning when he realised that
06:03it was an impossible task.
06:33You know that the pain was too much, you know he was hurting too much because you are
06:34in the sprint yesterday, it is now in the 33-year-old's hands.
06:38And just a reminder, the previous seven years that Marc Marquez has led the
06:42Monday GP World Championship, he has never failed to go on and get the title completed.
07:17Six riders remaining in contention for the championship mathematically.
07:1852 points behind Marc in the title chase is Marco Betsecki, of course he was third over the line in
07:25yesterday's dramatic sprint.
07:27Feels like this afternoon, Luis, he just has to somehow find a way to beat 93.
07:32Yeah, I'm not sure third will cut it for Marco Betsecki today, simply the Bears is the message from his
07:39fans, if he wants to be the best in 2026, today does feel must win for Marco Betsecki, with points
07:47already starting to disappear off the table as the sprints in Grand Prix's tick away, three more of each to
07:53go after today, Betsecki is already 52 points behind Marc Marquez, he surely has to reduce that significantly this afternoon.
08:02to have any hope of taking at least one Aprilia rider to the end of the season in title contention.
08:08That's the unfortunate cancellation of last weekend's Philippe Island Grand Prix in Australia, because Marco Betsecki is our most recent
08:14Monday GP winner, that brilliant victory in Manderlique, defying some much needed momentum back into his world title chase, as
08:21we look at Bears and Marc Marquez, power of their Ducati's and Aprilia's away from the start-finish line, just
08:27look at that, the acceleration forces in Monday GP are quite astonishing, aren't they?
08:31Ayagura with an aggressive weave, dropping across the nose of Pedro Acosta, as those might achieve people are actually almost
08:36in 300 clubs an hour, a standing start in the breaking zone for the first corner, Ayagura really was tupping
08:42it out, wasn't he, in those early exchanges, with Marc Marquez, yeah, the fans were on their feet, some of
08:48them could barely watch the action, could they?
08:50Yes, this was a key move that Marc made to secure that second place in the sprint, he said yesterday
08:58himself, it was just all about managing the risks, not taking any unnecessary risks, and most importantly, finishing ahead of
09:06Marco Betsecki.
09:07Some fight there, wasn't it? He's had to have some big sprint battles over the last seven days or so,
09:12hasn't he, with Aprilias, Marc Marquez, an epic fight over eight laps in Philippe Island, before Jorge Martin crashed out
09:19of contention, this time around, he was having to fend off the very resolute Ayagura, who certainly was not scared
09:25about dishing out a few hard moves himself, and one of the hardest and most ruthless races we've ever seen.
09:30Certainly wasn't, and that wasn't Agent Agura running an interference for Aprilia yesterday, he was asked that question, whether he
09:37was instructed by Aprilia to either help for Marco Betsecki by attacking Marc Marquez, or by letting him through, and
09:44he said the answer was no, Ayagura was out there purely for himself, and we would expect that to be
09:49the same this afternoon, and Agura certainly would be at the very least a dark horse pick, if not a
09:54genuine favourite, to finish on the podium this afternoon, having made major strides after a poor Friday.
10:00Well, it was for just the third time in 126 mana GP appearances, Alex Marquez fired the Grazina Ducati away
10:06from pole position, he got a really good launch as well, didn't he, Alex, from pole position, number 18 in
10:12his career, got the whole shot, was aggressive on the brakes into that first quarter, nothing that Agura or Marc
10:17Marquez could do about it directly behind him, fortunately it was a short-lived experience for Alex at the front
10:23of yesterday's sprint, and he looked like he was going to secure his second sprint victory here in Topang, before
10:29this moment,
10:30sent him hurtling through the gravel trap, down the hill into Turn 13, pure frustration from Alex yesterday, the 33
10:38-year-old Spaniard who said, after his brilliant pole lap, and having hit the front, and done so much of
10:45the early leading, maybe a little bit of overconfidence creeping in, and that was the end of Alex Marquez's hopes
10:50of securing his seventh sprint success.
10:54It was another brilliant Top 5 yesterday from Fabio Di Gennantonio, who's been so, so fast and so, so consistent,
11:01hasn't he, so far this year, to keep himself in time of contention.
11:04Let's get some thoughts from the Italian ahead of what's going to be a real demanding, physically and mentally, 20
11:08-lap Malaysian Grand Prix.
11:09Digia is with Jack.
11:10Yeah, great to be joined by Fabio ahead of this one, a great ride yesterday into the Top 5, what's
11:15necessary today, Fabio, to get into that podium fight?
11:18For sure, being super patient, and try to manage as much as you can the tyres.
11:24Good luck, have fun.
11:26Super patient.
11:28Whenever you've ever heard a MotoGP rider say they have to be super patient, that's going to be the key,
11:32though, isn't it, in this upcoming 20-lap Grand Prix, an abrasive surface, and some of the season's hottest conditions
11:38are going to be key, key in terms of time management for this battle.
11:42There was drama, wasn't there, off the line, for Pedro Acosta, starting from the front right of the grid, as
11:47there was an aggressive weave from his left, as Ayagura was jostling the track position.
11:52The FIM MotoGP stewards did have a very close look at that action from Ayagura, I think they reported it
11:57was borderline, right on the limit, but they decided to let Ayagura sound off, because he got a really good
12:03start on the Aprilia, whereas Pedro Acosta, a little bit sluggish off the line on the KTM, but he did
12:08not hold or damage his prospects of winning that sprint board.
12:12Just the second time, of course, his first coming at round one in Burra, in Thailand, right at the start
12:18of 2026, when he had that thrilling fight, that epic fight with Marc Marquez, before Marc had to give up
12:24one position for an aggressive overtake.
12:27Acosta, though, trying to be just the seventh rider to double up.
12:30Can he complete a sprint and Grand Prix winning double here today?
12:38Can he complete a sprint and Grand Prix winning double here today?
13:13Well, looking resplendent in red on our supplying grid there, is that the Football Army brand, looking resplendent in red,
13:22and looking to try and take another massive stride towards world title glory, is factory Ducati star, Marc Marquez, who,
13:30despite her conserving energy,
13:32and Marc doing, what, just two or three fast laps in this morning's 10-minute warm-up session, he was
13:38still fastest, rather ominous, wasn't it, from the 33-year-old from Severo.
13:43Just a reminder in terms of where the championship could lie post this 20-lap race here in Malaysia.
13:49A win for just the third time, he's done it before in 2014 and 2018, or a second place here
13:55this afternoon.
13:56Would see Marc Marquez have the chance to wrap up the championship this time next week, over on the lights
14:02of the La Salle International Circuit in Qatar.
14:05It's going to be interesting to see just what sort of level of risk reward Marc Marquez takes this afternoon.
14:11As we've covered already, he wasn't particularly comfortable leading the sprint yesterday, which is why he didn't at any stage.
14:18He was quite happy to let others do the leading and do the heavy lifting in those slightly iffy conditions.
14:22We do have some reports that there might potentially be a sort of 30 or so percent chance of some
14:29rain late in the Grand Prix.
14:31In fact, Jack can give us the very latest.
14:33There are some slightly ominous clouds around, but what's the chance of them making their way over the racetrack during
14:38the Grand Prix, Jack?
14:39Yeah, we should be OK.
14:41You might be able to sense a little bit of tentative-ness in my voice because two or three teams
14:47I've spoken to with their extremely switched on, extremely accurate weather radars
14:52are predicting that the rain could arrive at around quarter to four, four o'clock, which is either just after
14:59the chequered flag or maybe in the worst case,
15:02well, best case for us, worst case for the riders in the final one or two laps.
15:07We should just about get away with it, but there is that threat lingering for the final couple of laps.
15:12Well, that would set it up, wouldn't it, for a dramatic finish if the rain did come in the crucial
15:17final stages of this Malaysian Grand Prix.
15:20Thanks for the update, Jack.
15:21Yeah, the rain straight after the Pedro Acosta took the chequered flag for that second sprint success yesterday.
15:26Started to absolutely pelt it down, bucket it down.
15:29Thankfully, at the moment, those umbrellas only employed for some much-needed shade here in Sepan,
15:36because Trusted, myself and Lewis, are in a nicely air-conditioned coffee box,
15:41although at times it gets a little bit too cold, then we switch it off and then we're getting absolutely
15:46sweaty like we're in a sauna.
15:48But we do have the luxury of a bit of air-con, not like these riders who are facing 40
15:53minutes of racing
15:54in what arguably are the most extreme conditions of the season.
15:58Estimates from speaking to a couple of teams, a couple of riders, they expect to shed around 4 kilos in
16:04body weight
16:04in 20 laps alone in around 35-40 minutes of racing.
16:10Does not really get much more taxing, much more punishing on the brain and body than Sepan.
16:16Yeah, he can tap, I have a slightly croaky voice, blame the air conditioning just over my left shoulder.
16:21Jack Miller, well, he had a face of thunder yesterday, much like the skies overhead after he pitted very early
16:28in the sprint,
16:29pitted the end of the first lap for a change of bikes to try and roll the dice for the
16:34ultimate sprint gamble
16:36of a flag-to-flag bike swap.
16:38Of course, we saw Jack Miller giving his team an absolute verbal volley after that bike change attempt went wrong.
16:44Here it is, you can see him already complaining that the bike wasn't ready.
16:48Jack has clarified the situation since this event and that it was a miscommunication between himself and the team
16:54and it wasn't all the team's fault.
16:56Just love that picture of his mechanics there, looking at him going, what are you doing here?
16:59Yeah, we agreed like four or five, Jack.
17:01Yeah, exactly, what are you doing?
17:02Did not expect him to come in earlier, is he just explaining or explaining in a way that
17:07Jack did apologise for that, like he said, it was an extremely hot spit yesterday.
17:13He didn't really feel like he had any chance of scoring points, so he rolled the dice, he took a
17:18gamble.
17:19Yeah, Brad Binder, Brad Binder has shared the factory KTM garage with Jack Miller,
17:24so he knows, he knows what a rather unique character, a unique personality Jack is.
17:29We don't want him to ever change, do we?
17:31We wish Jack well on his new adventure in World Super Lights next year, of course, so too.
17:34Brad Binder, the pair of them will be locking on again next season.
17:37in the World Super Bike Championship.
17:41Fabio Quattararo didn't have a bad sprint, actually, yesterday, did Fabio.
17:44He came over the line in 11th place.
17:47He was only a second, actually, away from taking eight spots away from Diogo Moreira.
17:52He went into yesterday's sprint in rather pessimistic fashion, didn't he?
17:56As a former Moderna GP winner, Danilo Petrucci joins us.
18:01He's working with us, he's got a Italy TV colleagues here this weekend.
18:06Every time I look at Danilo, I'll just go straight back to Modelo 2019 when he had that epic fight,
18:10that epic win against
18:11André DiBizzo and Marc Marquez.
18:14And as Danilo said to Jack yesterday pre-sprint, this Grand Prix, almost a race that every rider dreads.
18:20They sort of always have a little bit of apprehension about coming to Zabang, just because of the conditions, just
18:29because of the elements.
18:30It is so, so, I mean, just look at those track temperatures, turn three, the long right-hander, 54 degrees
18:38centigrade, nearly 130 degrees Fahrenheit.
18:42You're carrying lean angle through that turn three, short-shifting third to fourth.
18:46At the curb on the inside there, you just drive 200 kilometers an hour, so you're putting so much force
18:51and stress to the right-hand side of that tyre.
18:53And, of course, force and stress and power means heat, and it means wear and degradation, so turn three is
19:00going to be so, so key in how you manage it throughout this Grand Prix.
19:04That Danilo Petrucci win you referenced in 2019 at Mugello just goes to show just how much winning one of
19:12these means to any motorcycle racer in the world.
19:15Petrucci put mind, heart, body and soul just to win one MotoGP Grand Prix.
19:21Of course, would win a second a year later at the French Grand Prix at Le Mans.
19:25We're talking about Marc Marquez, who's leading the World Championship, but looking to take another step closer to another title
19:30today, who has won 79 of them in MotoGP.
19:34Alex Marquez will probably feel he has a bit of a score to settle with, Zabang, doesn't he?
19:39After fluffing his lines, comfortably leading that sprint yesterday when he went down at turn 13.
19:47Alex, 2025, Malaysian Grand Prix winner.
19:50I still feel like, and I'm sure his rivals do as well, that despite that mistake yesterday, he will launch
19:55away from pole.
19:56He is going to still be, in many cases, the favourite coming into this afternoon's action.
20:02Of course, Alex, again, the winner from second on the grid here last year.
20:07He was a 2023 sprint winner.
20:09Very, very happy memories, of course, by Alex in this part of the world.
20:12He was crowned 2019 Mud 2 World Champion.
20:15But, yeah, he'll feel like he certainly has a bit of a score to settle with turn 13 after blowing
20:20a golden chance to clinch that seventh sprint success yesterday.
20:24We have seen Alex Marquez crash out of the lead of a sprint before Barcelona last year.
20:28What did he then go and do the following day?
20:30He came back and won the Grand Prix.
20:33So, perhaps there is a template that Alex Marquez may be able to follow today.
20:36Not that he would choose to go about it that way.
20:38He would have surely loved to take a double by winning the sprint and the Grand Prix.
20:43It's a Marquez, Marquez, or Costa, front row of the grid.
20:47First Aprilia is on row two with Ayagura.
20:49But then we find Marco Bensecki, who you just saw, leaving pit lane.
20:54He must make progress from pit.
20:56Well, yesterday, the clear pick for the riders in that ten-lap sprint was the soft front, soft rear tyre.
21:03Alex Marquez did race the soft, slick rear tyre to victory here last year.
21:08But with so much degradation from a 5.54-kilometre spanx surface, which is rapidly deteriorating.
21:16I mean, some riders yesterday were reporting huge tyre wear.
21:20Some of them saying on the soft rear tyre in the sprint, they'd wrecked it after just three laps.
21:26Well, the Grand Prix this afternoon is 20 laps.
21:28So, you are going to be, this feels like a Grand Prix where maybe not the fastest rider will win
21:33the race.
21:34It will be the smartest rider.
21:36The one that can go and lock down into tyre management mode.
21:40We've seen that, haven't we, so many times in his career, Mark Marquez, so smart, so intelligent, so, so clever.
21:46How many Grands Prix's has Mark won when he hasn't been the fastest rider?
21:49He's just managed the horsepower, managed the brainpower together.
21:54Yeah, you're going to have to box clever over the 20 laps this afternoon, that's for sure.
21:57I think it was four-time Formula One World Champion, Alan Prostu, once famously said that the job is to
22:02win the race at the slowest possible speed.
22:05Now, I think that might be the MO for everybody out there on track today.
22:09It's about getting to the chequered flag first, but if you've got no tyre left at half distance, you could
22:14lose seconds per lap.
22:17The Maroon Devils 10th Brigade skydiving team putting on a spectacular show then for our Malaysian fans here today.
22:25We've certainly enjoyed watching the Moda 3 and Moda 2 action unfold before the main event coming up in, what,
22:32about 25 minutes' time.
22:33No spoilers here in the commentary box as usual.
22:37That's Mark Marquez then.
22:39Is this going to be one of the defining moments of his 2026 World Title campaign?
22:45It's hard to believe, isn't it?
22:47Just a few months ago, just a few weeks ago, he was 102 points behind.
22:52Marco Bezzecchi was the runaway early season World Championship leader to think that next weekend in Qatar, Mark Marquez could
23:02be crowned MotoGP World Champion.
23:05The theme of 2026 very much has been, certainly in the recent weeks, it's been Mark Marquez fighting a lone
23:14battle against an armada of a pretty years.
23:16It's a task that he has risen to, an occasion he has risen to.
23:21And with the unfortunate absence of the luckless Jorge Martin, after all of his injury problems last season, Martin, where
23:27he missed 14 Grand Prix's.
23:29We thought he was going to get a clean run, didn't we, in 2026.
23:32But it just shows.
23:34These riders, every single lap of every single round, of every single sprint and Grand Prix,
23:41they are pushing themselves and their machinery to the absolute limit.
23:45You're always running the risk of injuries, it's an occupational hazard, isn't it, in the MotoGP World Championship.
23:51And unfortunately, at such a vital stage of the campaign, Jorge Martin sidelined after his right wrist fracture in Philippe
23:58Island last time out.
23:59Joining us for the first time this weekend, the depletion to the Aprilia ranks actually goes further than that,
24:04because we also have no Ralph Fernandes on the grid for today's Malaysian Grand Prix.
24:09He did come here, he did take part in pre-practice one,
24:12but with some inflammation around the fracture in his finger, he withdrew on Friday morning.
24:18Fabio Quattara, as you can see, walking to his grid spot with our Jack.
24:21Jack, down to you.
24:23Yeah, great to be joined by Fabio after a top ride in the sprint yesterday, 18th through to 11th.
24:28This is going to be a tough one, Fabio, for various reasons.
24:31How are you feeling ahead of it? What's the game plan?
24:32Yeah, unfortunately, there is no raindrops at the moment, but I'm going to give my best.
24:39The pace is not there this weekend at all, but I'm trying to maximise what we can do.
24:45Good luck, have fun.
24:46Thank you.
24:47Yeah, it was a strong ride that from Quattara, 18th through 11th, the Jack mentioned in the sprint.
24:52Sporting a six-pack, which I sport myself, of course.
24:56Sadly, that is far from the truth.
24:59So Fabio Quattara winding down towards the tail end of what at times has been an unbelievable spell
25:05as a Yamaha star in the MotoGP World Champion.
25:09Here is your grid then for the Grand Prix in Malaysia.
25:11All Spanish front row, Alex Marquez, Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta.
25:14And at the moment, the indication is it is soft front, soft rear for all three.
25:19Aigura, Marco Betzecchi and Fabio Gian Antonio on row two.
25:23A huge 20 laps ahead for Betzecchi from fifth.
25:26Bastianini, Zarco and Morbidelli on row three.
25:29Morbidelli, one of those who made the ill-fated decision to change bikes yesterday.
25:33Pekka Bagnay at 10th from Dwan Mir, who returns this weekend from illness.
25:37And Maverick Mignal is his best qualifying for a year and a half.
25:40Luca Marini, Diogo Marera and Brad Binder on row five.
25:43Binder came through from 15th to 7th in the sprint yesterday.
25:46Jack Miller, 16th, head of Alex Rins and Fabio Quattararo,
25:49whose rain dances clearly haven't worked.
25:51And Ike Laquoda in for Fermi Naldeguerre.
25:53And Augusto Fernandes in for top track Rascati Oglue.
25:56Complete your grid of 20.
25:57Level playing field, just as we like it.
26:00Every single rider at the moment, though we have to stress,
26:02there's still plenty of time for that to change.
26:04But coming to the grid, the initial information from Michelin,
26:08the exclusive tyre supply is that every rider, all of them,
26:12soft front, soft rear tyre for this Grand Prix.
26:16On Malaysia, trying to keep their title hopes alive,
26:19trying to put some pressure back on the shoulders of Mark Marquez.
26:23It's Aprilia and their team manager, Paolo Benora, who joins Jack.
26:27Yeah, Paolo, just confirming to me there after speaking with Michelin,
26:30track temperature 57 degrees, two more than yesterday.
26:33You can certainly feel the heat down here, Paolo.
26:36I bet you can feel the heat in this World Championship fight as well.
26:39This feels like a big one.
26:40Does Marco have to finish ahead of Mark today?
26:43Yeah, absolutely.
26:45This is the last races of the season.
26:48Now it's not necessary to take care about all the points we need to make the best as we can.
27:01Absolutely.
27:01This is so important now.
27:03And, yeah, today is a longer race, hot temperature, 2 degrees more than yesterday.
27:10So it's necessary to take care better than yesterday, the rear tyre.
27:14Looks like everybody will be going soft run, soft rear.
27:17Even in the sprint, we saw quite a drop.
27:19So just how difficult is it going to be to get those tyres to the end?
27:23Yes, you are right, absolutely.
27:25Today is even more difficult than yesterday.
27:28They have to take care since the start.
27:30Good luck.
27:31Thanks.
27:32Yeah, thanks, as always, to Paolo Benora.
27:35Thanks very much, Jack, for posing the questions down there.
27:38As the Malaysian fans are getting themselves set,
27:40bracing themselves for what is one of the biggest sporting events
27:44to take place in this magnificent part of Southeast Asia,
27:48this magnificent part of the world.
27:49Spang international circuit, about a 50-kilometre-an-hour drive
27:53outside of the spectacular capital of Kuala Lumpur.
27:56Well, there you go.
27:57You heard it loud and clear.
27:59Aprilia and Marco Betsechi simply have to beat,
28:04have to finish ahead of Marc Marquez in this Grand Prix.
28:08The title, of course, is not over.
28:10Marco Betsechi yesterday was asked,
28:11do you still think you've got a genuine chance to win this championship
28:14by some of our TV colleagues?
28:15He said, well, of course I have.
28:17I'm 52 points back.
28:18But if I didn't think I could still win the championship,
28:20I'd be sat at home watching on the sofa.
28:22He's got to give it a go.
28:23He has to ask the question.
28:25And we've already seen Jorge Martin pick up an injury last weekend
28:28because we don't want anything to happen to Marc Marquez.
28:31But you've got to be there to take advantage
28:33if any opportunities present themselves.
28:35Marc Marquez, he's come from 102 points back already this season,
28:38albeit with much longer left in the season.
28:41So Marco Betsechi has to believe that he can still overturn a 52-point deficit
28:46in the rounds that remain.
28:48There is Marco Betsechi.
28:50The start, though, you feel, is so, so important for Bez
28:53from fifth place on the grid.
28:55He has to try and give the Marquez brothers
28:57something to think about in those early stages.
29:00His sprint podium yesterday, aside, which was his seventh of 2026,
29:05he doesn't exactly bring an impressive CV, does he, to Sepang.
29:10No podium in seven Grand Prixs.
29:13And before yesterday, that's across all three classes,
29:15and before yesterday, he never had a podium in three previous sprints.
29:19Boy, does he need a top three at the end of play here this afternoon.
29:24To be fair to me, he has scored top tens in all four appearances.
29:26The mother GP was close to the podium here four years ago in 2022
29:30when he took the chequer flag in fourth place.
29:33But a fourth place, surely, will not cut it here this afternoon
29:38for the 27-year-old Italian,
29:40who has to find his winning touch once again,
29:42just as he did in Mandelika a couple of weeks ago.
29:46Being told once again, thank you to our Malaysian fans.
29:50You never let us down, do you?
29:51You are some of the best fans we have on the Grand Prix calendar,
29:54and I'm delighted to say we have a record crowd,
29:57a weekend crowd of just shy of 200,000 fans,
30:02196,542 across the three days.
30:06We thank every single one of you.
30:10We love coming to Malaysia.
30:12We love coming to Sepang.
30:13We hope we're going to be doing so for many, many more years to come.
30:16And once again, thank you, MotoGP Loz Malaysia.
30:20I think we now know, once again, Malaysia Loz MotoGP.
30:23Yes, and they certainly bring the noise, don't they, to MotoGP?
30:27Without giving any spoilers, of course,
30:29there was a Malaysian very much in the Moto3 Grand Prix earlier on today.
30:33What an atmosphere we had in the build-up to the start of that.
30:37And, of course, always coming here so, so late in the season,
30:40they generally do see MotoGP at its biggest and highest of stakes.
30:45We have seen MotoGP World Champions crowned here, of course, in the past.
30:49Valentino Rossi won the last of his MotoGP World Championships at this circuit.
30:54Marc Marquez can't win it today,
30:56but he can potentially set up the opportunity to win it.
31:00Yeah, down the years, there's been some big parties here in Malaysia,
31:02and the 15 World Titles across all three Grand Prix classes
31:06since we came here for the first time back in 1999.
31:09Have been decided right here in Sepang.
31:13Now, is that just a fresh, soft rear tyre in the warmers being bought
31:17to Marco Vesceki's factory of Prilly there?
31:20That was what it's all about.
31:21We just saw there on the grid, didn't we?
31:22The Tower of Champions, the biggest prize in Grand Prix motorcycle racing,
31:28the biggest prize in two-wheel motorsport on planet Earth.
31:33I agree, well, for the first time yesterday,
31:36led a sprint.
31:37What a fight he put up for the podium.
31:39Great battles with Pedro Acosta, with Marco Vesceki,
31:43and with reigning world champion Marc Marquez.
31:45Can he do the same again in the Grand Prix this afternoon?
31:48The boss, Davide Brivio, is talking to Jack.
31:51Yeah, I feel like the real dark horse for this Malaysian Grand Prix,
31:54because before the rain arrived yesterday, Davide,
31:57he was quick as anybody out there.
31:59So, I imagine, quietly confident of your chances today.
32:03Yeah, honestly, yesterday it was a kind of a little surprise
32:07to be leading the race, to be so fast.
32:10Yeah, it was good until then.
32:11When the rain started to arrive,
32:14it's difficult also to be the leader of the group,
32:18to decide the pace,
32:19but I think he did an amazing job.
32:21Then, by the end, we didn't have enough speed
32:23to reply to the overtake
32:27and to get to fight back.
32:29But, anyway, it was a good race.
32:31Today, we hope,
32:32I hope we can be competitive, same as yesterday,
32:35to be in the battle and see what's happened.
32:37It will be a lot, as you know,
32:38tire management by the end.
32:40Normally, yeah, it's very good,
32:41but every race is different.
32:43Depends how much you use the tire at the beginning,
32:45how much you need energy,
32:47you need to stay with the group.
32:49So, I hope we can stay there like yesterday,
32:51battle, and hopefully, maybe, different results.
32:54Good luck.
32:55Thank you.
32:55Yeah, that will be the master plan.
32:56Thanks to Superfire Trackhouse boss Davide.
32:59Brivio talking there with Jack.
33:01Yeah, plan A will be that similar performance,
33:04but a better result
33:04for the 25-year-old Japanese rider,
33:07who's impressed, has he,
33:08since returning from that fractured thumb.
33:10He suffered it in August
33:11in our second summer break
33:13while training on his motocross bike over in Japan.
33:16Ayagura's return has been impressive.
33:18He has scored top six in all five sprints
33:21and three Grand Prixs
33:22since that injury return.
33:24Well, can Pedro Acosta
33:26be the seventh rider
33:27to win both the sprint and Grand Prix
33:28in the same weekend?
33:29That's the accolade,
33:30that's the carrot being dangled in front
33:32of the Spanish riders.
33:33Crew chief, Portra of Athens with Jack.
33:35It's one of the big questions of the day.
33:37Can Pedro Acosta
33:38get a first career double,
33:40but I imagine, Paul,
33:41today's race
33:42is going to be very different
33:43to what we saw yesterday.
33:45Yeah, 200%, you know.
33:48It's a very hard place, you know.
33:49You see the lap times drop by two seconds
33:51in the normal race here,
33:52which is very unusual for MotoGP.
33:54The problem comes not only from the rear,
33:56it also comes from the front,
33:57so we have the same dig front and rear,
33:58so it makes it very tricky
33:59for the guys to find a good pace
34:01that they can manage for the whole race.
34:02So it'll be tricky.
34:04The track conditions,
34:04as we know,
34:05are breaking up a little bit,
34:06so then any little mistake,
34:07you pay for it
34:08may be harder
34:08than what you have in the past.
34:09So it's the guy,
34:11I think, you know,
34:11we've got to get a good start,
34:12find our position a little bit
34:13at the beginning
34:14with the front group
34:15and then sort of hold on
34:16and see what happens, you know.
34:17It's the guy who's going to have
34:18the most at the end.
34:19I think we'll take this one.
34:20Cheers, Paul.
34:20Good luck.
34:21Cheers, thank you.
34:22Yeah, it'll be the rider
34:23that's kept some tyre life,
34:25some endurance and durability
34:26in that rear tyre
34:27that's going to be strong
34:28at the end of this Grand Prix.
34:31Pedro Acosta,
34:32only the fourth sprint win
34:34for KTM in 80 sprints yesterday,
34:36a couple previously down the years
34:38off for Brad Binder.
34:41Mark Bacchese's spare factory,
34:42Ducati there in pit lane
34:44as we are getting closer
34:46to what is always
34:47one of the most special
34:49and hair-raising moments
34:50of the Grand Prix calendar,
34:52the Malaysian National Anthem
34:53will be ringing out
34:54around the Sepang International Circuit.
34:58Yeah, we just saw no spoilers
34:59in the comedy box here
35:00in terms of the outcome
35:01of the earlier 17-lap Moto2 race,
35:04but we did see from start to finish
35:07some very, very significant deviations
35:09in outright lap time,
35:10as much as three or four seconds
35:12from lap one to lap 17.
35:14So clearly, even in the smaller classes,
35:16Lewis, on less powerful motorcycles,
35:18different tyres, of course,
35:19but across all classes,
35:20tyre management has already played
35:22a very significant role
35:23in proceedings today.
35:24Yeah, this is a sport
35:25that's synonymous with aggression,
35:27with high energy,
35:28high-octane action,
35:30but it's potentially a day
35:31to be gentle
35:33and as gentle as possible
35:34with your right hand,
35:36with that throttle,
35:37just to not put as much spin
35:38as you need to
35:40through the rear tyre.
35:41The fans, well,
35:43whatever happens,
35:43it's going to be high energy,
35:45high-octane in the grandstands,
35:46and we hope the action on track
35:48matches that.
35:49We're going to take
35:50a very short pause then here
35:51to listen to the Malaysian
35:54national anthem here,
35:56that's Sepang.
36:08we hope you're about to see Recognize
36:17what's before you are
36:18an our group companion in the big room
36:23but the camera and be clear
36:25and the 유rial
36:26stars has already thought
36:27when we're out
