United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio concluded a forty-minute press conference at the end of the G20 ministerial summit in Atlanta. Key discussions centred on Iran attacking shipping vessels and Indian seafarers, global supply chains, and food security, where India and Turkey are working on food grain contingency plans. The summit also covered diplomatic efforts surrounding conflicts involving Russia, Ukraine, and the Middle East. While Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov attended, objections from Western nations led to the cancellation of the traditional family photo. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has been invited to the upcoming Leaders' Summit in Miami, though attendance remains unconfirmed.

00:00Secretary Marco Rubio just wrapped up his 40-minute press conference at the end, at the conclusion of the G20
00:07summit here in Atlanta.
00:08And he touched upon a lot of topics, starting from Iran, you know, the fact that Iran is attacking sailor
00:16ships.
00:16He also talked about how Indian sailors, Indian seafarers have been attacked and Iran continues to do that.
00:22And that topic was discussed.
00:23He also talked about supply chain.
00:25He talked about food security. He talked about how India is stepping up with Turkey to ensure that there is
00:31a plan to be able to have supply chain when it comes to food grains in place in the crisis
00:39that's unfolding both on the Russian and Ukraine front and also on the crisis in the Middle East.
00:45He also talked about how the G20 summit has allowed leaders to voice their concerns, although there hasn't been agreement
00:55on a lot of things.
00:56But still, it was a forum and it is a forum that remains where 80 percent of world's economies come
01:02together and discuss issues that matter.
01:04That also included talks on making sure to keep pursuing peace for both the wars to ensure that there could
01:13be a conversation on ending those wars.
01:18He also, answering a question, talked about how Russian President Vladimir Putin is invited by the President of the United
01:25States to attend the G20 summit in Florida,
01:29but saying that we haven't seen a confirmation yet, so we do not know yet if President Putin is going
01:35to be traveling.
01:36A lot had been also mentioned or talked about at the G20 here in Atlanta about how the foreign minister
01:43from Russia, Lavrov, was invited.
01:46And he, when he was in attendance, the whole nation tried its best.
01:50America tried its best to have a family photo, but that was not allowed.
01:54A lot of western nations objected to it.
01:56So, Secretary Mark Rubin, in the end, then decided not to have a family photo here at G20 in Atlanta.
02:04Again, this was the last summit, last big summit of the ministerial lane, as to say.
02:11Now we head on to G20 in Miami, where the leaders summit will take place.
02:15Hopefully, we could possibly see an agreement on a joint communique there, but we still do not know if that's
02:22possible or not.
02:23We were also told that there is a reluctance from the Chinese on certain areas, and that would be hopefully
02:29discussed in the next few weeks.
02:32Overall, a very interesting G20 summit.
02:35Not a whole lot of tangible outcomes, but progression and continuation of things we've heard in the past about energy
02:42supply, energy security, global supply chains.
02:45And as such, we'll have to wait and watch as to what happens in Miami, something that the leaders have
02:52been talking for for a while.
02:54There were a lot of also bilaterals, bilats that took place in the foreign minister, also held a lot of
02:59bilats.
02:59And we'll get into details of those as well.
03:01But from the United States perspective, the G20 is now heading into its final lap with December 14th and 15th
03:10in Miami.
03:11This is Rohit Sharma for India Today.
