00:07in july inside a packed hall h at san diego comic-con marvel showed a trailer that nobody
00:13outside the room was allowed to see in it dr doom stands among a field of heroes many of them
00:20holding their kids and says a sentence fans haven't stopped replaying all of you have lived
00:25stolen lives stolen not wasted not undeserved stolen and now one theory claims it knows exactly
00:34whose life was taken tony starks it says the thief is a man we watched in avengers endgame walking
00:42across a new jersey army base in 1970 carrying flowers home to his pregnant wife and it says
00:48the baby that wife was carrying never grew up to build an iron man suit some pieces of this theory
00:54are documented fact some are pure invention by the end of this video you'll know which is which
01:00okay let's start with what that trailer actually showed because the theory only makes sense once
01:06you see what it's trying to explain variety and laughing place both describe the hall h footage
01:12the morning after and their accounts line up it opens on victor von doom played by robert downey jr
01:19sitting on a throne while vanessa kirby's sue storm narrates who he used to be the smartest person
01:25in any room kind caring until in her telling everything he loved was taken from him and she
01:33doesn't talk like someone describing a stranger she talks like someone who once knew him that alone is
01:40news it points to real history between doom and the fantastic four and it fits something audiences
01:46already saw in the fantastic four first steps an empty seat reserved for latveria at a future
01:52foundation meeting then the footage cuts to wreckage and pedro pascal's reed richards demands to know
01:59whether doom did this that isn't the tone of a man confronting a stranger it sounds more like a man
02:05watching a trust collapse between those beats come quick shots of heroes with their children scott lang
02:11hugging his daughter cassie johnny storm holding his nephew franklin steve rogers and thor with kids
02:17of their own meanwhile doom is shown staring at a tapestry that laughing place read as a lost wife
02:23and daughter matching the film's first poster over those family shots comes doom's voice the heroes have
02:30lived stolen lives and now they must give them back give them back that isn't the language of conquest
02:37that's the language of a debt the scene ends in violence thor drops in and doom stops his weapon
02:44like it's nothing throws him aside tells him that hell answers to him and raises an army of broken
02:51sentinels out of the ground his last words are three i am doom so the footage hands us a mystery
02:59whose lives were stolen and from whom to answer that fans keep returning to the other mystery hanging
03:06over this movie why does doctor doom have tony stark's face marvel announced the casting on
03:13stage at san diego comic-con in 2024 robert downey jr who played iron man for more than a decade
03:20would play doom since then the russo brothers have sent signals in different directions in 2025 anthony
03:28russo told the times that tony's death is connected to doom's arrival in july of this year joe russo said
03:36it
03:36will all make sense when people see the movies and then in an empire interview reported in late august
03:43joe russo said there are zero similarities between the two characters though the context suggests he
03:49was talking about downey's performances so the theories multiplied the loudest says tony was never
03:56howard and maria stark's biological son at all that they lost a child and adopted one which would make tony
04:03a victor von doom variant all along comicbook.com covered that one in july but the version in this
04:10video is different it goes further and it starts in 1970 for anyone who needs a refresher in avengers
04:17endgame the surviving heroes try to undo thanos's snap by collecting the infinity stones from the past
04:24tony designs a time and space gps but the whole system runs on pim particles the shrinking substance hank
04:32pym invented decades earlier and the heroes have a limited supply so tony picks a destination where
04:38he knows two things are waiting an earlier version of the tesseract and hank pym himself with a lab
04:45full of particles the place is camp lehigh a shield base in new jersey in 1970 he also knows his
04:53father
04:53howard stark will be there and here's a detail that matters tony's shield file lists his birthday as may
05:0029th 1970 the heroes arrive in early april one outlet says april 7th only weeks before he was born
05:09so when tony finally meets howard his father is carrying flowers for maria and heading home
05:15tony wide-eyed asks how long until the baby arrives then comes the only real father and son conversation
05:22of tony's adult life with howard admitting how nervous he is about becoming a father afterward
05:28jarvis drives him home to his pregnant wife meanwhile steve rogers slips into pim's lab and leaves with
05:35several vials of pim particles by one count four of the eleven in the lab he also crosses paths with
05:42peggy carter if you're enjoying this one this is a good moment to hit the like button it helps youtube
05:47show deep dives like this to more mcu fans now comes the leap the theory in this video says those
05:54missing
05:54pim particles taken from a base where howard worked set off trouble somebody notices somebody complains
06:01and the blame lands on howard stark under pressure he runs he ends up in latveria the fictional eastern
06:09european country doctor doom rules in the comics maria pregnant is with him and there in latveria the
06:17child is born not tony stark victor a boy raised in exile in the shadow of his father's ruin who
06:25grows
06:25into the one man with the intellect to make the avengers pay in this version the tony we knew never
06:32exists in that timeline at all the stolen lives belong to every hero whose happiness was bought at the
06:38cost of doom's own family it's elegant it's dramatic and it explains the face so let's put it through a
06:46fact check first the pym particles the theory leans on the idea that the substance didn't exist yet
06:52in 1970 and its disappearance caused a scandal but hank pym had developed the particles long before
06:58and he was working at that very base that's exactly why tony chose it second endgame never shows howard
07:06being blamed hunted or leaving the country that entire link in the chain is the theory's own invention
07:12third there's endgame's own rulebook the film establishes that changing the past doesn't
07:18rewrite the future the heroes came from it spins off a new branch instead so whatever happened to
07:24howard in a branch timeline wouldn't touch the earth 616 tony who died saving the universe at most
07:30it would produce a different doom in a different reality to be fair that's the only way this theory
07:36could work at all and fourth the comics in marvel comics doom's parents are werner von doom a healer
07:43and cynthia a sorceress both romani people in latveria his mother was killed after a bargain with
07:50the demon mephisto his father died after fleeing with young victor who was then looked after by his
07:56father's friend boris there is no howard stark anywhere in that story of course the movies are under no
08:03obligation to follow the comics so the specifics wobble but notice why this theory still feels
08:10right to a lot of people the emotional shape fits everything he loved was taken stolen lives give them
08:18back a doom whose grievance is a lost family and the russos keep pointing at a link between tony's
08:24sacrifice and doom's arrival even laughing place's own reading wondered whether the hero's time travel
08:30adventures the very thing endgame was built on caused incursions that cost doom his family that
08:37means the mainstream reading and this theory aren't that far apart on the central idea the hero's past
08:43choices hurt this man be honest does doom is the baby maria was carrying feel like a twist marvel would
08:50actually go for or is it a step too far from everything tony stark stood for say it in the
08:56comments i
08:56genuinely want to know where you land because there's a complication the people who actually
09:02know the answer aren't confirming any version joe russo's zero similarities line points away from a
09:09stark doom connection if the directors mean it there's no howard in latveria if they don't they're
09:15doing an excellent job of misdirection and marvel hasn't confirmed this theory the adoption theory or any
09:22other if you've stuck with me this far the like button is right there and it helps more than people
09:28realize so what are the stolen lives here's where things actually stand the trailer shows a doom who
09:35has lost his family and blames heroes who still have theirs reporters who saw the footage tie that loss to
09:42multiverse chaos fans tie it to tony and the theory in this video howard stark fleeing to latveria is a
09:50creative emotional chain built on one real scene and several invented links the one thing every
09:57credible source agrees on is that the answer arrives on december 18th which leaves the question that
10:02makes this trailer so unsettling if doom wants those lives back what exactly does he plan to take in return
