Hundreds of protesters gathered outside Poland's Constitutional Tribunal in Warsaw as a major political and judicial confrontation escalated. President Karol Nawrocki returned early from a trip to Senegal and entered the court building on October 31, amid heavy police deployment. The crisis erupted after Constitutional Tribunal chief Bogdan Święczkowski and his deputy were suspended by senior judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska. The government says the move is aimed at restoring judicial independence, while opposition leaders accuse Prime Minister Donald Tusk's government of staging a judicial coup.
