00:05Hi, this is Connie Wang from Refinery29 and we're going to be doing a beauty test lab
00:09today on the Ciate Caviar Manicure Nails. The first time we saw caviar nails was on
00:14the Cushney at Oaks runway show and those were done by Dashing Diva in all black so
00:19it literally looked like you dipped your fingers in caviar. The ones we're going to be doing
00:22are blue and comes prepackaged with the beads and nail polish and everything that you need
00:28in order to do it. So let's get started. The kit comes with a base coat, the beads, a little
00:35funnel so you can put the beads back in and then this plastic tray. Do not throw this plastic
00:40tray out. It kind of looks like it's part of the packaging but if you do you're going to
00:44run into a whole world of mess. The first thing you're going to do is take your base coat.
00:51Well actually the first thing you're going to do is open everything because this requires
00:56some speed. As you can see it's already making a mess. I recommend taking a little bow off.
01:12So it's a little messy. So you don't have to use the Ciate base coat. Any kind of tacky or
01:19thicker
01:20nail polish blend would do but since it comes in the kit this is what I'm going to do. I'm
01:23only going to do
01:24one nail for now just to show you how it works. So put down one layer and you can see
01:36that it's
01:36a little bit thin and not like a really pretty nail polish color but it doesn't really matter
01:40because you're not going to be able to see it. Wait for it to dry a little bit. Put down
01:50one more coat.
01:53It's a little thicker and then place your thumb or finger over your plastic tray. Oops and make a mess.
02:09You can be a little more delicate about it but basically that's what it looks like. If you want
02:16to get very professional you can use an orange stick or in my case an umbrella toothpick and scrape off
02:24the excess beads or what I just did scrape off all of the beads. So these aren't going to look
02:34perfect
02:36but they don't look bad. You can use your orange stick or your toothpick to get the line
02:42even more exact. If you want to make sure that your nails stay put it's helpful to just use a
02:51little
02:51bit of top coat and line the edges of your nails just so your seed beads stay on for you
03:01know longer
03:03than 20 minutes. To get the beads back into the bottle all you got to do is stick the funnel
03:09in
03:17and make a mess.
03:22Ta-da! The Ciate nail kit comes in three different colors, costs about $25 and unfortunately is sold
03:29out everywhere. It's a really really popular kit just because the effect it creates is pretty
03:35incredible but I mean I've been sitting here for a couple of minutes it's completely dry and a couple
03:40of the beads have already fallen off and you can see the cracks which is a bummer because you know
03:46if
03:46you do something like this you want it to last obviously. For anyone that's interested in nail art
03:52but doesn't really have a lot of time to go hunt supplies you know this kit is really really good
03:55because it comes with everything the base coat all the beads the funnel you know the little tray
04:01but you know if you have some craft jeans in you and you really want to DIY this look I
04:06mean it's like
04:07three dollars just go to your craft store buy some micro beads and I mean you'll basically get the same
04:12nail art design and just because you can DIY it I actually give it a fail but I mean if
04:17you want to
04:18buy one product with everything that you have in it I mean the Ciate caviar nail kit is probably a
04:23good buy.
