00:06Hi, I'm Lauren with Refinery29 and I'm Bethany. Today we're going to teach you how to take your
00:11high ponytail to the next level and keep the volume all day. We're going to start by adding
00:17texture to the hair by wrapping small pieces around a curling iron. You can leave the ends
00:22out to give it more of a natural look. Move around the head. This doesn't have to be perfect because
00:28it's going to go in a ponytail anyway, but we just want that volume with the wave and texture.
00:34After we finish the wave, you can tip your head back and start directing the hair towards
00:39the crown of the head. Add a little hair spray to reinforce it and then start gathering a
00:45ponytail, scraping the hair towards the crown. It's always better to start with a higher ponytail
00:53and bring it lower if we have to. Tie the hair right at the crown of the head as tight
01:00as
01:00you can. Go around with your fingertips and just smooth out any bumps or loops in the hair,
01:06but don't worry about this being too perfect. You can loosen it a little bit around the rubber band
01:12as well to add a little extra volume. The final step is to add some lasting volume to the ponytail.
01:20We're going to separate it in two pieces and tease on the inside of the ponytail. This is going to
01:27be
01:27the trick to the hidden volume. Now just run your fingers through the ponytail. You can loosen it,
01:35make it a little wider, and finish with a little more hairspray. This will just keep it holding all day.
01:42With just a little extra effort in the morning, you can have this glamorous messy look that lasts.
