We sent Refinery29 New York editor, Annie Georgia Greenberg, to Nolita to spy on the chic passersby and find out just how they're keeping bundled up while staying fly. Watch, copy, repeat. We won't tell.
Transcript
00:08Hi, I'm Annie Georgia Greenberg, New York editor at Refinery29, and today I'm in Nolita talking to
00:14people about their personal style. We love this neighborhood for favorite spots like The Smile
00:19and shops like Oaked, Love Adorn, and Babel Fair. Let's see who we find.
00:23Excuse me! Can we talk to you? Your style! What are you wearing today?
00:30A lot of Zara and gold. And you? Jeans are by Subi, shoes are by Toms, t-shirts by a
00:39company called
00:40Emotionally Unavailable, flannel is by Patagonia, and outer shell is by Crye Precisions.
00:48What's your favorite thing for him to wear? Probably his army hat. We always have one on.
00:55There was this corset from Asian provocateur that I really liked.
01:02What's your name? My name is Erica Steiner. And what are you wearing today?
01:06I'm wearing a maxi dress, a striped maxi dress from some store in the East Village, can't remember which, and
01:14a Pendleton coat. It's not as warm as it was.
01:18I chose this outfit because it's my day off. I decided I'd go for a laid-back Brooklyn look.
01:23You seem pretty adventurous with your style. Is there anything you just will not wear?
01:29Actually, I have to say no. There was a while when I was just totally avoiding that American Apparel bra
01:35under lace look.
01:37Then the other day, I was like, why not? And I love it now. So, no, there's nothing I want
01:42to try.
01:43What are you wearing today? I'm wearing a work jumper. I'm from the farm, so it's an old work jumper.
01:50And just some jeans and shoes.
01:53Well, I've got these boots, pyjama pants, which I really like. And I've got this idea about pyjama pants where
02:01I think that,
02:03why would you wear pants that aren't the comfiest pants every day? So, I always wear pyjama pants out and
02:10about.
02:11This is a jacket I got from that place on St. Mark's for 20 bucks. This is a sous vide
02:17t-shirt with their rats.
02:18They're the retrospective. When they first started, they put rats on the runway. And this is a scarf thing and
02:28my beanie.
02:28Do people understand you on the west coast of Australia or do you feel more at home in New York
02:33with your style?
02:34We don't get looked at as much in New York because there's a way, there's heaps more crazies in New
02:41York than there is in Perth.
02:43Everyone seems to be style setting in New York. Yeah.
02:47So, what did we learn today? It's nothing else. It's that New Yorkers have amazing personal style and it's all
02:53over the city.
02:54See you next time.
03:02We'll see you next time.
