Sure, we're all about the latest and greatest in beauty. But, there are some looks even we recognize as being truly timeless. For example, we suspect our eventual grandchildren will still be sporting glamorous 1920s-esque waves at their future holiday parties — it's a style so irrefutably chic, we don't don't see it going anywhere.

Just to make sure, we wanted to do our part to propel this retro 'do into the 21st century. Hair pro Michael Dueñas made it happen, giving our assistant beauty editor Tara a red-carpet-worthy updo that's sure to make waves this holiday.

00:03You know it's called the victory rule because it was a V for victory during World War II and
00:07people are dying every day. With wedding season on the horizon, updos can get really tired. So
00:18I'm hoping Michael can show me a style that's versatile and unexpected. To begin this look,
00:23start with a deep side parting. Then create a triangular section on top. Brush your hair smooth
00:29and forward towards the face. Then proceed to roll up in a victory roll, making sure that it's off
00:35to the side and slightly forward. Secure with a couple bobby pins to ensure that that roll does
00:39not move. Once you have your roll secured on top, begin your next victory roll on the opposite side
00:44of your head. Take a section of the round of your head to just behind your ear. Roll the hair
00:48up and
00:49away from your face in a victory roll. It works well to wrap around two fingers and secure with
00:53a bobby pin. Once you have your second victory roll secured, brush all your hair over to one side
00:59and take it as one section. Curl it towards your face in your curling arm. To set the look, curl
01:05your ends under and finish with a light holding hairspray. So this is a glammed up take on a classic
01:14wedding look.
