00:38like there's a lot of action uh around the league before this trade deadline yeah you're right there's
00:46a lot of phone calls um you know our staff making a ton of phone calls we've talked to all

00:51other 31 teams and you know i've talked to a ton of gms and and um there's only like a
00:57handful of
00:58times during the year really where you can really like make transactions for your team right and
01:05you know obviously you can trade for guys in week one but there's not a lot of teams that are
01:09willing
01:09to trade their guys in week one right so you have you know a few times during the year where
01:14you can
01:14really make some additions or make some transactions and this is one of those so you want to take advantage
01:19of that if something comes up that can help your team were you guys in on nelson at all
01:25we were not in on nelson no were you surprised at the compensation that went for simmons three picks
01:32two first rounders yeah no that was i mean listen he's one he's a really really good player you know
01:38and he's still as a defensive lineman he's still he's still young in in that age curve so those guys
01:44can play pretty well into their 30s you know compared to some other positions um you know his
01:49historically um but i think you know that's a lot of compensation when you factor in
01:54the the draft picks and then um obviously what they're paying him he just signed a new contract
01:59so he's getting paid really really well uh and rightfully so he's a really good player but that
02:04just shows you know i mean to me like the bears are all in right and so um you know
02:10if one of those
02:11things where you look back at it in a couple years and hey was it worth it was it not
02:15you know and
02:16and that's that's one of those where you can't really say it right now but you know if he ends
02:21up being great and they have a lot of success and then they'll be happy with that trade and
02:25if it's not then they won't you know and they'll be wishing they had those picks back but you know
02:30they're confident it sounds like and and that they're you know one player away and and that you
02:35know that that signals that so um that's one of those ones where you kind of wait and see what
02:40happens ap is wide receiver a position you're looking at you know you guys are gonna you guys
02:48are gonna say oh this is coach speak and all that but um you know we're looking at everything you
02:53know in any position on our team that we can we can make ourselves better for you know the present
02:59and the future we're always going to look into that so whether it's wide receiver whether it's you
03:03know any other position that you can think of if there's an opportunity for us to make to get
03:08better and like i was saying earlier like you don't have a lot of opportunities to do this
03:12there's some times where there's teams like they're looking to move on from guys that you're interested
03:16in and those are opportunities where you can you can make a move whether it's you know position that
03:22is you know so-called a need or even a position that's not a need if it's an opportunity to
03:28get a
03:28good player at a price you think it is fair then you can pull the trigger on that so let's
03:33talk about
03:34wide receiver you guys draft antonio williams this year i'm wondering this is a chance where
03:39he's going to get more opportunities right because terry mclaurin goes down unfortunately
03:43burks is hurt the injury burks is hurt what do you see in antonio williams and his future is this
03:50a guy who can be a number one receiver in the league yeah i think first and foremost um i
03:57want to just
03:58give a shout out to terry he's he's having surgery today so um you know all those who who do
04:04so please
04:04say a prayer for him um you know and and he's uh he's a big part of what we're doing
04:10and and you know
04:11what we've done and so you know he's he's more gutted than anybody so you know i just want to
04:17you know
04:17send him some love here today um and then moving forward with antonio um antonio's you know he's he's
04:25a really every single day we see him he does something special in practice that that shows
04:30you what kind of talent he is what kind of instinct he has as a receiver and and so yeah
04:35i think the
04:36sky's the limit for him you know and and you know with with terry going down unfortunately that that
04:41creates more opportunities for others and and people will have to step up and you know we're
04:45we're certainly hoping and expecting that antonio will do that and i think he's definitely capable of
04:50adam how do you look at the season so far are you one of those guys it's like old school

04:57our record is you know the parcells line or do you look at it like all right we botched a
05:01game or two
05:02you know kind of things happen it's kind of embarrassing but whatever but we actually you know
05:06could have beaten philly really should have beaten the giants to be honest had a chance of right there
05:10with the niners you know even though the first half was gross um like we're way better than a
05:15one and four one team or do you you know are you just like no we're a one-win team
05:22you know it's probably both right it's a great question and and i do subscribe to ourselves with
05:28that and at the end of the day you are what your record says you are and you got to
05:32live with that
05:32but do i believe that we're better than a one four and one record uh team absolutely absolutely i
05:38believe that we are but we got to go out and prove it and so but you are what your
05:42record says you
05:43are and and listen we have a great opportunity this weekend to go and do that and get back on
05:47track and that's where we're we're focused on that and and certainly uh you can't change the past so
05:54we just got to go out and start winning some games well how do you react to win amik and
05:59i don't blame
05:59him he says yeah it's like a must-win game and it's got abraham goes in there like the good

06:03that he is amik it sounds like you're making a guarantee here and you know it doesn't back down and
06:08you don't want your players to back down as a gm though do you believe in bulletin board material
06:13does that stuff make you cringe or do you just love that your guys are confident um you know
06:19i i think we we went out and signed amik for a reason because he's a straight dog and he's
06:25a very
06:25good player and he's got the utmost confidence and he's tough and he brings a an edge and an
06:31attitude to our defense and any defense that he's on and and i love that he's on our team so
06:35i think
06:36that's probably the first thing i'd say and then listen that that's that's the kind of mindset you
06:40want you know you sure it is you know bulletin board material if if you do subscribe to that but
06:45you know i i've always been one that says if you need bulletin board material to get ready for a
06:51division game on sunday night then you know that's you know i don't i don't think that i think all
06:57the
06:57material and all the motivation is is is that and then if that's something that you need to get get

07:03for it that's that's not that's that's kind of a problem really hey adam have you been able to
07:08puff your chest just a little bit for the way chig has played the last two weeks coming off that
07:13hamstring injury you kind of slow out of the gate the first few weeks but total numbers the last two
07:18weeks four catches for 60 and then seven catches for 69 against the niners obviously he's going to
07:25be a bigger part of the offense going forward with terry sideline i predicted he's gonna have eight
07:28catches sunday night ap well there's no chest puffing going on anywhere in this building right now so
07:36we're we're trying to just go find out and get better every day so that that's not happening but
07:41i will say that you know i'm really you know obviously you know chig we had we had high hopes
07:46for him and you know he had a slow start because he got hurt you know and now we're kind
07:50of seeing
07:51what that's going to be what's that going to look like within our offense and building him into our
07:56offense and seeing and we really haven't seen like the full extent of what he can do with with the
08:01ball
08:01in his hands and his catching and running and we're going to continue to give him those
08:04opportunities but yeah like you said with with terry down and other guys that have been down
08:10that that gives up that gives other guys more opportunity when you're talking about
08:13he specified antonio and chig and those guys will have more opportunities and and you know we think
08:19you know chig's got even more in in the tank and so uh he's looking great at practice he's been
08:25really looking great at practice the last few weeks and that's translated into the games so been
08:29fired up about that so obviously i don't think the stakes could be any bigger for a game you know
08:35this early in the season i mean you know you don't have to uh expand on that but it is
08:41a massive game
08:42okay um but then you know we see stats that are just crazy like recently you've only been here for
08:48some of it but like i don't know two and six or one and seven after a bye week that
08:53should be a big
08:53advantage for us right and then something like i think you've been here for some of these you know
08:59like oh and five in the last five prime time games you know is that just like sort of a
09:03spurious
09:04relationship you know just small sample size thing or is there something there um you know i don't
09:12think there's anything there i think um you know we we relish the opportunity to play in prime time
09:17you know and our first year here we didn't get too many of those opportunities we ended up getting
09:22uh a game flexed maybe a game or two flexed and and those those are the things our guys love
09:28playing in prime time at night in front of our fans and so we're always going to relish those
09:32opportunities so um you know you always want to play good in those obviously based on what you just
09:38said we haven't played well enough but um that there's nothing there but like we can't wait to
09:43get out there on sunday night in front of our fans does your how does your preparation change
09:48change for a prime time game does it change much or is it just a couple hours here and there
09:52on something no i mean it just depends like if it's um you know sometimes you can you if it's

10:01a thursday night game you practice a little bit later you know give the guys a little bit more time
10:05to rest but sunday night every step the week stays the same you know you get a little more time
10:10on sunday to to kind of hang out and watch the games you get to see you get to watch
10:15all the games on
10:15sunday and kind of see how those unfold but uh you know you can sleep in a little bit more
10:20but
10:21other than that like the day-to-day preparation um unless you're coming off like a late game the
10:26week before it's pretty much the same like our week this week will be the same as our week next
10:30week uh for a one o'clock game ap can you explain the the hiring of steve wilks yeah i
10:37think um you
10:39know with steve first of all like i love steve i worked with him in san francisco he's a great
10:43man
10:43he's a great coach and uh when that opportunity came came about like it was it was a no-brainer
10:50really and so it's something we had talked about for a while and um it came to fruition now steve
10:56had
10:56some other obligations with um with app state where where he's been working at a little bit and um you
11:04know he's he's he wasn't working in the league this year so we thought it was a great opportunity he's
11:09you know we looked into you know a number of different people the possibilities for this role
11:14and he was the best fit so you know to have someone with his knowledge his expertise his years you
11:21know
11:21in the league uh for for durante to bounce things off of for us to look at game planning for
11:27us to
11:27self-scout and do all those different things and then you know the the short time that he's been here
11:32he's really acquitted himself well which i knew he would uh with the staff you know he's fit in
11:38seamlessly but then i think the other thing that i that i was really hoping to happen and it has
11:42happened is is with the players you know when he's out here uh early in the week during practice and
11:48and the guys really is you know taken to him and he's been able to help guys and and so
11:53actually
11:53having an extra set of hands uh that's always a good good thing and and we're thrilled that he's here
11:58so how do you feel about this matchup eric kind of just talked about some of the the stats and
12:04um
12:04you know obviously the record and one four and one two and five it's a it's a huge game just
12:09to kind
12:09of keep the season alive i think you would agree with that uh but you know the commanders you guys
12:15haven't been very good on third down but the eagles have been really bad defensively the last few
12:20weeks and they're banged up as you know i mean barkley may not go their top two receivers probably
12:25won't go they're already at their backup quarterback but they are still the eagles especially on the
12:30defensive side so how do you feel about this matchup yeah you said they are still the eagles
12:36and this still is a division game and you know both teams you know you got your backs against the
12:40wall
12:41so that that's what it's going to be like it's going to be you know a physical game it's going
12:45to be a competitive game and you know whether it goes you know whether it's you know 60 minutes you
12:53know 70 minutes whatever it is you know that that's what we have to do is we gotta we gotta
12:57play a full
12:57game and we gotta play a complete game a complimentary game but these guys you know
13:02regardless of who they got rolling out there regardless of who we have rolling out there
13:06it's still a tough division game an nfc division game and it's going to be physical and so we're

14:38something i'll watch otherwise he's usually got some smooth jazz on or something and we're just
