00:02:44in the World Championship chase
00:04:44in this Malaysian Grand Prix weekend
00:05:14for Jorge Martín.
00:05:16The Aprilia star was overriding
00:05:18the RSGP to try and take
00:05:20those crucial 12 points.
00:05:21Of course, at this stage, Jorge Martín was destined
00:05:24to hang on to the lead
00:05:25in the World Championship. He arrived in Australia
00:05:27two points clear. And Marquez,
00:05:30what a fight, what a battle
00:05:32this was. But you just see there, that little
00:05:34bit of a twitch, that instability on the factory of Prudia,
00:05:38and the wince there as we see those live picks
00:05:39in the top left and corner of the screens of Jorge Martín,
00:05:42the big, big, multiple barrel rolls
00:05:44through the gravel trap.
00:05:45Mark Marquez taking a record-breaking
00:05:4824th sprint success.
00:05:50Jorge Martín losing the World Championship lead and this.
00:05:54If he's able to ride any
00:05:55racing up here this weekend, it will be
00:05:57a Herculean effort.
00:05:59Yeah, genuine, genuine hero.
00:06:01And that was a powerful shot, wasn't it?
00:06:03Jorge Martín visibly wincing.
00:06:06Obviously, he didn't want to look at the screen
00:06:07when he saw that crash, because ultimately
00:06:10only Jorge Martín can truly tell us
00:06:12right now how much pain
00:06:14he is in. He does look a little bit
00:06:16concerned, like there's a little bit of trepidation,
00:06:18but that quote on your screen sums
00:06:20it all up. It's not over until it's over.
00:06:22And because he has
00:06:23the incentive, the
00:06:25dream of trying to challenge and to try and win
00:06:28the MotoGP World Championship, the biggest
00:06:30prize on two wheels, that
00:06:32is what is driving Jorge Martín
00:06:33to give this a go. The only
00:06:36reason he is here. It's a big reason
00:06:38of course, as he is still firmly
00:06:39in World Championship contention, just 10
00:06:41points behind series leader
00:06:43Marc Marquez. He said himself yesterday,
00:06:45the World Championship chase, the world
00:06:47title fight is the only reason
00:06:49right now he is not sat on his sofa
00:06:51watching this free practice one session
00:06:53at his home in the Andorra Mountains.
00:06:55He said, I should be in a cast
00:06:57right now, but thankfully
00:06:59the injuries from Philippe Ireland
00:07:02not as severe as what Aprilia and
00:07:03Martín at first feared. So he
00:07:05is at least here to have a go
00:07:07at riding in FP1 this morning. Marc Marquez
00:07:09then, your outright world
00:07:11championship leader. That sprint
00:07:13win six days ago in Australia, moving
00:07:15Marc onto 365
00:07:18points. Yeah, Marc Marquez
00:07:20knows better than anybody
00:07:21on the MotoGP grid that no
00:07:23pain, no gain. I mean
00:07:25these riders, it is
00:07:27not an easy route, it's not an easy ride
00:07:29is it to world championship glory. They have all
00:07:31all three of our title contenders
00:07:33remaining. Marc Marquez of course, missing
00:07:35the Le Mans Grand Prix, missing Catalonia
00:07:37as he recovered from yet more
00:07:39surgery on that
00:07:41troublesome right shoulder which has dogged him for
00:07:43six long years.
00:07:44Roy Martin, well he missed the
00:07:46everybody missed the Australian Grand Prix
00:07:48hoping to keep himself on the
00:07:50grid here this weekend. Marc
00:07:51of course has missed the Grand Prix this year
00:07:54through injury as well at the
00:07:56Saxon ring. So all of our top three
00:07:58title contenders, whichever one of them
00:08:00wins this world title in
00:08:022026. Boy, have they done it
00:08:04the hard way.
00:08:06Fernandez is also doing it the hard way. He's another
00:08:08rider who will be reviewed at the
00:08:10end of this free practice one session.
00:08:12You can still see there the protection on
00:08:14his broken index finger on
00:08:16his right hand. The
00:08:18pain, this is where the injury occurred
00:08:20of course on the Saturday sprint
00:08:22in Mandelica. He
00:08:24of course then went on heroically
00:08:26to finish second the following day himself
00:08:28in the Grand Prix just showing how
00:08:30his pain threshold
00:08:32stood up to the situation
00:08:34but Ralph Fernandez he
00:08:36withdrew from the Australian
00:08:38Grand Prix. So whatever the weather had provided with us
00:08:40last Sunday in Phillip Island
00:08:42Ralph Fernandez was not taking part
00:08:44in that Sunday Grand Prix because the
00:08:46inflammation around that broken
00:08:48finger, the soft tissue
00:08:50inflamed again around that finger fracture. So
00:08:52Ralph Fernandez in further discomfort last
00:08:54weekend in Phillip Island. Of course
00:08:56a crash at the start of the weekend in FP1
00:08:58didn't help, but Ralph Fernandez
00:09:00another rider whose condition is
00:09:01subject to review at the end of this session.
00:09:04Yeah, that monster crash he had there
00:09:06last week, this time last week
00:09:08down on in Australia was actually the
00:09:10Fafmar dear way to celebrate his
00:09:1226th birthday as he went tumbling through
00:09:14the gravel into Siberia. You can
00:09:16just see there the live pictures in the
00:09:18picture-in-picture screen, in the top left
00:09:20on the screen, Dr. Angel Chartre,
00:09:22the Mona GP medical director there
00:09:24just having some last-minute words
00:09:26with Jorge Martin. That's his father
00:09:28Angel Martin who's helping
00:09:30Jorge just get that right glove on. As we
00:09:31saw there, Ralph Fernandez
00:09:34decided to call it quits in last weekend's
00:09:36sprint in Australia. I mean he was
00:09:37really battered and bruised.
00:09:40This is going to be
00:09:41Jorge Martin's pain threshold
00:09:43tested to his absolute
00:09:45limit, tested right to
00:09:48the edge of his physical pain
00:09:50barrier here, right to the edge
00:09:51of what his body and his brain
00:09:54can withstand in terms of pain. He has
00:09:55done it so, so many times hasn't he
00:09:57over the last couple of years. His
00:09:58factory a pretty a journey, pretty
00:10:00much started in disastrous fashion here, in
00:10:02Sepang, in the pre-season test of
00:10:042025, after just 13 laps in
00:10:072025, racing for the
00:10:09Nuali factory, sporting that gorgeous
00:10:11number one player course, having won the
00:10:13world championship in 2024 for Prama Ducati.
00:10:16Massive, massive high side at
00:10:18turn two, hand fractures on
00:10:20that occasion, ankle fractures
00:10:21and since that moment really
00:10:23you can probably scarcely say
00:10:25that Jorge Martin has been back to his
00:10:28absolute peak physical
00:10:29best. Here he goes then, Jorge
00:10:32Martin, six days
00:10:33on from breaking his right
00:10:35arm, leaves pit lane at the
00:10:38Sepang international circuit, one of the most
00:10:39physical circuits anyway, that the
00:10:41MotoGP riders go to on the calendar
00:10:44but multiply that tenfold
00:10:46for Jorge Martin
00:10:47right now. Of course
00:10:49all of the forces from these
00:10:51motorcycles, when you brake, when you
00:10:53accelerate, they all send forces
00:10:55through your arms, to right
00:10:57arm of course Jorge Martin, it's the
00:10:59hand of course that he uses to
00:11:00brake and to accelerate, it
00:11:03is a right-handed circuit predominantly,
00:11:05there are ten right-handed corners
00:11:06around the Sepang circuit, which Jorge
00:11:09Martin now has to try and tackle.
00:11:10Yeah, there are some, I mean
00:11:13Brembo, when you look at the braking
00:11:14around this
00:11:16international circuit, they have a scale, don't they?
00:11:18A scale of one to six, one
00:11:20being the least severe braking
00:11:22tracks on the calendar, six being the
00:11:24absolute max, the most brutal braking
00:11:26on the calendar, well they categorise
00:11:29Sepang as a five
00:11:30out of six, there are eleven braking
00:11:33zones here in
00:11:35Sepang, they say four of them
00:11:37are at the highest level
00:11:38and you're on the brakes, I mean this is where
00:11:40it's going to be really really tough for Jorge Martin
00:11:42you spend 35
00:11:45seconds of the
00:11:46Sepang lap, squeezing that front
00:11:48brake lever, so this is going to be agony
00:11:50this is going to be a torture
00:11:52for Jorge Martin, anxious faces already
00:11:54inside the Aprilia garage there, you can see
00:11:56Massimo Rivler, now grabbing the
00:11:58breaker, this is only a sort of building up
00:12:00speed, this is only on an out-up isn't it for Jorge Martin
00:12:02but you just know, he's wincing
00:12:04right now, grimacing in pain inside
00:12:06that helmet, wherever the most powerful
00:12:08painkillers are in Kuala Lumpur
00:12:10I'm sure Jorge Martin has been to buy a
00:12:12batch of them already this weekend
00:12:13surely they're going to be very important
00:12:16if Jorge is going to take a full part
00:12:17in this weekend, that's Fabiana Sturlachini
00:12:20the technical boss at Aprilia now watching
00:12:22in the top left hand corner of your
00:12:24screens, we are all watching
00:12:26the body language on board this motorcycle
00:12:28carries the lean angle into turn 15
00:12:30as Jorge Martin, just how many
00:12:32laps will he put in in this session
00:12:34of course there was a fear yesterday
00:12:36evening that this morning session could have been wet
00:12:38because it absolutely dumped it
00:12:40down with rain yesterday evening
00:12:42which would have made it slightly less physical
00:12:43but albeit slightly more risky of a crash
00:12:46for Jorge Martin as he starts
00:12:48his first time lap of the morning
00:12:49it's not just the aggressive
00:12:52severe hard braking zone just clinging
00:12:54on for dear life when you're in the
00:12:56harsh acceleration zones here in Sepang
00:12:58when you look at turn eight to nine
00:13:01up from third gear to fifth gear
00:13:03maxed out at 250 km an hour
00:13:05when you come out of the second gear turn 14
00:13:07onto the back straight to come on
00:13:09the home stretch up from second gear
00:13:12to sixth gear hard on the brakes
00:13:14then as you accelerate out of the last corner
00:13:16turn 15 from second gear 65 km an hour
00:13:19you motor up to sixth gear just shy of 350 km
00:13:23on that start finish rate before there's
00:13:25a massive deceleration zone
00:13:27from sixth gear down to second gear
00:13:29for the real tight
00:13:31tricky turn one
00:13:33I mean he could not really have picked a worse
00:13:35venue could he maybe Matejgi in terms
00:13:37of the hard braking zones
00:13:39to come to a critical
00:13:41critical Grand Prix
00:13:42of course as he's mentioned he's only here because the world title's
00:13:45on the line anywhere else
00:13:47he would have gone home and rested up
00:13:49it could have even been the end of his season
00:13:51which I'm following now through the right
00:13:53handers of turn seven and eight
00:13:55that's third gear on a modern GP
00:13:57by Grand 125 km an hour
00:14:00heavy braking now
00:14:01into turn number nine
00:14:03squeezing the brake with that right hand
00:14:05and of course the brake is in
00:14:07that right arm for Jorge Martín
00:14:09and every corner
00:14:11is a bit of a voyage of discovery
00:14:12it's just trying to understand his physical condition
00:14:15understanding how much pain he's prepared
00:14:17to stomach this weekend to try
00:14:19and chase that dream of the world title
00:14:21fair play to him
00:14:23I mean just to be out there is some
00:14:25some effort I mean we call these guys
00:14:28superhumans not all heroes
00:14:29wear capes I mean the thing is
00:14:31though this is just the norm
00:14:32Marco Betsecki and Marc Marquez rushed yesterday
00:14:35about Jorge Martín coming to
00:14:37Zabang and attempting to ride
00:14:38just a few days after picking up what is
00:14:41a nasty injury from what Jorge Martín
00:14:43himself described as a very nasty crash
00:14:45and both Marc Marquez and Marco Betsecki said
00:14:47well we don't know the exact same thing
00:14:49he's fighting for the world championship
00:14:51he could not really afford
00:14:53if he felt like he had a chance
00:14:55of starting this weekend he had no choice
00:14:57but to come here
00:14:59and give it a go
00:15:01Martin then after his first two
00:15:03flying laps has done a best
00:15:05of a 202.861
00:15:08yeah the first lap of course the out lap
00:15:10Jorge Martín who now rolls out of the way
00:15:12into the first corner
00:15:13of course only Aprilia will know at the moment
00:15:15what the run plan is for Jorge Martín
00:15:17generally what you'd see from riders at the start
00:15:19of a session is they'll go out there and do maybe
00:15:21four or five laps whether Jorge Martín
00:15:24is basically being sent out there
00:15:25fueled up basically said Jorge you stay out there
00:15:28for as long as you feel comfortable
00:15:29and then come in and park it and that's
00:15:31Massimo Rivola left hand side of the picture
00:15:34with obvious concern
00:15:36his other rider of course Marco Badecki
00:15:38he currently leaves this session but I think all of their
00:15:40concern at the moment is for the 89
00:15:42he doesn't stack it very often in
00:15:44sprints does he Jorge Martín that's why it was such a
00:15:46surprise to see him tumbling through the gravel trap
00:15:48at high speed last weekend at turnout in
00:15:50Philippine it was only his sixth sprint
00:15:51DNF in 64
00:15:53Saturday appearances and of course
00:15:56we know he's done winning for fun hasn't he in the sprint format
00:15:5820 sprint wins
00:15:5938 sprint podiums
00:16:01every single movement
00:16:04whether it be there as he rolls the throttle
00:16:06back on through turn nine
00:16:07every single time he moves
00:16:10the throttle every single time he changes
00:16:12body position here to move the
00:16:14a pretty maneuver it try and use the agility
00:16:16of that RSGP
00:16:17flicking it from left through nine then
00:16:19to climb up the hill back right through turn
00:16:2110 just every
00:16:24millimetre motion every millimetre
00:16:26movement is going to be hurting
00:16:28like hell for Martin right now
00:16:30and what every rider would ideally want
00:16:32when they're out there on the racetrack is for it all to feel
00:16:34natural but it doesn't feel natural
00:16:36for Jorge Martín right now
00:16:38and all the time that you're focusing and concentrating
00:16:40on the pain that you're in you're not
00:16:42focusing and concentrating on going as fast
00:16:44as possible and so
00:16:46Jorge Martín it's just a case I think this
00:16:48weekend if he does take part through the rest of the
00:16:50weekend just trying to score whatever points
00:16:52he can this weekend and then
00:16:54rest and regroup for another week
00:16:56before the Grand Prix of Qatar
00:16:58next weekend Mark Marquez who has to try
00:17:00and block everything that's happening to Jorge Martín
00:17:02this weekend out of his mind altogether
00:17:03and focus on his job he takes the
00:17:06other lead in this session on a 158
00:17:089-1-2 yeah I mean Jorge Martín knew
00:17:10he had a personal mountain
00:17:11to climb a Mount Everest to climb
00:17:14really here this weekend he's getting a reminder
00:17:16of just how tough this weekend potentially
00:17:18could be because his two
00:17:19closest tight arrivals
00:17:21immediately after what two
00:17:23flying laps Mark Marquez leads
00:17:25Marco Betzecchi at the early
00:17:27part of this session Mark Marquez
00:17:29wasting no time in getting down
00:17:31to a rapid pace of 158.9-1-2
00:17:34from the world championship
00:17:35leader has got him almost half a second clear
00:17:37of Marco Betzecchi
00:17:39just the two minor GP wins
00:17:42here though previously for the 33
00:17:43old Spaniard win here in 2014
00:17:45all the way back to 2018 for the last time
00:17:47Mark was victorious in front of the
00:17:49Malaysian crowd there's been no podium
00:17:51he won top six in his last three
00:17:54since he was runner-up
00:17:55back in 2019 so not the happiest
00:17:58of recent hunting grounds
00:17:59for our now world championship leader
00:18:01two more wins than a Prudio have got though
00:18:03they've often found this circuit to be their
00:18:05ultimate kryptonite back when
00:18:07Prudio admittedly didn't have as good a motorcycle as they have
00:18:09right now Marco Betzecchi was pretty
00:18:11strong here in pre-season testing
00:18:13although that course was a long long time
00:18:15ago before the summer blip
00:18:18the summer slump of Marco Betzecchi
00:18:20which has left him playing catch-up
00:18:22in this world championship battle
00:18:24of course the Prudio it's often
00:18:25managed to reliability problems the low grip
00:18:27surface here in Tafang has often
00:18:29caught them out so Prudio
00:18:32potentially fearing that they might find
00:18:33themselves in a bit of an uphill battle to beat
00:18:35Ducati here this weekend and that's even with four
00:18:37fit riders of course when the riders and
00:18:39teams come here testing pre-season in February
00:18:41they are very much in test and
00:18:43development mode with an iron getting
00:18:45their bikes dialled in and fine-tuned for the
00:18:47start of every season
00:18:49and then those bikes that
00:18:51technical war will evolve
00:18:53over the course of the season both
00:18:55Mark Marquez and Marco Betzecchi were
00:18:57grilled on this yesterday how different are
00:18:59their Ducati's and Aprilia's compared to
00:19:01the spec of their bikes here in
00:19:03February they were both very cagey both very coy
00:19:06but they did say yeah there's been
00:19:07clear evolutions there's been clear steps
00:19:09forward so sometimes you don't get a reference
00:19:11as Hoy Martin then ends his first stint
00:19:15he completed three laps then
00:19:18one flying lap wasn't really
00:19:20taboo in that session or in that opening
00:19:21salvo from Hoy Martin
00:19:23his best was a 2.02.861 which was
00:19:27just a whisk of shy being four seconds
00:19:30adrift I was going to say a fully fit
00:19:32Mark Marquez but I don't think we can call it
00:19:33any of our title contenders
00:19:35fully fit Mark Marquez his doctor telling
00:19:37us recently that his right arm is
00:19:39only operating at sort of 50%
00:19:42of its normal functionality of course
00:19:44the ongoing issues that Mike's had
00:19:46with his right shoulder his right
00:19:47upper arm from Jerez in 2020
00:19:49Marco Betzecchi has been carrying a
00:19:51rather nasty left knee injury
00:19:53suffered in that horrible Q2 high side
00:19:56in Germany which also fractured the
00:19:57collar bone that's still bothering him
00:19:59so none of our title contenders
00:20:01are fighting for this championship
00:20:03in peak physical shade
00:20:05and it's a bit of a laugh there from
00:20:06Jorge Martin's crew chief Danielia Romagnoli
00:20:08he's just scribbling down in his
00:20:10notepad that doesn't look like a Jorge
00:20:12Martin who's feeding back about his
00:20:13physical condition does it that
00:20:15looks like a Jorge Martin feeding back
00:20:16on how he's I guess feeling on the
00:20:19bike how the bike is responding to
00:20:22this supplying circuit cause
00:20:24competing is one thing actually
00:20:26being competitive is quite another
00:20:28and Jorge Martin won't just want to
00:20:29ride around at the back of the field
00:20:31this weekend if he's going to take part
00:20:32he'll want to take part believing he
00:20:34can actually score some solid points
00:20:36yeah I'm sure they've done what a
00:20:38bike fit for him last night that
00:20:39got him into position into all the
00:20:42different positions when you are out
00:20:44on circuit just sort of checking if
00:20:46he wanted maybe a handlebar position
00:20:48tweaker a brake lever tweak I'm sure
00:20:49he went out this morning with
00:20:50everything set as normal familiarity
00:20:52would have been key for Hoy and then
00:20:54probably the throughout this session
00:20:56or certainly between the two sessions
00:20:57if he does continue this afternoon
00:21:00they'll be able to make some maybe
00:21:02ergonomic tweaks to make him a
00:21:03little bit more comfortable
00:21:05moving forward into the weekend
00:21:07I mean as we mentioned I mean just
00:21:09the fact that he's gone out the
00:21:10fact that he's even still here and
00:21:12not back in Europe already starting
00:21:14what's potentially a long long
00:21:15rehab is a miracle chapeau once
00:21:18again to Martin let's go an update
00:21:20though from the Spaniard from Jack
00:21:22down in pit lane morning buddy
00:21:23yeah good morning to everybody I'm
00:21:25stood right at the back of the box
00:21:26and as you guys rightly predicted you
00:21:28you can see now Dr Angel Charter
00:21:30MotoGP medical director speaking to
00:21:32Jorge Martin but as soon as he sat
00:21:34down he pointed at the track map he
00:21:36started talking about the bike
00:21:37behavior out of turn four which
00:21:39produced a wry smile on the face of
00:21:41Massimo Riebler so much so such was
00:21:43his confidence that things are not as
00:21:45bad as they feared that he took a
00:21:47cursory glance away and a step aside
00:21:49from the debrief and I think there was
00:21:51probably a big sigh of relief coming
00:21:52from Massimo Riebler the communication
00:21:54the conversation ongoing at the moment
00:21:57with Dr Angel Charter alongside
00:21:59Jorge Martin's own personal physio
00:22:01with Dr Angel Charter just at the
00:22:03moment checking just how much
00:22:04pressure he's able to put through
00:22:06that right thumb and that right wrist
00:22:07you might have seen on some of the
00:22:08slow-mo shots as well that that
00:22:10position didn't look particularly
00:22:11natural for guys at home if you
00:22:13lock your wrist and move your
00:22:15forearm and your elbow up to try and
00:22:18make some kind of movement with that
00:22:20wrist to be able to twist the
00:22:21throttle it looked as though that is
00:22:23exactly what Jorge Martin was doing
00:22:25showing that there is obviously
00:22:26given the injury some sort of
00:22:28inability to move the wrist as freely
00:22:30as he would like but as his own
00:22:32personal physio and Dr Angel
00:22:34Charter step away the helmet remains
00:22:36on the glove remains on it looks as
00:22:37though for a first run it's a
00:22:38positive one for Jorge Martin
00:22:41thanks very much Jack
00:22:43Jorge Martin the 28 year old from
00:22:45Madrid they don't really come much
00:22:47tougher than the Martinator he was
00:22:50born tough Ralph Fernandes another
00:22:52rider who's very much walking wounded
00:22:55sort of a bit of grimace from the face
00:22:59of Fernandes it looks like maybe
00:23:01out come the ear plows you can still
00:23:03see what three weeks out of that
00:23:05Indonesian sprint where he suffered
00:23:06those broken right fingers in the
00:23:08right hand this is going to be a test
00:23:10this is right at the end of the
00:23:11start finish rate decelerating from
00:23:13340 km an hour down to first gear
00:23:17second gear here 70 km an hour and he
00:23:19just can't squeeze the brake can he
00:23:21it's just too too painful you just
00:23:24wonder whether Ralph Fernandes having
00:23:26withdrawn last weekend after the
00:23:29sprint in Phillip Island whether his
00:23:31Malaysian Grand Prix might sadly and
00:23:33might unfortunately be coming to a
00:23:35rather premature conclusion
00:23:36yeah it's just as he shakes his
00:23:38right hand there just on the way out
00:23:39of so when you see now from the
00:23:40onboard shot there you go straight away
00:23:42he's just in absolute agony with that
00:23:45right hand the riders just the
00:23:46mindset they're in they almost feel
00:23:48like they owe it to themselves to
00:23:49give it a go but as the letters
00:23:51come off for Ralph Fernandes Dr.
00:23:53Angel Chartre who's getting in the
00:23:55steps this morning he's moved across
00:23:56from the factory Aprilia box to the
00:23:58track house Aprilia box and at what
00:24:00point did track house even step in
00:24:01here and say Ralph enough's enough
00:24:03he looks like he's seen a ghost
00:24:04poor lad he looks like he has seen a
00:24:07ghost as we looked at those live
00:24:09pictures inside the track house
00:24:11garage obviously just sure what's
00:24:14going to happen what's going to
00:24:15unfold in the final half an hour of
00:24:16this session but clearly already
00:24:18Ralph Fernandes not entertaining a
00:24:21rapid return to the Spang
00:24:22international circuit is he at all
00:24:24there's he just stripped himself
00:24:26down to his waist in the
00:24:27leathers Dr. Angel Chartre at the
00:24:29manager GP medic immediately on the
00:24:31scene it didn't look good though
00:24:32didn't it for poor old Ralph
00:24:34Fernandes I mean when you think
00:24:36about how much he suffered in
00:24:37Australia certainly not helped by the
00:24:39big bruising free practice one crash
00:24:40this time last week down under but
00:24:43the fact that it seems that this
00:24:44injury has just got worse and worse
00:24:46and worse it just shows what a
00:24:48truly out of this world ride he
00:24:50produced to finish second and leave
00:24:52for so much of that mandalika
00:24:53Grand Prix over in Indonesia when the
00:24:55injury was fresh it seemed like he
00:24:57could deal with the pain he could
00:24:58sort of cope with the the searing
00:25:00agony but as that injury has evolved
00:25:03and as he's done more riding more
00:25:05pushing these 300 horsepower motor
00:25:07GP bikes to their absolute limits
00:25:08sometimes the body just can't can't
00:25:11hang in there any longer the body
00:25:12just cries no more Ralph Fernandes
00:25:14then leaves the track house of
00:25:16earlier box we remind you we said
00:25:17at the start session his condition
00:25:19was subject to a review at the end
00:25:21of this free practice one session
00:25:23and I don't hold out but an awful lot
00:25:25of hope at the moment for that
00:25:26review just judging by the body
00:25:28language of the 25 yeah it's a real
00:25:31tough watch isn't it to see Ralph
00:25:33Fernandes struggling and suffering
00:25:35as much as what he is well as we
00:25:37just mentioned there are very much
00:25:38walking wounded down at Aprile
00:25:40aren't they right now no guarantee
00:25:41that Ralph Fernandes and Jorge
00:25:43Martin will be participating
00:25:45throughout this Malaysian Grand Prix
00:25:47weekend let's get some early
00:25:49thoughts here at this free practice
00:25:50one from the boss Paolo Benora who
00:25:52joins Jack yeah great to be joined
00:25:54by Paolo first laps done for Jorge
00:25:56Martin obvious first question Paolo
00:25:57how was the wrist yeah not easy not
00:26:00easy for sure he said clearly to us
00:26:04step by step guys we have to
00:26:08understand the way to manage the
00:26:11pain this morning he did only something
00:26:16related to the bandage he take he
00:26:20took anti-inflammatory and painkiller
00:26:22not not so much so in order to
00:26:27understand in a better way how to
00:26:29manage the bike but yeah the key is to
00:26:33wait and we will see during the session
00:26:35now we can manage manage the
00:26:37situation manage the power manage the
00:26:39movement the changing direction will
00:26:41not be easy after that first lap what
00:26:44did he say the pain levels were like
00:26:45how did he have to change his riding
00:26:48style given the injury yeah at the
00:26:50moment is managing in a very good way he
00:26:54said clearly I expect to be worse in the
00:26:57first but the key now is to wait after
00:27:02many laps because probably two or three
00:27:04laps he can manage but after it will be
00:27:07very very difficult so what's the plan
00:27:09now until the end of the session take it
00:27:13easy for sure not the push so much don't
00:27:17make a lot of laps in order to be with a
00:27:22to have a little bit more energy for the
00:27:25for the practice thanks paula thanks
00:27:27yeah thanks very much jack thanks to
00:27:30paula banora i mean hoi martin has got
00:27:32to face 30 long and punishing race
00:27:36laps here this weekend in malaysia
00:27:38tomorrow at 3 p.m local time will be
00:27:40lights out for the 10-lap sprint and
00:27:42then as always double the distance here
00:27:43on sunday over 20 laps i mean what's he
00:27:46contending with i mean the official
00:27:48medical diagnosis of hoi martin is a
00:27:50distal radius fracture commonly known to
00:27:53most of us as a broken wrist it's a
00:27:55breaking the larger forearm bone close to
00:27:58the wrist joint the most common cause
00:28:01of that is a fall onto an outstretched
00:28:03hand symptoms include immediate pain
00:28:05tenderness rapid onset swelling around
00:28:08the wrist so yes just to give you an
00:28:12indication of just what hoi martin is
00:28:14going to have to contend with here this
00:28:15weekend he is though fair play to him
00:28:17soldiering on he's plowing on just you
00:28:19knew he would do he's one of
00:28:20motogp's ultimate gladiators isn't he
00:28:23one of motogp's ultimate warriors
00:28:26nothing nothing it was going to seem
00:28:28going to keep this young man off that
00:28:29are brilliant at the moment well that
00:28:31sign said jorge martin 2026 world
00:28:33champion he's not there yet but take it
00:28:36from us make no mistake if by the end of
00:28:38valencia in a month's time jorge
00:28:40martin is lifting the tower of champions
00:28:42as motogp world champion he will have
00:28:45absolutely earned it he will have been
00:28:47through the kind of experience that
00:28:49none of us could even in our worst of
00:28:51nightmares begin to imagine the pain and
00:28:54discomfort that he's having to go through
00:28:56right now but that's the only thing he
00:28:58knows it's the only thing moto gp
00:29:00riders know is to go to the limit of
00:29:04your pain threshold and then push through
00:29:06it so this is martin then the start of
00:29:10his second run while we're on the subject
00:29:12of injuries and walking wounded let's cover
00:29:14up a bit of a housekeeping shall we because
00:29:16there is a fair bit to get to luca
00:29:18marini a factory honda colleague to this
00:29:21rider we're seeing on screens right now
00:29:22juan me is back in action this weekend
00:29:23of course he did just two laps in
00:29:25philip island last time out before
00:29:28retiring from the weekend no finger
00:29:30rather bizarre marini was saying this
00:29:32virus that he seemed to have been struck
00:29:34down by down under no finger and foot
00:29:37movement he likened it to arthritis it was
00:29:40really rather concerning uh for luca
00:29:42marini who hopefully this weekend will
00:29:44finally make his 200th grand prix start
00:29:46and we do welcome back a 29 year old
00:29:49Spaniard juan mir of course who has
00:29:51missed the last four grand prix at the
00:29:53red bull ring in martaigi mandalica and
00:29:56in philip island he hasn't actually it's
00:29:58the first time mir has been on a
00:29:59motor gp bike since september the 13th
00:30:02at the arrow but the misano grand prix i
00:30:05should say he did reveal yesterday
00:30:07mir that he has been suffering from
00:30:10chronic fatigue issues some rather
00:30:13nasty sounding vision issues as well
00:30:15they all sound like they're sort of
00:30:16stress related vision and fatigue issues
00:30:19but good to see mir is back in action
00:30:21here this weekend of course no top
00:30:23rack rasgatlioglu we know his season
00:30:25over after his dislocated shoulder
00:30:27over in mandlika his place prima
00:30:30yamaha once again goes to augusto
00:30:32fernandez the former motor 2 world
00:30:34champion yamaha's test rider and
00:30:36still no firmin aldeguer who was crown
00:30:39rookie of the year he made a gp here
00:30:4012 months ago in sepang the broken
00:30:43right hand that aldeguer suffered in
00:30:45that bizarre crash when he punched the
00:30:47tarmac in frustration in mandlika
00:30:50sees him still missing for guzzini
00:30:51ducati iqlaqiuona world superbike
00:30:54championship runner-up in 2026 once
00:30:56again stepping in for him let's go back
00:30:59down to jack though and get an update
00:31:00on ralph fernandez yeah as you guys
00:31:02assumed we've now just had official
00:31:04confirmation from the team ralph
00:31:05fernandez out for the remainder of
00:31:08this malaysian grand prix weekend he's
00:31:10in the back of the box now talking to
00:31:11his team in his usual team clothing i'm
00:31:14stood in a queue with a whole host of
00:31:16other broadcasters hoping to speak to
00:31:18david abrivio inside the next five
00:31:20minutes just so we can hear what the
00:31:21next steps will be for ralph fernandez
00:31:23but confirmation that the spaniards out of
00:31:26the malaysian grand prix thanks jack
00:31:28unfortunately news we didn't want to
00:31:30hear but news that we certainly feared
00:31:32you could just tell from the expression
00:31:33on his face when he sat down slumped in
00:31:36his chair and started speaking to his
00:31:37crew chief and noe herrera and also
00:31:39speaking to official motor gp medic
00:31:41doctor angel stracha there was just no
00:31:43way that he could fight through the pain
00:31:45barrier push through the pain barrier
00:31:47once again so fernandez's weekend over
00:31:49after just five laps around the sepang
00:31:52international circuit fair place a
00:31:53minute the five laps he did were pretty
00:31:55rapid at two zero zero point five a
00:31:58one but weekend over for the 26 year old
00:32:01spaniel i guess we have to say as well
00:32:02now major major doubts about whether he
00:32:04will be fit to participate in round 20
00:32:07at the la salle international circuit in
00:32:09Qatar next weekend it just sounds like
00:32:11louis he needs a a period of rest
00:32:14mandelica philip island the short five
00:32:16laps this morning have been absolute
00:32:18hell for ralph anandis he has been
00:32:19riding in agony sound like he just
00:32:21needs to go home get a bit of r and r
00:32:23and rest those fingers for our final
00:32:25two european rounds in portama and
00:32:27valentia at the end of next month and
00:32:28as he demonstrated and said to us
00:32:29last weekend in philip island that the
00:32:31more laps he's doing the more he's
00:32:32potentially damaging his finger as
00:32:35that inflammation begins to flare up
00:32:37once again jorge martin he's about to
00:32:39lift himself up the order now he's
00:32:40he goes up into 19th place he's
00:32:43actually gone ahead of ayagura on the
00:32:45track house of prettier in this
00:32:47session he's two and a half seconds
00:32:48off the pace is jorge martin but just
00:32:51the fact that he's doing this is
00:32:52impressive enough and just every of
00:32:55course with the potential changes to
00:32:56the bike potential further
00:32:57understanding of just how he can try
00:32:59and compensate with his body to
00:33:01manage the situation will all just be
00:33:03useful information to hoi martin was
00:33:05optimistic and promising initial
00:33:07feedback from the box down in pink
00:33:10lane from aprilia the hoi martin from
00:33:13paulo bonora confirming that the pain
00:33:14is not as bad as he expected it's like a
00:33:18silly human reaction but every time i see
00:33:20hoi martin knowing how much pain is in
00:33:21every time he breaks i'm wincing myself
00:33:24in the comedy box it's ridiculous
00:33:26you're just sort of like watching it
00:33:28through your fingers aren't you here
00:33:29as pedro acosta the factory ktm star
00:33:33fourth in the world championship coming
00:33:35into this malaysian grand prix happy
00:33:38memories of sepang here last year for
00:33:39the 22 year old spaniard he was second
00:33:41in the grand prix third in the sprint
00:33:43one of only six double podiums across
00:33:47the grand prix weekend that acosta has
00:33:48managed in 58 he's one of a handful of
00:33:52riders this morning having an early look
00:33:54at the hard rear tire you can see there
00:33:58vignale's looking at our graphics the
00:33:59ktm's have gone early to have a look at
00:34:01the hard rear vignale's bastionini
00:34:03brad binder pedro acosta so all four
00:34:06ktm's right now are on circuit on the
00:34:08hard rear tire so too is peco bagnaya
00:34:11alex marquez who is going to be one
00:34:13to watch here this weekend is the alex
00:34:162025 malaysian grand prix winner won
00:34:19them at a two world title right here
00:34:20back in 2019 a former sprint winner here
00:34:22and he was the fastest rider here in
00:34:24the february test many people already
00:34:26have bookmarked alex as the pre
00:34:28weekend sepang favorites well sad news
00:34:32then to kick off this chapter 19 in
00:34:342026 ral fernandez having to withdraw
00:34:37from the malaysian grand prix having
00:34:39complete just five painful laps in
00:34:41free practice for this morning let's get
00:34:42some thoughts from the boss davide brivio
00:34:44with jack
00:34:45yeah davide is aigura teammate to ral fernandez
00:34:48just exit over our right hand shoulder
00:34:50a huge shame that raul out for the
00:34:52remainder of the the weekend just talk
00:34:54us through what the next steps are going
00:34:56to be for him now with obviously
00:34:58catar next weekend and port of mount valencia
00:35:00a couple of weeks after that yeah raul has
00:35:03been judged uh fit yesterday under review to
00:35:07be reviewed this morning but the pain is
00:35:10too much i mean somehow he's in the most
00:35:13critical phase of his fracture process
00:35:15because now is when the fracture is going
00:35:18to be held to be fixed and this is the most delicate
00:35:23where you feel more pain and also without saying
00:35:29that a crash can compromise a lot of the situation
00:35:33so dr charter came here he checked and talked to raul and he
00:35:38declared unfit for this weekend so we will take this opportunity
00:35:42send him back as soon as possible and work in spain with his
00:35:47and the proper equipment in order to get fixed for qatar
00:35:53i mean this is a looks to be seems to be according to the doctor the
00:35:57crucial week for to getting fixed and so we try to use as much as possible
00:36:04these days these coming days and getting back to qatar
00:36:08the good news is does it sound like surgery is required
00:36:11does it sound like surgery is necessary just basically just needs to let the finger rest
00:36:16yeah yeah probably needs to go under manutenity hyperbaric chamber
00:36:22whatever whatever it is as much as possible all the treatment
00:36:26but this week can be very important for the
00:36:31to get a fix let's say so let's do that
00:36:34thanks davide appreciate it
00:36:36thanks jack thanks to davide brivia yeah we certainly hope for a speedy recovery
00:36:41to ralph and anders and we certainly hope that in seven days time a week today
00:36:45he will be fit to participate or at least start next weekend's grand prix of qatar
00:36:52before he's about to exit for the third time here this morning in free practice one
00:36:57we just saw there once again a constant companion for jorge martin right now isn't he
00:37:01the doctor angel chartre for he's managing their injury
00:37:05i mean every single tv broadcaster here has been forming an orderly queue to get to speak to palvinora
00:37:11he's managing injury very well he said he expected worse the plan now is to push a lot
00:37:15not do too many laps to save energy for practice
00:37:19unreal just unreal what he's doing out there right now jorge martin i mean with the broken right wrist
00:37:26he's still got vinales agura and lecuona behind him on the timing screen so far this morning
00:37:31many riders uh many disciplines around the world who would give their right arm the right arm that jorge
00:37:37martin has broken for a 201 uh 285 lap of sepang which jorge martin has already done this morning
00:37:44saving his energy for practice of course because that is the session this afternoon the one hour practice
00:37:49session later on which determines the ten riders that automatically go through to qualifying two
00:37:55it's almost doesn't bear thinking about the possibility that martin could achieve that and get himself into qualifying two
00:38:00but of course if he is able to do that this afternoon he would save himself 15 minutes of work
00:38:05in qualifying tomorrow morning
00:38:06there's uh angel chartre there's an alpine stars technician there with a blonde hair with a red shirt
00:38:11just behind uh holy martin so there might be some adjustments here being made to his riding equipment
00:38:17of course it's an evolving situation every single lap
00:38:20but jorge martin is going to be understanding what he needs physically
00:38:25and what he needs from himself and the bike position wise to get the most comfortable
00:38:29that's what it's all about he knows he's going to be riding in pain
00:38:32that's an accepted risk it's an accepted hazard of being a mother gp racer
00:38:37so he knew the way the cards have fallen this weekend he knew he's going to be riding in pain
00:38:40it's just all about now making himself as comfortable as he possibly can
00:38:44so maybe an adjustment to the gloves maybe an adjustment to the sort of lower arm
00:38:49maybe x maybe make it less tighter on the forearm as well because that could be a factor
00:38:54so i wouldn't be surprised if there's some uh some suit adjustments from alpine stars uh for hall
00:38:59this is a rapidly evolving situation which will change lap by lap
00:39:03you saw there didn't we a doctor angel chartre in the white shirt
00:39:05feeding back some comments to massimo rieveler
00:39:08between the racing ceo and alpine stars there right on cue
00:39:11as you'd expect they would be ready uh to implement some uh rather rapid changes
00:39:16rather rapid modifications to jorge martin's racing equipment
00:39:20yeah but it's all the uh riding equipment providers of which of course uh alpine stars are on
00:39:25we're already on board with uh marco matecki who's uh running dain easy leather
00:39:28you can see just the logo uh just uh below his lower back and they're well versed in this
00:39:34of course these manufacturers they're used to providing equipment for riders who are injured in some way
00:39:39and are trying to either mitigate or just block out any sort of pain uh that they're suffering from
00:39:45or discomfort trying to ride the bikes in a very different way which requires uh riding equipment
00:39:51that accommodates that so that's essentially the situation that jorge martin is in
00:39:55we were chatting on fair while we're hearing from uh david a bribeo there
00:39:58and we saw the box in the top of the fan corner with jorge martin
00:40:00if you just looked at his facial expression you didn't know the context you wouldn't even know he was injured
00:40:05because he's not showing any obvious visible signs of pain at the moment through the little letter box
00:40:11through the crash helmet that we're able to look at when he has his visor open uh down there at
00:40:16aprilia
00:40:17it almost looks in a perverse sort of way as if jorge martin is relishing the challenge
00:40:22every single manufacturer of riding equipment here across the board in mana gp whether it be boots
00:40:28whether it be leathers whether it be gloves whether it be helmets whether it be chest protectors
00:40:32back protectors you name it they all have dedicated on-site service teams at every single Grand Prix
00:40:39which allows them to react to situations exactly what jorge martin is going through right now
00:40:45i mean these better gp bikes we're told that they are estimated value they are prototyped
00:40:52built purely for racing you can't walk down your local showroom and ask to buy a jorge martin
00:40:57rs gp or a mark marcus factory ducati the estimates on how much these bike cost is around a million
00:41:02euros
00:41:03to 1.5 million euros would never underestimate the power and influence of a good old-fashioned sewing machine
00:41:09on the modern gp world challenge because that will possibly that's what it's going to be called into action
00:41:13very very soon if hoy martin wants some leather adjustments or some blunt adjustments the old sewing machine's
00:41:19to come to rescue again comes in awfully handy of course all of the developments that get made to
00:41:24levers to boots to gloves to crash helmets of course that all does naturally feed back into the equipment
00:41:29that you will ride on on your motorcycles at home you in many respects on the roads are as safe
00:41:36as you've
00:41:36ever been in your right equipment because of the development of technology that are made by the likes of
00:41:41by denizi etc in providing the fastest and as we're seeing today the bravest riders in the world with
00:41:49the very best equipment to try and go out there and compete yeah our five stars day needs of course
00:41:54at the
00:41:54forefront of the airbag technology which there's so much now not just to protect the world's best riders but
00:42:01road riders back all over the world as well there's been some incredible advances on there in safety equipment
00:42:07down the years and right at the forefront of it has been mother gp as we look at an eco
00:42:12like a won't up
00:42:13the spanish rider deputizing once again for fermin aldeguer missing on board that gazzini ducati
00:42:20because of his bizarre incident when he crashed out of contention in mandalica three weeks ago and in
00:42:25frustration as he was sliding across the tarmac at turn 16 giving the tarmac a proper good oh blimey some
00:42:32aero front front fenders drops off the front fender there i mean you are going down that back straight
00:42:38here in malaysia it's well over 340 kilometers an hour but yeah the front fender has decided to park
00:42:43company uh with uh lakona's bk was he the catty we don't expect well we're hoping there's been no
00:42:50confirmation as yet about whether aldeguer 2025 mila gp rookie of the year will be fit and fully recovered to
00:42:58return uh to catar next time out of course he's had an injury ravaged campaign hasn't he uh aldeguer
00:43:04this is the sixth grand prix he's missing this year with three completely different injuries
00:43:09injuries left femur testing in valencia in january and fracture of his t7 vertebrae and he's back in
00:43:16acid like that red flag is out because of the debris i can only shoot just as jorge martin has
00:43:20left pitlane uh to go
00:43:22back out for another run there's clearly a bit of grassini ducati littered along the back straight between turns 14
00:43:27and 15
00:43:27so uh the session has been suspended that will just give the marshals that little bit of all the time
00:43:34they need in the safest possible way uh to retrieve that some of that debris which uh johann mir
00:43:42and jogo morea rather the brazilian just uh manages to take avoiding action so all these riders then now
00:43:49as uh per protocol as soon as you have the red flag you must make your way immediately if you
00:43:54can do so
00:43:55back to pitlane so that red flag that slight disruption then we'll just give the trackside
00:44:00marshals he does such phenomenal work here volunteering at circuits all around the world
00:44:06leco on there just making sure that disintegrating offender didn't cause any
00:44:09additional damage to the bodywork of his ducati gp26
00:44:14here's the look of it you'll just see see the front fender covering the uh front tire there just
00:44:19disintegrating on its way down to the final corner one of the vr46 ducati riders had a face full of
00:44:25it
00:44:25as he was making his way uh down the uh back straight so a rather naked uh front tire uh
00:44:31for uh ike lakona
00:44:32who's having a good look to his left hand side who might not be fully aware at this stage just
00:44:36what flew off
00:44:37he looked like he might have got a bit of a whack there on the boat he looked like he
00:44:40was just going
00:44:41down to i mean at that speed i mean it's only his carbon fiber that fender so it's super light
00:44:47of course they try and make these motorcycles as light as they possibly can because the lighter they
00:44:51are the faster they are but you could just see their leco owner i mean when even sort of a
00:44:55carbon
00:44:55fiber part disintegrates it over 300 kilometers an hour when it makes contact with your boot it's gonna
00:45:01hurt it's gonna be a bit of an unexpected jolt on that leg for leco now you see him back
00:45:07in the pit
00:45:07and he looks a-okay so he wasn't expecting that though as he was attacking that braking zone
00:45:12this is jorge martin now going through that particular part of the racetrack uh i'd say i
00:45:16thought he might be going to slightly slower uh than that uh given that that was where the uh
00:45:21debris uh was but jorge martin uh back into pit lane that couldn't have come at the worst time
00:45:25really that for jorge martin who was uh meters out of the pit exit uh when the session was stopped
00:45:31you could just see that jorge as he looked down to his right hander bar just engaging the pit lane
00:45:37speed limiter button of course all the manufacturers they have to carry that button it's mandatory as
00:45:43you are coming to a white line designated every single circuit as you enter pit lane there's an
00:45:48automatic system which just cuts and retards the power down to 60 kilometers an hour of course depending
00:45:55on the different manufacturers it'll be or in the right of preference it'll be positioned in different
00:45:59parts of the the handlebar setup so martin you could just saw in there just stretch out that that right
00:46:05hand that right wrist there's his father angel martin with the 89 polo shirt on saw him yesterday here
00:46:12in the supang paddock having a very long discussion with uh gp medic dr angel chartret i dare say when
00:46:19jorge martin left the pit lane there he didn't realize at that stage what the red flag was for
00:46:23uh so perhaps wouldn't have been quite aware when he was coming out of turn 14 of the debris up
00:46:28ahead
00:46:28of him that has now been cleared though and free practice one uh will restart at 11 23 local time
00:46:33you can now see that on your screen so that is in 80 seconds from now
00:46:42so a slight pause in proceedings before under somewhat cloudy skies happy to report that we
00:46:47do have some blue sky peeking through some heavy cloud cover because as always in this part of the
00:46:52world we were treated to a spectacular uh storm here last night when we left the circuit just after 7pm
00:46:57the sky being lit up by spectacular lightning there was some big big claps of thunder let's go down and
00:47:04get an early check on how the world championship leader is faring this morning in free practice
00:47:08upon here in supang so far so good it looks like because mark marquez the only rider so far before
00:47:12the red flag to find a lap in the 158 let's get some early thoughts from the boss davide tardarts
00:47:18here's with jack yeah close to half second advantage for mark marquez at this early stage which is a
00:47:22pretty impressive start we'll touch on that in a second just firstly davide you've seen mark come back
00:47:28from injury after injury even in the short time that he's been with the factory ducati squad so
00:47:33i'm sure you're pretty impressed at what you're seeing down in the aprilio box this morning and
00:47:37the mentality this toughness that jorge martin is showing yeah as i already said that we know very
00:47:43well jorge is a hero he's a fighter so i'm sure that he will try hard to collect at least
00:47:50one point
00:47:50maybe hope for him that will be more but yeah we we knew before that jorge was going to do
00:47:58it in terms of
00:47:59mark so often he's told us that this supang venue maybe doesn't suit him and his riding style but
00:48:04the time sheets tell a different story this morning is it fair to say he's clicked pretty early
00:48:09on here yeah i guess that everybody now is uh on the first uh uh settings or maybe somebody will
00:48:18uh
00:48:18will improve his time while uh on our side
00:48:31just finally i've not really spoken to you about peco bagnaya too often over the last couple of weeks
00:48:37because it's been such a uh a horrible sight to see really for someone of his talent level to be
00:48:43struggling as much as he is but it was nice to see yesterday that he had a smile back on
00:48:48his face
00:48:49this is a venue he's been successful at of course victorious in the sprint last year fasting pre-season
00:48:54as well this feels like a a big weekend for him to try and re-find some confidence it's obvious
00:48:59that uh
00:49:01him first of uh of all is uh uh asking a lot on this race track from himself but uh
00:49:09in the end
00:49:10we do expect uh he will be competitive because uh these right these race track it suit perfectly
00:49:15our bike and uh and his riding style so the package is there then uh then we'll see thanks
00:49:22have a day good luck thank you thanks jack thanks to factory the katie lenovo team boss
00:49:26uh daviday told obviously for those observations they know they all know uh what a warrior jorge
00:49:32martin is they saw him push peka bagnaya all the way to ultimately winning the world championship
00:49:37when he was on a pram at the katie didn't he back in 2024 they know exactly the skills that
00:49:42that
00:49:43young man blesses so they will know that you can never ever write off jorge martin you can never
00:49:49discount this guy when the chips are down it's almost like when the more you push jorge martin's
00:49:54back up against the wall the more you stick him on the ropes the more he comes out fighting the
00:49:59more
00:49:59he comes out swinging the more adverse the situation gets the more he relishes it he kind of loves that
00:50:04underdog tag doesn't he yeah and he's been through plenty of uh dramatic experiences here at the
00:50:11sapang national circuit that the jorge martin story uh has several chapters around spang won the
00:50:16moto 3 world championship here in 2018 when ironically he was battling marco betsecki uh his
00:50:23current aprilia teammate for the world championship and of course his aprilia journey uh began here with
00:50:29a dramatic high side in just 12 laps of pre-season testing at the start of 2025 because that was
00:50:35where
00:50:35his injury hell of 2025 began so whatever hoi martin does uh this sapang circuit just appears to be central
00:50:43to his story and yeah as you say he thrives on pushing through adversity but surely he hasn't
00:50:50been through adversity quite like this before he's also had the unfortunate circumstance of crashing out
00:50:57of the lead here wasn't he in 2022 when he was 1.2 seconds clear max biaggi well there's not
00:51:04a lot
00:51:04max as i've seen and here's long connect connections with the mana gp world championship mana gp legend
00:51:09four times 250 cc world champion one of the stack of races in mana gp and in world super bikes
00:51:16one of
00:51:17the rare grand prix and world super bike champions back in the day still very much an integral part of
00:51:23aprilia playing an ambassadorial role uh for the nawali factory and he will be impressed he'll be be
00:51:30impressed by what he's seeing from martin or sort of lower body wise he looks perfectly normal doesn't
00:51:38he when he's braking for turn four out goes the very uh distinctive air brake leg dangle uh from
00:51:44martin that was him braking hard into turn four which is a real tricky braking zone that because as
00:51:50you approach turn four you're already in fifth gear about 280 kilometers an hour and it's an uphill
00:51:55braking zone that so you've got to really be really have to be careful with the front end see a
00:51:59few
00:51:59riders run wide or watch the front out of turn four because you're decelerating almost 200 k's down
00:52:05from fifth to second gear he's managing this at the moment quite superable isn't he martin his head
00:52:10will be telling him to push uh his right arm will be telling him not to it's this case of
00:52:14whether his
00:52:15heart uh overrules the rest of his body martin now making his way through the long right-handed
00:52:21sequence of turns 10 and 11 and now in a to a part of the circuit where when you're fully
00:52:26fit this requires
00:52:27plenty of commitment the high speed turn 12 13 sequence taken in third gear and about 160 kilometers
00:52:34an hour now into turn 15 and this is a lot that Jorge Martin this might move him up into
00:52:40the sort of
00:52:40uh top 13 top 14 if he keeps this going i mean the best time we've seen so far from
00:52:46Marc Marquez is a
00:52:48158 so let's say 118 seconds you're on the brakes around so pan for 35 seconds you're doing an awful
00:52:55lot
00:52:55of time holding on to that front brake lever it's not just the fact that the braking zones are
00:53:01aggressive there's a lot of deceleration forces they are long braking zones where you're holding on to
00:53:06that front brake for a good three or four seconds which is just going to be adding to the pain
00:53:11for
00:53:11martin this time around he does decide to back out of it just ringing that little bit hot on that
00:53:17run
00:53:17down to the first corner i mean he's now 16th he's ahead okay yeah he's ahead of two world champions
00:53:23me is a bit ring rusty because he's missed the last four grand prix uh through stress-related fatigue and
00:53:29vision issues fabio quite a rather there's nothing wrong with fabio other than the fact that he's on a
00:53:33rather uncompetitive factory yamaha right now morbidelli augura augusto fernandez nicole
00:53:39one the two replacement riders i mean martin's on a two zero zero point seven four seven he's half a
00:53:46second off the top six on this all hey martin zarko's sixth on a two zero zero one five three
00:53:51martin on
00:53:52a two zero zero seven uh in 16th place if you just looked at that one image you'd be wondering
00:53:59what
00:53:59all the fuss was about but believe me that is a whole hey martin far from his physical best
00:54:04mark marquez said himself yesterday as these guys are well versed and they know mark said himself
00:54:10adrenaline that is the world's ultimate painkiller if you could bottle adrenaline uh you'd be a
00:54:16billionaire overnight so this man he knows what it is like that to push brain and body right to its
00:54:24edge mark marquez this has been a brilliant opening session hasn't it from the number 93 at the early
00:54:31158.912 on lap three of 12 this is just mark going through his master plan this is mark and
00:54:38his factory
00:54:38ducati team just running their normal program the normal strategy won't have changed tires but second
00:54:44across nothing to buy those two in second they have set the exact same lap time which is some feet
00:54:49around a 5.5 kilometer layout those two shared a 159.386 yeah 15 different corners we were talking
00:54:58about different tire combinations different bikes different aero different riders on board
00:55:03and they're still lapping the circuit in absolute identical time and as i mentioned earlier on in the
00:55:07session for mark marquez he's just got to ignore the obvious uh focus that will be on jorge martin
00:55:14this weekend and his fractured arm and march has got to do his own job here this weekend
00:55:18because the worst thing mark marquez could do now is make a silly mistake this weekend score no points
00:55:24and let jorge martin essentially off the hook so mark it it sounds like a very mean thing to say
00:55:30but
00:55:30it's a crew crucial crew business at the end of the day that fighting for a world championship
00:55:34mark marquez has to go up there and try and dish out maximum points punishment to jorge martin
00:55:40they might be as a softness when we come to this tropical climate of malaysia a potential
00:55:46rain disruption coming there is rain forecast uh for periods of tomorrow just a reminder 3 pm local
00:55:53time will be the 10 lap sprint if it the rain hits in the morning well it could be a
00:55:57wet qualifying q1
00:55:59uh 10 50 a.m local time and that of course will then be followed immediately by our fight for
00:56:04pole
00:56:05position 19 q2 at 11 15 a.m local time there are forecasts for thunderstorms potentially in this part
00:56:12of the world this part of southeast asia on sunday this phenomenal serious thunderstorms around here
00:56:17yeah they are we saw them we witnessed the first time last night when we made about a hundred meter
00:56:21walk from the media center to our car and when we got there we were like drowned rats i mean
00:56:28it looked
00:56:28like we'd taken the ice bucket challenge once again but to the extreme yeah we were absolutely sodden we
00:56:34were drenched my train is actually going to say still trying to dry out and this was uh what about
00:56:4018
00:56:40hours ago when we left the circuit last night so yeah it's certainly i think it's some flights
00:56:44actually with delay coming into the nearby quala lupa international airport nothing's going to stop
00:56:49mark marquez flying right now there is as he looks to uh show more consistent pace his last lap was
00:56:56a
00:56:56two zero zero point five one five this is with 13 laps on those tires this is pedro costa trying
00:57:03to
00:57:03go with mark marquez and very nearly going down the front end that took for an age there a shake
00:57:09of the
00:57:09head from pedro costa asking himself how did i save that
00:57:14yeah that was a nice one that's not a one to add to the costa save collection
00:57:20it's just digging the older knee in there wasn't his crew chief paul trevathan
00:57:24uh watches on the action yeah costa started this weekend strongly hasn't he
00:57:29having made the uh the podium twice here last year in both the grand prix
00:57:34and in the sprint you can see in there just going back through the gearbox you can tell how hard
00:57:38he was
00:57:38brain because you can see how aggressive that left leg came out to try and use it as an airbrake
00:57:42that's a
00:57:43cracking say that is a great save isn't it by a cost you could just check the angle of that
00:57:48front tire
00:57:48that was not the angle of that front tire was supposed to make yeah that's that's exactly
00:57:53that is the body language everybody was doing after they saw that brilliant super save from a costa
00:57:58wonderful to watch so jorge martin returns once again to the pretty box martine has done
00:58:0312 laps in this session which is not far off the busiest rider in this session his teammate
00:58:09marco betsecki is one of several who have done 15 laps jorge martin who admittedly has been in and out
00:58:16of the pits more often than anyone else so a lot of his laps have been out and ends but
00:58:20martin has
00:58:20exactly been uh limiting the mileage you have to say what's been quite notable at hoy martin as well as
00:58:25every time he's coming to pits he's not even taking his helmet or his gloves off he's not
00:58:30just paused for a breather i'm guessing because it's just too painful it will be too painful he's
00:58:36just trying to even limit the amount of times that yeah the sensible thing most riders would do in these
00:58:41extremely hot tropical conditions is to take the helm off get some fresh air get a cold towel draped
00:58:47around the neck get an ice pack on your head just to try and keep yourself cooled down in some
00:58:51of the
00:58:51most hottest and humid conditions we have well here we go that might well session over isn't it
00:58:55that is the first time then in the whole session that we've seen this from martin it's because
00:59:00there's only 50 seconds of it remaining superb stunning herculean effort brilliant
00:59:09yeah he wouldn't he wouldn't have wanted to have taken that glove off at any point before because
00:59:13just look how long it's taken i mean normally he wouldn't even think about that he'd released the strap
00:59:19around his wrist and he just tug his hand out no problem yeah i'll give the practice start session
00:59:24a miss i think is what jorge martin is saying to his team uh dan of course as always fp1
00:59:30a practice
00:59:30start session follows fp1 i would assume based on what we've just seen that jorge martin is deciding
00:59:35to sit that one out and the next few hours are going to be uh quite uh interesting aren't they
00:59:40for jorge martin of course the adrenaline still will be coursing through his body that will all seep
00:59:45away over the next uh three and a half hours before he's back out on track for practice
00:59:49this afternoon so the big question now will be how will jorge martin's body and more to the point how
00:59:54will jorge martin's right arm stand up uh to uh the lack of adrenaline that'll be going through his body
01:00:00uh as he rests up now for practice later i mean he did say himself that if he wasn't for
01:00:05the fact that
01:00:05the world title was still within his grasp if he was out of the world championship he'd be already back
01:00:11in
01:00:11andora starting uh his recovery you just look at what sort of non-surgical treatment options are
01:00:17uh for the fracture that uh distal radius fracture that hoy martin suffered in the philip island sprint
01:00:24i mean the normal treatment moving forward is you immobilize the wrist using a splint
01:00:29or a plaster cast for four to six weeks six days since he suffered that fracture he's muscling
01:00:37a 300 horsepower well it is it's the fastest grand prix motorcycle in history because jorge martin rode it
01:00:46to the fastest top speed ever in history at migello just shy of 370 kilometers an hour in the tuscany
01:00:52mountains here he is what six days later around one of the fastest tracks on the calendar there's a big
01:00:59ice pack going straight on that right wrist he is six days out of philip island setting the 20th best
01:01:06time
01:01:061.8 seconds back what a rider what a warrior what a gladiator what an effort
01:01:14what next for jorge martin who uh again he's describing with his with his hand movements there
01:01:21how the bike is performing rather than how his his arm is he's treating it almost as any other weekend
01:01:26trust us this is not a normal experience uh for jorge martin yeah a bit more preload on the front
01:01:33there
01:01:33yeah just uh harder spring on the rear i mean yeah he's going to be now pushing those april engineers
01:01:38he's going to be sitting looking at data in the lunch break to try and find out how he can
01:01:43find more
01:01:44speed sure there's going to be some uh equipment tweaks as well we saw didn't we alpine stars in
01:01:49there dr angel chartre once again immediately having a chat uh with the 28 year old spaniard of course a
01:01:57review now has to be uh carried out with jorge martin of course we've or we already know how the
01:02:01ralph and and his review has gone he is out if you're just joining us uh for the rest of
01:02:05the weekend
01:02:05ralph and and it was 17th in that fp1 session but the the pain and the inflammation on his finger
01:02:10too
01:02:10much uh he is out of the rest of the weekend a review will now take place to determine of
01:02:14course the
01:02:15decision might yet be taken out of jorge martin's hands but a review will now take place to determine
01:02:19whether he can continue in this weekend well having pushed himself right through the pain barrier for
01:02:26those 12 laps in free practice one i'd like to see anybody tell him that's his weekend over i would
01:02:31like to see anybody be brave enough uh to front martin up right now and say well i don't think
01:02:36you're
01:02:36going to be fit enough for this afternoon this is probably as good as what he could have hoped for
01:02:40really i mean yeah of course you very seldom see jorge martin uh down in 20th place in a session
01:02:47there
01:02:47was then uh angel chartre just feeding back what he thinks what he has observed back to a key uh
01:02:55aprilia figures of course his responsibility he's gonna have to practice start he's gonna go back
01:02:59out he is putting the helmet back on of course with that means he's got to get the gloves back
01:03:02on too
01:03:02as jorge martin who's uh just going through the normal ritual the normal procedure but yeah it's
01:03:07dr angel chartre who just demonstrated here last year of course with the uh jose antonio roeida
01:03:12noah debt wheeler incident in moto three of just what an integral job he does in this grand prix paddock
01:03:18his responsibility is to ensure that the riders are all safe there is angel martin father to jorge
01:03:27those two father and son completely inseparable every time you see jorge martin in the paddock as you can
01:03:34see there his dad having to help him do the chin strap on the helmet and now this agonizing process
01:03:41this is going to be hurting like hell look at the grimace look at the wince from jorge inside that
01:03:46helmet there as he tries to squeeze that glove on i'm sure right now behind the scenes in their service
01:03:52truck here or in their service tent rather their service marquee there'll be alpine stars will be
01:03:58carrying out some adjustments certainly to that right glove potentially uh for martin reacting as
01:04:04they all do all as all equipment manufacturers do reacting to ever changing circumstances for their
01:04:10riders a slightly easier task to get the left glove on but shows how much he's up for the fight
01:04:17he's
01:04:17going out for the practice starts yeah he's not leaving any stone and turn he's he's trying his best
01:04:21as he can to treat this as a normal grand prix weekend as impossible as that is for us mere
01:04:27mortals
01:04:28to try and compute in our heads uh that's jorge martin's mindset right now i'm here to compete this
01:04:34is the malaysian grand prix there are points up for grabs and i need to do everything i can to
01:04:38give
01:04:38myself the best possible chance which includes going through the usual post fp1 practice start session
01:04:46and it'll be interesting to see uh with the forces going through the bikes as he uh performs a start
01:04:50just how uh jorge martin's arm responds to that yeah i mean if you're liking the sort of a hollywood
01:04:56movie character to jorge martin it'd be something like rocky balboa wouldn't it played of course by
01:05:01sylvester stallone the guy just never knows when he's beaten he is one of the the toughest characters
01:05:07i've come across in three decades working in the mana gp world championship they're gonna take more than a
01:05:13fracture at the top of it top of his right forearm he's in his right wrist you think that to
01:05:18keep him out
01:05:18this malaysian grand prix absolutely awesome just to watch him actually even be here yeah you almost
01:05:25feel like he deserves some points just for doing this in free practice one with the points are
01:05:29handed out tomorrow afternoon in the tiso sprint 12 for the winner of course on a saturday afternoon
01:05:34and 25 on offer uh for the winner on sunday afternoon and jorge martin needs every point he can get
01:05:41reminder he is 10 points behind mark marquez in the chase for the moto gp world championship four grand
01:05:49prix and four sprints remain 148 points still on the table for martin betseki and mark marquez to fight for
01:06:00marco betseki had a didn't see much of him did we in that session but it was a strong start
01:06:05at four
01:06:06bears at 159.386 remarkably betseki has never had a podium finish here in sapang and aprilia i mean
01:06:15they really have struggled previously down the years here in span they've never even got a top six
01:06:18at their best a seventh place finish you got the impression from speaking to marco betseki
01:06:24this weekend whatever happens he has to take points off mark marquez he cannot afford uh to be
01:06:32outscored once again by the reigning world champion otherwise his title hopes will be slipping away
01:06:3750 points already he is behind uh the spaniard as the fans who made the early journey out to the
01:06:45sabang international circuit about 50 kilometers away from the spectacular capital of kuala lumpur well
01:06:51they're getting a treat as the very fast and very loud mother gp prototypes get blasted away
01:06:58from the start line this is betseki it's one of the longer runs on the calendar from start line to
01:07:05first corner so they'll be uh troubling uh 300ks by the time they get to uh that first corner about
01:07:11270
01:07:12that marco betseki made his way down to uh before he had to break for the first corner yeah that's
01:07:18270
01:07:19kilometers an hour breaking on his own you you wait until there's about 20 other bikes swarming all
01:07:24around you fighting for every a millimeter of tarmac as even a practice start is going to be hurting
01:07:31for hoi martin i mean just hanging on here i mean you can't comprehend the acceleration forces that these
01:07:40guys are having to to contend with when you drop the clutch on a motor gp bike the horsepower the
01:07:46torque
01:07:46that fires them in the blink of an eye from a standing start to nigh on 300 kilometers now i
01:07:53mean
01:07:53if it was anybody else we'd all get normal people would be having the shoulders their arms ripped out
01:07:58the shock sockets such is the acceleration forces daniele ramagnoli watches on hoi martin's trusted crew chief
01:08:08he'll be working of course with peco bagnaya in 2027 and peco moves over to the marley factory for the
01:08:15start of the new 850 cc era
01:08:19that's too long having a bit of a an uncomfortable practice start there as the front end uh hopped up
01:08:25in the air fortunately the front mug guard stayed in place on that particular occasion after it made a
01:08:30bid for freedom earlier on to bring a temporary halt to the session they're getting a good look at his
01:08:35future factory ducati world superbike teammate frankie mumble those two will be locking horns
01:08:40in world superbikes next year that was some session wasn't it for mark marquez just quietly going about
01:08:47his business setting the fastest time very very early on when the rubber was at its freshest when
01:08:53the grip was there for him around what is traditionally a very low grip supang international circuit very
01:08:58abrasive as well i think there was supposed to be a resurface for uh 2026 which uh was uh cancelled
01:09:05or
01:09:05delayed it was the reason why actually michelin rather unusually deviated from their normal uh
01:09:11tire allocation normally when we come back to circuits when there's been no changing track
01:09:16condition no changing track surface uh we just get in the allocation two front tires here this weekend
01:09:21is soft and medium and two rear tires and while michelin did design a new medium rear tire for the
01:09:28potential reef service that never happened but they decided uh well we'll stick in the allocation
01:09:33anyway as a big black line gets left by marco betsecki on his second practice star let's go down to
01:09:40jack once again yeah and once again it's positive news on jorge martin does seem as though the green light
01:09:46has been given for jorge martin to continue for the remainder of the weekend we heard from paulo
01:09:53benora this morning about conserving energy in time for practice this afternoon he also said that
01:10:00alongside some anti-inflammatories some strapping and some oral painkillers he hadn't actually had a
01:10:06painkilling injection that looks as though that will be the plan head of practice this afternoon so
01:10:12great news for the 89 it looks as though the green light has been given for jorge martin to continue
01:10:18on
01:10:19yeah brilliant thanks very much jack thanks for that uh breaking news then here in malaysia after the
01:10:26post free practice one review i'm sure there'll be additional checks but at the moment the signs
01:10:31are all incredibly positive aren't they uh for martin looks like the green light then has been given
01:10:36for him certainly to take part in this afternoon's a 60-minute practice session which as
01:10:41always the top 10 riders the top 10 fastest times at the end of practice we'll see those 10 riders
01:10:48automatically go through to tomorrow morning's q2 at 11 15 am local time tomorrow the rest and well
01:10:56they'll have to fight it out in q1 the top two in q1 as always that'll be out on the
01:11:00way at 10 50 a.m
01:11:01local time tomorrow morning and we'll then be in a fight for position good morning that for ktm for all
01:11:09of
01:11:09the uh talk of orje martin and of course mark marquez who led the session ktm's third fourth and fifth
01:11:15in
01:11:16that fp1 session acosta with that identical time as we mentioned to mark abetecki and they have
01:11:20bastinini who himself is a former malaysian grand prix winner the beats successful here uh in the sunday
01:11:27grand prix in 2023 he was fourth on a 159 68 day and brett binder who uh we don't always
01:11:33see the best from
01:11:33on fridays he was fifth on a 159.7 all within a second of mark marquette we've seen this year
01:11:40when the ktm does tend to uh show its spurs in low grip conditions at low grip tracks it sort
01:11:47of
01:11:47levels out the playing field when the grip's not there everyone is kind of in the same boat they're
01:11:52all chasing grip which has been a bit of a bugbear for ktm over the last 18 months or so
01:11:57they made big
01:11:58big strides this year in sort of tire durability rear tire endurance and particularly we saw a costa
01:12:04fade out of contention very early on in grand prix or very late on i should say and with deteriorating
01:12:10grip but they did seem to get a bit more tire life uh this year but yeah we do know
01:12:16one of the main
01:12:17characteristics of this sapaga international circuit is because it is so hot and humid because the surface
01:12:23is rather abrasive because there are a lot of fast sections which really do put a lot of load put
01:12:29a
01:12:29lot of stress put a lot of temperature into the rear tire in particular and yeah grip is at a
01:12:34premium
01:12:35around this malaysian grand prix venue with a tight grip at the moment on the world championship lead
01:12:41is mark marquez who despite his uh reasonably modest record and i say that by his standards not by
01:12:50anyone else's uh mark marquez just the two victories around the supang circuit looks like at the moment
01:12:55he is certainly in the mood to add a third of course so much can happen between now and sunday
01:13:01afternoon be it through what happens on track be it what happens with the weather uh so uh no one's
01:13:07giving mark marquez the sprint gold medal and 37 points for a double victory this weekend at this
01:13:12early stage but there's no question that the world champion could not have wished for a better start
01:13:17yeah his sprint win last time out in australia sees him now lead the field in terms of podium count
01:13:23so
01:13:23far this year uh mark leading on uh 18 six in grand prix all of those victories 12 sprint podiums
01:13:30he was tied with martin and bears on 17 the camp of martin nine grand prix podiums eight in the
01:13:36sprint
01:13:3617 for best six 11 in the grand prix six in the sprint so now mark marquez not just leading
01:13:42the outright
01:13:43world championship but he's collected more podium finishes than anybody else so far in 2026
01:13:50a brilliant effort a fantastic effort so much credit has to go to uh jorge martin his desire
01:13:57his commitment his willpower to tough it out and keep himself in the fight for this year's mother gp
01:14:03world champs all of his backroom team as well his personal staff his father angel the
01:14:09medical team here who do so much work great work behind the scenes uh to get these rise in the
01:14:16best
01:14:16physical shape possible i'm sure there's another appointment coming with uh dr angel chartre very
01:14:21very quickly the lead mother gp medic just to make sure that everything is a-okay but they were
01:14:2912 very intense and 12 very hard and tough laps the whole hey martin but at the end of it
01:14:34he still can
01:14:35crack a smile in front of the main grandstand here in tofang those two magnificent instantly
01:14:43recognizable pagoda grandstands that hold almost 33 000 fans those fans that came here this morning
01:14:49already have been treated to some show by the world's best and the current world's best world
01:14:54championship leader and reigning champ mark marquez fastest in fp1 marco betseki second identical times
01:15:01with pedro costa who's classified third bashanini and vinder fourth and fifth on the good morning
01:15:05for ktm frankie morbidilli next up ahead of alex marquez last year's winner of course joan zarko
01:15:10eight from gian antonio and diogo marrera so a couple of hondas in the top ten a couple of
01:15:15yamaha's just outside it rins and miller bagnaya 13th ahead of the returning to amir fabio cuotoraro
01:15:2015th from vinales ralph fernandez whose weekend is over luca marini ayagura jorge martin
01:15:26heroically in the top 20 ahead of augusto fernandez and ike lacuona who's from mudguard flew off
01:15:33midway through that fp1 session so 15 laps completed in total for the reigning world champion
01:15:41soft front medium rear tire didn't entertain a change he's 58.912 coming very early on on that
01:15:47third lap lots of low to mid at 59s in that session as well but he's still doing high 159s
01:15:55on his last that 15th lap strong consistent pace how does marco betteki compare well he also did his
01:16:01best lap right at the start of the session but he was in the two minutes and 201s on his
01:16:06final run
01:16:07having also stuck for the same tires it looks like it's upper hand marquez doesn't it in terms of early
01:16:13race pace across from so many of the ktms had a good look early on at the hard rear tire
01:16:18across his
01:16:19best coming towards the back end of his second run he was also in those low 159s and the beast
01:16:24in
01:16:25fourth place anayat bastionini although as you can see that is in part down to going for brand new
01:16:30medium front and rear tires late in the session three ktms at the end of play inside the top five
01:16:37frankie morbidelli strong as well in sixth place what about our sector time the short run through
01:16:41sector one including those tight first two turns mark marquez leading macostra and morbidelli marquez
01:16:46retains his advantage in sector two with betteki close behind heartbreaking into turn nine halfway
01:16:51through sector three it's betteki that adds the advantage over marquez and morbidelli and in the
01:16:56fourth sector which takes you down the back straight and then out of the final corner
01:16:59marco marquez once again with a narrow edge
01:17:04well our three main world title contenders had pretty dramatic starts here today didn't they
01:17:10jorge martin heroic down in 20th place six days after breaking that right wrist
01:17:14and title contenders marco marquez and marco betteki first and second the current champ
