The Kerala Chief Minister visited the family of Jaibal Krishnan, a 55-year-old man who was killed on October 25 in Kochi after being struck by a speeding Mercedes allegedly driven by a minor. The incident triggered protests outside the police station by the victim's family, who alleged that investigating officers showed lapses and applied lighter charges to grant station bail to the minor accused. With the victim's residence falling under the Paravur constituency in Ernakulam, the Chief Minister met the victim's son and daughter to extend government support and assure them of justice as the investigation continues into the case.

00:08the victim of the accident case that involved a minor.
00:13This is what we are learning about right now.
00:15This was on October 25th.
00:1850-year-old was in fact killed by speeding Mercedes and the accused was,
00:24in fact, the particular boss who had come out was a minor.
00:27Now, V.D. Satishan has come out to visit the very family of Jaibala Krishnan.
00:33This is the Kochi case that we are speaking of at this given point
00:37and he has come out to meet the victim's family, the 55-year-old who was brutally killed in on
00:46October 25th
00:47by that speeding Mercedes which involved a minor in that very case as well.
00:52And that case has only been blowing up with several factors and facets coming to the limelight
00:58with more arrests taking place as well and complications with regards to who all are responsible
01:03behind the particular case snowballing into a situation where the minor was initially let off
01:09but then he again came under the radar of the probing agencies and authorities.
01:14So, yes, viewers, this is a very crucial case that we are seeing
01:17and a high-profile case as well at that.
01:20And now the Chief Minister himself, V.D. Satishan himself, has come out to meet the victim's family.
01:26That is, the family of the 55-year-old who was killed on October 25th in that case.
01:31Shibhimol, KG, joining me on the broadcast with more details on the same.
01:34Shibhimol, very good afternoon to you, firstly.
01:37While investigations still continue, several people arrested,
01:41speculations going on, probe continuing, but V.D. Satishan comes out to meet the victim's family.
01:46What more details are you learning?
01:50Well, you know, the Chief Minister visited the residents of the Balakrishnan
01:55met his family's daughter and his son.
01:57In fact, their residents, now they're staying at their family home
02:01but their residents actually come under Chief Minister's constituency, Paravur and Ernaklam also.
02:06So, this is CM visiting to confirm that, you know, the government stands with them
02:12because right from the beginning, the family has been raising allegations
02:16that there were lapses on the part of the investigative office
02:19because they were trying to protect this minor.
02:20The charges, you know, applied in the FAR were very simple charges
02:25that gave him a station bail, you know, within hours of this incident taking place.
02:29So, the family, in fact, sat on a protest outside the police station seeking justice.
02:34So, the government, the Home Minister right from the beginning said
02:37there were lapses, we have taken action and we stand strongly with the family.
02:41So, Chief Minister, by visiting the residents is passing a message that, you know,
02:45the government, whatever happens, whoever is at the opposite side
02:48will stand with the family.
02:50That's the assurance he went and gave them is what the family members have been telling.
02:54But, you know, it's not just in words but in actions that the family will need justice
02:58because whatever investigation, whatever happens in the next few days
03:04is what will decide whether justice is actually being told to the family
03:07because in the last one week, nothing has really gone in their favour.
03:11It's gone in favour of the accused in the case.
03:13Absolutely.
03:14And that's why it's been one of the most questionable probes
03:17that's been continuing into this very case.
03:19More details still unfolding
03:22and the family of the victims still awaiting justice as we speak.
03:26Thank you, Shibimol, for all of those details.
