00:00That's popular Tamil and Malayalam actress Lakshmi Menon seen blocking a car and arguing.
00:10Her name has now surfaced in a case of kidnapping and assault of an IT employee in Kochi.
00:14On August 27th, the Kerala High Court granted Lakshmi interim protection from arrest until
00:18September 17th, with the case to be heard again after the court's vacation.
00:22So what exactly happened?
00:23It all began on the night of August 24th.
00:25A 27-year-old IT professional was allegedly kidnapped after an argument in a bar on Kochi's
00:30Banerjee Road.
00:31According to the complaint, the accused stopped his car near the north bridge, dragged him out,
00:34forced him into another vehicle and assaulted him.
00:37He also claimed that Lakshmi was inside the car with the attackers.
00:40The visuals have since gone viral.
00:41Kochi Police Commissioner Putta Vimalagitya confirmed that Lakshmi is among the accused,
00:45though her name has not yet been added to the FIR.
00:48Three others, Mithun, Anish and Sonamal, have been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
00:52Lakshmi, however, has denied the allegations in a bail plea, claiming the IT employee and
00:56his friends were the aggressors, and that she and her friend were verbally and sexually
01:00harassed inside the bar.
01:02This isn't the first time.
01:03Back in 2020, she made headlines when rumours of her entry into Big Boss Tamil season 4 went
01:07viral.
01:08She denied it, but her comments triggered a wave of trolling to which she shot back,
01:11saying it was her right to have an opinion and choice.
01:14Born in 1996, Lakshmi Menon built her career with a claim for films like Sundara Pandyan,
01:18Kumki, Jigarathanda and Vedala.
01:21But today, she's making headlines for very different reasons, caught in the middle of
01:24a high-profile criminal case that's now under the High Court's watch.
