00:07You know that idea that a lot of people assume that girls should be in the kitchen and so we
00:12decided well if we're gonna skate as a group we'll just name ourselves Skate Kitchen because
00:16that way if we're in the kitchen we're allowed to do it. I do know other female skateboarders
00:22but this was the next level I'm just happy to be a part of it. Skate Kitchen I would say
00:27is just
00:28for a group of friends who like to skate. I would say Dee Dee's like the jokester. Nina's like the
00:33funny one.
00:34And also the security guard. She's a security guard.
00:38And Johnny's like the artistic one.
00:41Rochelle is very gung-ho about everything. She puts her 100% into everything she does like
00:49like overbearingly charismatic. Jules is like the happy. She likes to dance.
00:56Jaden is the nice is the super super nice one that likes like ever rarely says
01:02no. We'd be like bro come on. He's super optimistic. Yeah. And he's very present. Yes. And very focused.
01:09He likes to wrangle us. Yeah. He's like our shepherd. When you follow them on Instagram you feel like
01:15you actually know them and like you're actually friends with them and because
01:18that's how I felt before I met them. This is the base of something of a revolution of
01:22humanity that's gonna happen. They also going to encourage a lot of other young
01:26girls to pick up skateboarding as well.
01:28I think skating with friends other girls helps you to like get a sense of community
01:34and not feel as intimidated by being just the only girl in the park. And I think when
01:38people see that instead of showing us a competing against each other they see us
01:41like working together and getting there for each other. Skate Kitchen is inspired by our
01:46lives, our friendship dynamic as a group, and our love for skateboarding.
01:52It's scary to go in the park at all regardless if you don't really know how to skate. But
01:56it can be even more scary when you're the only one of your gender in a park.
02:00Boys will come up to me and be like do you know how to use that? You want me to
02:04teach you how to use that?
02:05Once I found a group of really dope girls to skate with of course I'm gonna want to keep chilling
02:09with them.
02:10Like outside the skate park too. Just like if you need somebody to turn to somebody that understands your problem.
02:16Somebody that doesn't discriminate against you because you're a woman. Somebody that empathizes with you.
02:22We're always on different ways. So when we are on the right one together then it's great.
02:26But then sometimes it's not. And that's just how friendships work.
02:29I met Rochelle off of YouTube. I went to high school with Didi and Ajani.
02:36Nino actually brought me a board one day. She was like now you can't say you can't skate.
02:42Skateboarding is just fun. It just feels good. Like it just feels liberating and freeing.
02:47It tests yourself. And then you like have to like pass that test to move on to the next one.
02:53That's what each trick is. It's kind of like a test. And once you get it, you feel like you
02:58got a hundred on your test.
02:59You're like yeah! That's what it feels like. This was a platform that we really needed.
03:05To expand our ideas and our thinking of how skateboarding should be.
03:12Skate Kitchen is us as a group but it's also open to being more than that.
03:17We want it to be open to anybody that wants to be in the kitchen.
03:21We want it to be as big as the world can be basically.
03:25Girls all over the place are starting to skateboard. We get messages from girls in Europe, in Asia, in Russia.
03:32And things are really changing for the better and it's amazing. It's amazing.
03:38Hopefully we just get to keep on skating as a friend group and traveling more places and just staying friends.
03:44Honestly is what I hope for.
03:46We want to get together.
03:46We hope you have some recent videos on the life of the world.
03:47Of course you can see them.
03:47I think so.
03:47So you have the best.
