Hand-painted cookies make Sogi's Honey Bake Shop stand out from the crowd.
Transcript
00:35Every cookie is actually hand-painted by me.
00:38It's very much a labor of love and very time-intensive, but it's really, really fun to spend a lot
00:44of time into something that brings someone else a lot of joy, and then they get to eat it.
00:49I think art is pretty arbitrary, so I think it's the perfect way of getting art into the world and
00:53actually serving a purpose.
01:13The bulk of the work I do is often for baby showers and weddings, so it's a lot of big
01:18life events, which is really fun and I feel really, always feel really special to be included in such a
01:23momentous time in someone's life.
01:29I also really like sculpting things out of cookies, so some of my most favorite projects I've been where I'm
01:35recreating something that looks like something else.
01:37I made little mini donuts here, which is so unnecessary, but I really, really love them.
01:57I fell in love with it and it was kind of like this beautiful union between my two favorite things
02:01with pastry and painting.
02:17Back in middle school, I decided that if I ever had a bake shop or a bakery of my own,
02:22I decided I would name it Something Something Honey Bake Shop and I thought it was the cutest name and
02:28it was perfect.
02:29That's been now 20 years on my mind.
02:32And then I finally looked it up when I launched my business and Honey Baby Shop's actually taken.
02:37So I slapped my childhood nickname in front of it.
02:40We're not a brick and mortar yet.
