00:00All these stories, all these stories point to one simple truth. Funding, quality
00:04education for public students is the most important investment a community can
00:10make. Today we're announcing, today we're giving a new chance to kids in 20 more
00:21schools across our city. Each school will receive a hundred thousand dollars over
00:31the next three years with budgeting and staffing guidance provided by CPS and
00:41ingenuity. While I'm frustrated and disappointed in the governor's inaction,
00:54that will not stop me from continuing to do all I can to support Chicago's most
01:01valuable resource, its children. I'm proud to announce that I am donating one
01:08million dollars to CPS, to CPS, to support arts and enrichment programming.
01:18Social activism as a whole, I just grew up with, you know, strong figures in my
01:24family, the women in my family, you know, my great-grandmother Marshall King, my
01:28grandmother volunteered herself and all her kids to work for Harold Washington's
01:33campaign. I was gonna tell, I was gonna tell the Chicago public school system not
01:36to take out a loan from Chase Bank when they know that our schools are planning
01:40on failing in our district. I want to be, I want to be more involved outside of
01:44just my community in Chicago. I want to travel overseas and help out people all
01:48over the world. Try and raise somebody up, you know. You know people always talk
01:53about being the change you want to see. Like, if you can today while you're outside, you
02:02know, meet somebody and try and help them. You don't have any respect for life if
02:06you don't have anything going on, you know. Or respect for anyone else's life if
02:10you don't have anything going on. But then again, I am also just a rapper from Chicago.
02:16I don't really have all the answers.
