00:09Hey guys, I am here at the Lush factory in Toronto.
00:11I'm going to learn a little bit about their products today.
00:14Lush is a cruelty-free brand.
00:16Every ingredient from where it's sourced
00:18to the products that are made in the factory
00:20are never tested on animals.
00:22Lush tries really hard to use certified organic
00:25and fresh ingredients wherever possible.
00:28Let's get started.
00:30I got to sit down and talk with assistant manager Vanessa
00:32about Lush's natural ingredients,
00:34specifically those in the Angels and Bare Skin Cleanser
00:36which I'll be making today.
00:37My entry way into the brand was the first product I ever tried.
00:41It was the Angels and Bare Skin Cleanser.
00:43The ingredients were actually based on a medieval recipe
00:46that Lush found.
00:47Yeah, so it was like an old, like a chapbook
00:50that had different facial cleansers that you could create.
00:52And this one was like a ground almonds and lavender facial cleanser.
00:56There's these amazing lavender buds all throughout the product.
00:59which will release lavender essential oil.
01:03Plus there is lavender essential oil in here.
01:05Yes.
01:06And then we have kaolin clay
01:07which is a really nice deep cleansing clay.
01:09Yeah, I think that's why I like it so much.
01:11Clay is a good way to really cleanse your skin without drying it out.
01:14It is.
01:15Like soapy cleansers just make my skin feel super tight
01:17and it's not a great feeling.
01:19It's been amazing being able to touch all the ingredients
01:21and learn about them.
01:22So thank you for showing us the ropes.
01:25Next, I put on my apron and headed into the factory
01:27to learn how they compound angels on bare skin.
01:30And let me tell you, the factory smells so good.
01:34I'm here with my pal Violetta, who's a compounder at Lush
01:37who's going to teach me how to make the cleanser from start to finish.

01:42What is that?
01:43It's a glycerin.
01:48We will pour the water.
01:52The next ingredient, fragrance.
01:57The next ingredient is the almond ground.
02:01And then the kaolin clay.
02:23We're done mixing.
02:25We're going to roll it outside to do the logs and the toppings,
02:29the lavender toppings.
02:42I can give this to you and you can add the toppings.
02:45Let's cook all this nice lemon there.

02:53And spray it out there.
