00:04tips and tricks on how to make second day hair look super chic and super cool.
00:09We're going to do a look that was inspired by a look I did on Elizabeth Olsen.
00:13It's a half-up look, which is so on trend right now, and it's not going away any time
00:18soon.
00:19I want to get a little more hold and volume in here, so I'm going to start with a dry
00:23shampoo.
00:24I don't go a day without dry shampoo.
00:26You know, a big trick with dry shampoo is making sure you hold that bottle a good 10
00:31to 12 inches away.
00:32Powder needs just that little, like, one, maybe even half a second of time to dry, going from
00:39the can into the hair.
00:41If you want to really get like a nice clean surface, spray it on, massage it so you can
00:47break up the oils and sebum and product buildup, and then brush it out.
00:51However, I'm using it as a volumizer as well, so I want those starches and powders to
00:56stay in there and just build on top of each other, and it's just going to be a ton of
00:59texture, especially with your dark hair.
01:02You know, sometimes in a photo, your highlights are great, but it can look almost like a helmet.
01:07You can't see texture sometimes, so you really have to overdo it.
01:11The hair that's going into the bun, or the hun as we call it, I'm giving it a really, really
01:18tight twist, because then it just helps for the bun to literally coil around itself.
01:24And again, we don't want it too, too perfect, and I love the ends coming out even.
01:29You can never use an odd number of bobby pins.
01:33It's always an even number, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, however many, just not an odd number.
01:39I'm actually using a double barrel iron, which is going to take your straight bits and give
01:43them a little bit of wave, and your curly bits and give them a little, it's going to loosen
01:48into a wave.
01:49And I literally wrap it into a figure eight.
01:52A really important part is just the small details.
01:56We want it to look effortless in second day, but we still want it to look done, so I can't
02:02go without my natural bristle toothbrush with extra hold hair spray.
02:07And this is to pick up any little hairs.
02:13This way I can really direct the hairspray.
02:15I would never want to spray hairspray all here.
02:17I love bangs that move, I love when women brush their bangs out of their eye.
02:24I mean, think about the body language, you're literally opening yourself up to let people
02:30see you or to see other people.
02:33Girls with bangs will tell you, especially in summer with the humidity, this will get
02:38so greasy.
02:39You can also do the same trick with a natural bristle toothbrush and dry shampoo.
02:47No one will ever believe you have second day hair, because it's so shiny and healthy looking,
02:53and you're done.
