00:00I have no racial preference.
00:02I am so open and willing to go around,
00:06try anything, anyone.
00:07Wait, that sounded bad.
00:08I have never dated a white guy.
00:11I have never dated anyone who's not black or Latino.
00:15I really don't think white men are attracted to me.
00:17Hi, my name is Ashley,
00:18and I'm currently in a relationship with an Indian man.
00:21I'm Shayna Capers, and I am very single.
00:24I'm Abby, and I am newly single.
00:26Hey, what's up?
00:27My name is Nana Adjavine, and I am super duper single.
00:31So, interracial dating is very interesting.
00:33I definitely don't have a racial preference when dating.
00:36It just so happens that all of my serious relationships
00:39have been with people who have not been black.
00:42I don't think that I have a racial preference in a relationship.
00:45If you ask my friends, they'll probably tell you
00:47that I'm really into white guys.
00:49I've lived all over the world,
00:50so I feel like to limit myself to one ethnicity or one race
00:55is kind of really boxing myself,
00:56and I don't know what I'm missing out there.
00:58He could be in Russia.
00:58He could be in Italy.
00:59My previous boyfriend was Iranian.
01:02My other boyfriend was Greek.
01:04I tend to date black Afro-Caribbean men.
01:09So currently, I am open to dating white men.
01:13Um, I don't know if I see myself marrying a white man.
01:17So my family never cared about who I was dating,
01:20whether he was black or white or Indian.
01:23They just want me to be happy.
01:25I was dating somebody who was Iranian.
01:26Um, I was dating him for about a year.
01:29Um, and it was going well,
01:31but eventually he dumped me because his parents did not approve
01:35of him dating somebody outside of his race.
01:38I think my parents used to have a preference for me.
01:40They were like, ah, now you have to marry Ghanaian.
01:42You have to marry Africa.
01:43And I'm like, chill, mom.
01:45Like, you can't, you can't tell me who I want to be with.
01:48Some people would consider my mom and my dad,
01:50um, Puerto Rican and black, interracial dating.
01:52Um, others do not.
01:54Yeah, when I think about who I want to be with,
01:57um, I'm thinking about someone who has kind of the same level of ambition as me.
02:04I care about, you know, ambition if they're just a good person.
02:09Looks. This is so bad, but like, I feel like I have to be, like, attracted to you.
02:14You know what I mean?
02:15Maybe someone who's, you know, the same income bracket as me.
02:18Financial stability.
02:20Uh, value of a dollar.
02:21I don't really judge people by, like, their school they went to
02:24or the amount of money they make.
02:25I know my parents definitely would want someone who's well-educated and has a good job.
02:29The three things I would say my parents really care about
02:32when I'm looking at, like, my dating preferences would be
02:35God-fearing, number one, financial stability, number two, and education.
02:41Like, that's super, super important, I feel like, especially for immigrant parents.
02:45It's hard to find those commonalities with someone who
02:49doesn't have a college education because that's such a huge part of your development.
02:54Um, or at least it was a huge part of my development.
02:57I do feel like, as an educated black woman, my options are extremely limited.
03:01Especially someone who does have their master's degree.
03:04Um, most of the men in my master's program were gay.
03:07It's more about, it sounds cliche, but it's more about the person.
03:10So those other things are kind of just superficial to me.
03:12I don't know how people date in this digital social media age.
03:16I don't use apps.
03:18No one slides in my DMs.
03:20I don't know if I'll ever find a man, to be honest.
