00:00Asian parents be like, put these extra napkins and condiments in your purse for later.
00:05Yes.
00:06Hey guys, I'm Michelle.
00:08I'm Rachel.
00:08Hi, I'm Magel.
00:09And I'm Natasha.
00:10Hi, I'm Vanessa.
00:11And I'm Maria.
00:12And we asked our followers to share their funniest assumptions about Asians.
00:15And today we're going to react to them.
00:17Let's get started.
00:18Let's go!
00:19Alright, first up, all Asian households are shoes-off households.
00:25Yes, correct.
00:26I mean, what are you, an animal?
00:28Like, you're walking in the street.
00:29I mean, I'm from Manhattan, so there's subways, dirty things.
00:33Why would you want to bring outside dirt inside your home?
00:38It makes no sense.
00:39It doesn't make any sense.
00:40Get some socks, get some slippers.
00:42My grandma, like, chases me with a pair of Hello Kitty slippers.
00:45I think what's always shocked me also is when you see pictures of people and they're sitting in their home
00:49with their shoes on their bed.
00:50And that's what's like, first off, it got in your house and then it's on your bed.
00:54My bed is super sacred.
00:56No feet or shoes allowed in it, for sure.
01:00All Asians had a bull cut at some point in their life.
01:02I think I was too young to have an opinion about it.
01:05But when I look back at the photos, it's tragic.
01:07And now when I look back at my pictures, I'm like, why did they do that?
01:11I had a bull cut when I was, like, five and it was awesome.
01:15I loved having it.
01:16I felt like it was just, like, always, like, my hair was out of my way.
01:20My parents were very, like, who cares what your hair looks like right now?
01:23You're a kid.
01:24So my favorite response that I got is that all Asians went to Kumon.
01:30What is that?
01:31Can't say it was a fun time.
01:32It's this math.
01:33I mean, it's a math and English class, but, like, you get these little packets and you have to do
01:38them.
01:38And it basically, like, tries to make you faster at doing math and, like, reading comprehension and things like that.
01:44No, I really was driven by the reward system.
01:46That's the only way I got through those packets.
01:49Yes.
01:49What was your reward system?
01:51The $2 bills.
01:52Yeah, I mean, I don't think all Asians are good at math because I'm not and I've never been to
01:57Kumon.
01:58Maybe I'm because I'm Canadian.
01:59My brother just never went.
02:01My parents were like, he's too smart for it, but, like, Michelle needs some help.
02:04Asian parents be like, put these extra napkins and condiments in your purse for later.
02:09Yes.
02:11Napkins, sports, straws.
02:13A random pile of napkins in my mom's purse and probably some plastic silverware as well.
02:18My dad, he just loved ketchup from McDonald's.
02:22He would get these chicken nuggets from McDonald's.
02:24So we had, like, a year's worth of ketchup.
02:27She always had Taco Bell sauce packets in her purse.
02:31It was free.
02:32It was free to them.
02:33That was, like, the biggest thing.
02:34They were like, oh my god, all this free stuff.
02:36Now that I'm, like, we're living on our own, that I do kind of save things.
02:42Yep.
02:43Making mama proud.
02:44Okay, next one.
02:45Asians always tap their fruit at the grocery store.
02:50What is the magical sound that you're supposed to hear?
02:53Yeah, I'm like, what are you listening for?
02:54I think they smell them.
02:56My dad always lectures me in the grocery store about, like, which fruits to buy.
03:00Because he's always like, you have to smell them.
03:02But, like, my dad is the best at finding ripe fruits.
03:05Every time we eat them, I'm always like, this is the best mango I've ever had.
03:09The next one is a little more serious.
03:12This one says, all Asians are the same.
03:15Oof.
03:16Sad.
03:17No, no.
03:17First of all, Asia is huge.
03:19It's like saying, like, all of Africa is the same.
03:21Like, no, there's hundreds of different countries.
03:23So when people are like, oh, all Asians are the same.
03:25It's really dismissive.
03:26The fact that also, like.
03:27It's very dismissive.
03:28Yeah.
03:28That we're also, like, part of basically every diaspora.
03:31Like, there are Asian Americans in Latin America.
03:33There are Asian Americans in North America.
03:34In Cuba.
03:34Yeah, like, all over.
03:36All over the place.
03:37But I feel now that more than ever before, we're having slowly more representation in politics
03:42and media and the stories that we tell.
03:44Yeah.
03:45Okay, so I think that's everything.
03:47We answered a lot of questions that people submitted.
03:50Thank you for listening.
03:51Bye.
03:52Catch you next time.
03:54See ya.
