The government has agreed to equip the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) with the necessary armaments, with procurement expected to begin before the end of the year, says Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

He said the move can no longer be delayed due to the high-risk nature of AKPS operations, adding that further details will be announced soon.
