00:00If you've been waiting for The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself, Season 2, I have heartbreaking
00:05news Netflix has officially cancelled the show, and Nathan's story will never be finished.
00:10Welcome back to the channel. Today, we're talking about The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself,
00:15Season 2 release date and everything you need to know. If you loved this dark fantasy series,
00:20stay until the end, because I'll explain why Netflix cancelled it, what Season 2 could have
00:25covered, and whether there is any chance of a revival. Unfortunately, there is no The Bastard
00:30Son and the Devil Himself, Season 2 release date, because Netflix cancelled the British fantasy drama
00:36in December 2022. The decision came just over a month after the eight-episode first season premiered
00:42on the 28th of October 2022. Creator Joe Barton confirmed the cancellation on social media,
00:48saying he was proud of the series, but sorry that the story could not be finished. Netflix also
00:53confirmed that the show would not return for a second season. The cancellation surprised many
00:58fans because the series received strong critical praise and had a loyal global fan base. It was
01:04also based on Sally Green's popular Half-Bad trilogy, which gave the show plenty of material for future
01:09seasons. However, reports suggest the main issue was low initial viewership. Although the show appeared
01:15in Netflix's top 10 inches more than 70 countries, it reportedly did not maintain strong enough long-term
01:21viewing numbers to justify a renewal. Netflix often makes renewal decisions based on total watch time
01:27and long-term audience retention, not just early popularity. So, even though critics loved it,
01:33Netflix decided not to move forward with Season 2. The series was created by Joe Barton and adapted
01:38from Sally Green's Half-Bad novels, Half-Bad, Half-Wild, and Half-Lost. Because the show was cancelled,
01:45the remaining story of Nathan Byrne was left unadapted. If Season 2 had happened, it likely
01:51would have followed Nathan after the intense events of the Season 1 finale. In the second book,
01:56Half-Wild, Nathan is hunted from every side while discovering more about his own magical gift.
02:02He also searches for Gabriel and the Fairborn Knife, while dangerous enemies remain close behind him.
02:07But the Netflix series was not a direct page-to-screen adaptation. Joe Barton described it as a
02:12spiritual adaptation, meaning he made major changes to the books, especially by giving Annalise a much
02:18bigger role alongside Nathan and Gabriel. If the show had been renewed, Jay Lycurgo would almost
02:24certainly have returned as Nathan Byrne. Nadia Parks would likely have returned as Annalise O'Brien
02:29and Emelian Wieckmans as Gabriel. Other possible returning cast members could have included
02:34Isabel Jesper Jones as Jessica Byrne, David Gaiassi as Marcus Edge, and Rosine Murphy as Mercury.
02:41Since Season 1 ended with major characters in danger, flashbacks or surprise returns could
02:46also have been possible. As of now, there is no sign that Netflix will revive the series.
02:52The cancellation was confirmed by both Netflix and the show's creator, and no other platform
02:57has announced plans to save it. Fans can still watch Season 1 on Netflix, but unless Netflix
03:03changes its decision or another streamer picks up the rights, Nathan, Gabriel, and Annalise's
03:08journey ends with Season 1. The bastard son and the devil himself had the reviews, the source material,
03:14and a passionate fan base, but it did not get the viewership Netflix needed. That is why there will
03:19be no Season 2, no trailer, and no official release date. If you want more Netflix cancellation
