00:00Morbius 2 is not coming back the way fans expected and Sony's latest update may surprise you.
00:05Hey movie lovers, welcome back to the channel.
00:07Today, we are talking about Morbius 2, its release date, cast, story possibilities, and everything you need to know.
00:15If you enjoy Marvel and superhero updates, make sure you stay till the end.
00:19So, is Morbius 2 officially happening?
00:22Right now, Sony Pictures has not confirmed a direct sequel to the 2022 Morbius film.
00:28The first movie earned around $73 million domestically against a $75 million production budget, and it received mostly negative reviews.
00:37Because of that weak performance, a direct continuation of Jared Leto's version of Michael Morbius looks very unlikely.
00:44However, there is still Morbius-related news.
00:47Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman has said that Sony plans to revisit characters from its Spider-Man villain universe, including
00:54Morbius, through a fresh reboot with new people involved.
00:58That means fans may see Morbius again someday, but probably not as a direct Morbius 2 starring the original cast.
01:04Now, let's talk about the release date.
01:06Since no sequel has been greenlit, there is no official Morbius 2 release date.
01:11Reports also suggest Sony's original Spider-Man universe effectively ended after Kraven the Hunter, while the studio shifted attention toward
01:19new Spider-Man projects and a possible reboot.
01:21So, any date you see online is only speculation.
01:25But what if a new Morbius project happens?
01:28Jared Leto could return as Dr. Michael Morbius, though nothing is confirmed.
01:32Adria Arjona's Martine Bancroft is another strong possibility, because the first film ended with her opening her eyes after being
01:39bitten by Morbius.
01:40That moment strongly hinted that Martine may have become a vampire, too.
01:45Tyrese Gibson's Simon Stroud and Al Madrigal's Alberto Rodriguez could also return if the story continues.
01:51Sadly, Matt Smith's Milo and Jared Harris' doctor, Nicholas, are unlikely to come back because both characters died in the
01:58first film.
01:59The biggest clue for a sequel came from the post-credits scene.
02:03Michael Keaton's vulture met Morbius and suggested that a bunch of us guys should team up.
02:07Many fans believed this was teasing the Sinister Six.
02:11A future movie could bring Morbius, Venom, Kraven, Vulture, and other villains together, but Sony has not announced that project
02:18either.
02:19The ending of Morbius left two major threads open.
02:22Martine's transformation and the possible formation of a villain team.
02:25If Sony ever makes a new Morbius film, these storylines could be the perfect starting point.
02:31Still, with Sony focusing on a reboot rather than continuing the old universe, a direct sequel seems far away.
02:37And what about a trailer?
02:39There is no Morbius 2 trailer because the movie has not been confirmed and production has not started.
02:45Any Morbius 2 trailer videos online are fan-made edits, not official footage.
02:50So, the final answer is simple.
02:52Morbius 2 is not officially in development, and there is no confirmed release date.
02:57But Morbius himself may return in a future reboot under a new cast and creative team.
