00:00The daunting task, right?
00:01When you look at it, listen, has Tampa Bay won four in a row?
00:04Yeah, sure, right?
00:05But when you look at it, can we win four in a row against the hottest team in baseball,
00:08maybe the best team in baseball?
00:10Yeah, probably not.
00:10So here's how I would sell it, Craig, right?
00:13You know, the Red Sox, you know, comparing it to the Red Sox, it was, you know,
00:16don't let us win the one.
00:18Then we have Schilling, and then we got Pedro, right?
00:20So they did a good job of, like, one game at a time.
00:24It's a cliche.
00:24We hear everybody say it, but they did a good job.
00:27So let me be Kevin Cash here for a minute, right?
00:30Am I going to sell my guys?
00:32Now, listen, we're going to win four in a row, guys, so don't give up hope, right?
00:36No.
00:36I'm not going to try and sell that, right?
00:38What I am going to sell them is, listen, guys, we don't want to get, you know, swept, right?
00:43Are we going to win the World?
00:44I would tell the guys, are we going to win the World Series?
00:46No, we're not going to win the World Series, right?
00:48That's done.
00:49But we don't want to get swept.
00:50That's embarrassing.
00:51I would label every word you could come up with on how bad it would be to get swept.
00:58So forget about games five, six, and seven, right?
01:00Let's win this one.
01:02Now they win this one because they don't want to get swept.
01:04Then you tell them, listen, we don't want these guys celebrating on our ballpark, right?
01:09Come on.
01:10How embarrassing is that?
01:11Let's win tonight.
01:12We're not going to win two in Milwaukee.
01:13I know that.
01:14But you know what?
01:15Let's let them celebrate on their own ballpark.
01:18We don't want to have the embarrassment of celebrating in our ballpark.
01:20Then you win game five.
01:21Then you get to game six.
01:23And then you start thinking, all right, then you bring the Red Sox Stankies into the equation
01:27a little bit more.
01:28And they're going to probably have one of their better pitchers pitching.
01:31And then they start driving, you know, buying into the dream of, hey, why can't we do it?
01:35It's been done before.
01:36And then you get to a game seven and anything can happen in game seven.
01:39So that's, I think that is sellable.
01:43That is really to me like one game of the picture, one goal.
01:47It's not the goal to win it tonight.
01:49The goal is just don't suffer the embarrassment of getting swept.
01:52And maybe you could sell it that way.
01:54What do you think?
01:54Yeah, look, we should send you in there, Scott, in the Rays clubhouse here tonight in St. Petersburg.
02:00Yeah, look, I get it.
02:02And look, all those things are fair, as I said.
02:05But again, you know, the reason why I just think things are different is because I just don't see
02:11anybody beating the Brewers in Milwaukee.
02:13But yes, Scott, Tampa Bay can win their games at home.
02:16Why not?
02:16Like, I don't see why they can't win.
02:20But I don't know how you can take them after seeing last night's game.
02:25Like, I just, you know, it was the same conversation I was trying to have with Joe Ranieri yesterday,
02:30which was a similar thing with the Miami Heat yesterday, which was, you know, telling you,
02:36and Joe didn't, he took the heat, I think, like during the game or something like that.
02:40But the point that I was trying to make with the Heat, and I would use it with the World
02:43Series, too,
02:44is, Scott, you could go ahead and you could take Tampa Bay tonight.
02:47But don't say you got a bad beat and you lost when you lose, if you lose.
02:51Because you should know going into this thing that Milwaukee's up 3-0, they've dominated this,
02:56they've dominated, and then you lose, you're going to complain?
02:58It was like taking the Heat last night, minus eight and a half.
03:00You could go ahead and take them, but when you lose, why would you be surprised?
03:05Because they've looked awful all season long.
03:07So I think it's a little similar here in terms of betting.
03:10But as far as the teams are concerned, the Rays, best home team in the American League,
03:16best home team got smashed yesterday.
03:18So to your point, Scott, sure, they can win tonight.
03:22And yeah, why not win the next game after that?
03:25But then it's over when it goes to Milwaukee.
03:27That would be when the series, you can't, there's no scenario where you can throw at me
03:32and say, well, let's bring up the Cowboy up Red Sox of 2004.
03:37No, no, no.
03:38At that point, it's time for Milwaukee to close it out.
03:42But the best thing, Craig, they got going for them tonight, Tampa Bay,
03:46is it's the classic opposite pick, right?
03:49I talked to so many people today, whether it's the podcast I did, this, that, what have you.
03:53Nobody, nobody, but nobody has given Tampa Bay any shot, let alone to win the World Series tonight.
04:00So it is the classic.
04:02And even the pitching matchup, you know, Griffin Jacks is going for Tampa Bay.
04:07The dude was 8-10, 3.53 ERA, which, you know, on the surface is not that bad.
04:12What's wrong with that, Scott?
04:13Well, the team that he's pitching for won damn near 100 games, 98 games.
04:17They were 34 games over .500, and you as a pitcher were under .500.
04:24That's not easy to do when you're pitching for such a great team.
04:27So he hasn't pitched in 12 days, gave up three runs in four innings to light hitting Cleveland his last
04:32time out.
04:33I mean, it really does just all stack up against Tampa Bay, but maybe that's what they need.
04:40Maybe Milwaukee has a little bit of a letdown.
04:42And like I said, it's the classic opposite pick, and nine times out of ten, I'd rather be on the
04:46side of Vegas than the public.
04:48Yeah, no, I think so.
04:50And look, I want Tampa Bay to win.
04:52That's what I'm hoping for.
04:53I'm right there with you.
04:54I mean, the Brewers basically, nothing against Dustin May, but Dustin May is not the guy that you pitch to
04:59close it out.
04:59Dustin May is the guy that you pitch when you're up 3-0, and you're like, we can afford to
05:03pitch Dustin May.
05:04I mean, they brought Brandon Woodruff in to pitch last night, the final inning, too.
05:07Woodruff told the media yesterday that he was going to pitch today, that he was going to open up today
05:12after winning 3-0.
05:15Yeah, that just shows you when you're up 3-0 and you don't use Uribe and McGill and Ashby, you
05:21can do whatever you want.
