00:00Okay, so is this the matchup for the division?
00:03It's a four-game series, as I talked about.
00:05The Yankees have their shot at the Rays.
00:07I gotta tell you, Tom, this is it.
00:09They have got to at least split this series
00:12to stay involved in the race,
00:14and I don't know that they can.
00:16I mean, you look at the matchups here,
00:19and yes, Garrett Cole is still great,
00:21but beyond that, I heavily favor Tampa Bay
00:24in at least three of these matchups this week, Tom,
00:27and if the Yankees are not gonna score five runs,
00:30and they don't have Judge, and they don't have Stanton,
00:33I mean, this could be the put-away series here, Tom.
00:35I hate to say that in July,
00:36but Tampa Bay wins three out of four here.
00:38There's nothing to talk about.
00:39Right, a split is what's absolutely necessary.
00:43Based on just quickly glancing at,
00:44the next time they play the Rays is at the end of September.
00:47They play them, you know, September 22nd, 23rd,
00:50four games at the end of the season.
00:52So if you can't muster up a split now,
00:56I don't know how things are gonna be getting better
01:00moving forward.
01:01The Rays are only gonna extend their lead.
01:03The Yankees are gonna have to meet Treadwood.
01:05Treadwood, no.
01:05Granted, they have a four-and-a-half game lead
01:07in the wildcard, the Yankees, this is.
01:08So they can certainly make the playoffs,
01:09and to your point,
01:10so they're gonna win 90-some-odd games,
01:11whatever it is.
01:12But winning the division,
01:13and having home-field advantage,
01:14and putting yourself in the best spot,
01:16that is looking like a couple steps away.
01:20Brewers and Cardinals,
01:21is this a matchup for the division?
01:22Shocking that the Cardinals are still in this thing,
01:25and hanging around,
01:26which is crazy.
01:27But we're gonna see the Miz pitch in this series,
01:29I am sure.
01:30Big surprise here
01:31that the Cardinals pitching
01:32has been very capable.
01:34McGreevy, Leahy, Palante,
01:36they've been okay.
01:38Harrison, look,
01:39this is a really good matchup this week.
01:40I'm not sure which way it's gonna go.
01:42Kind of a coin flip type series.
01:45I've been waiting to see
01:45if the Cardinals eventually fall,
01:47and they don't seem to do it, Tom.
01:49They're still in position for a wildcard.
01:52They are.
01:53The pitching for the Cardinals
01:54is something that you and I
01:55have spoken about a couple times.
01:57We are both,
01:58we were both low on the Cardinals
01:59coming into the year.
02:00We're both low on the Cardinals pitching staff
02:02as it is right now.
02:03We don't think it's very good.
02:05And I think the Brewers
02:06are by far the better team,
02:08but there's something about the Cardinals,
02:09especially when they play at home,
02:11they're certainly very pesky.
02:13And, you know,
02:14I don't know if we're gonna be getting
02:17a full effort from the Brewers.
02:19I don't know if they're gonna scale back
02:22on Miz right before the All-Star break.
02:23You know,
02:24is that something that we could possibly see?
02:25And they only put them out there
02:26for five innings
02:26just to get them out there
02:27and keep them loose,
02:28but they don't need to push them out there
02:30for seven plus innings,
02:31whatever it might be.
02:32So I think the Cardinals
02:33are not a great team,
02:34but they somehow still win games.
02:37Very concerned for the Padres, Tom.
02:40You know,
02:40not concerned for the Major League roster,
02:42but I'm concerned
02:43because A.J. Preller every year
02:45at the trade deadline
02:46goes out and makes these massive moves
02:48to help the team
02:49by trading prospects
02:50and they've traded almost them all.
02:52Like,
02:52I don't know who's left to trade.
02:53The Diamondbacks
02:55will play the Padres this week.
02:56The Diamondbacks
02:57are not very good themselves,
02:58but they're in a better position,
03:00I think,
03:01moving forward
03:01because at least
03:02they don't look like
03:04the worst team in baseball
03:05like the Padres have.
03:06What has gone on here?
03:07They can't pitch.
03:08They can't hit.
03:09I mean,
03:10this formidable Padres rotation
03:11that used to be
03:13Bueller,
03:14Marquez,
03:15Canning,
03:16what has happened
03:17this fall for the Padres?
03:19It has been a disaster.
03:21Obviously,
03:22this last week
03:23has kind of amplified
03:25that in terms of
03:25at least the results
03:26of being at Wrigley
03:28and giving up all those runs
03:30and all those home runs
03:31and the lineup
03:32just doesn't have it.
03:33You know,
03:34coming into the season,
03:35you know,
03:35admittedly,
03:36I was high on the Giants
03:36and I was low on the Padres.
03:38I'm wrong about the Giants,
03:39okay,
03:40but the Padres
03:40just weren't a team
03:41that I was interested in.
03:42I thought they had holes
03:43in their pitching staff,
03:44not having a Joe Musgrove
03:46and a Hugh Darvish
03:47in there at least
03:48to stabilize it.
03:49Everyone knows
03:49that they have a great bullpen,
03:50but if you don't have a lead
03:51to get to the bullpen
03:52to pitch in favorable spots,
03:54that doesn't matter
03:55at a certain point.
03:55Mason Miller can break
03:56all these records,
03:57but if you're not going
03:58to put him in spots
03:58where you actually
03:59can shut down a game,
04:00then he's,
04:01you know,
04:02a moot point
04:03at a certain point.
04:04And the lineup
04:04just is,
04:05has never come to fruition.
04:07Tatis never stepped forward
04:09into being a true
04:10MVP candidate every year.
04:12Jackson Merrill
04:12never really ascended
04:14into being a secondary star.
04:16Machado's on the back
04:17end of his career.
04:17There's too many problems
04:18with the team
04:19to buy into them
04:20in any capacity.
04:21Okay.
04:22Let's go.
