00:24it's been good we all found some chemistry with a couple different line mates and
00:28uh i think the team's playing well i think there's a whole nother level we can get to but uh
00:32a little bit of puck luck but i just think that i've been able to uh find my game pretty

00:37here which is uh which is good actually it's seven goals in 10 games you guys only played 10
00:43yeah yeah it feels like we haven't played much lately a lot a lot of time in between games lately
00:48but uh i'm sure it'll pick up here soon yeah what were what were your impressions of this team uh
00:53before you came here and then has anything like uh surprised you
01:00um you know i i i saw them on social media i played against them i knew they're hard to
01:04play
01:05against i knew they're big strong physical they're they had a lot of uh offensive weapons i thought
01:10their d was coming uh coming along really nicely with chicken and i knew uh i knew hudson there was
01:17going to be a really good player but uh and then off the ice just how much fun they're having
01:21through
01:22like social media and i saw the handshakes and everything it just seemed like a really close
01:26knit group and so i wasn't surprised when it wasn't just a show it's actually how how tight they are

01:31locker room is is awesome and uh they brought in all of all of us new guys and we're already
01:36so
01:36comfortable and uh just come in and be ourselves and uh a little surprising how just i you know with
01:44oh just how big of a superstar he is legend greatest goal scorer ever like sometimes
01:51like you never know how those guys are going to be but he treats everyone the same and it was
01:56it
01:57was unbelievable just doesn't matter if you have one nhl game or two thousand nhl games like he's
02:02treating you the same uh he just loves being around the guys loves uh grabbing a beer and he loves
02:08hockey so that that was uh that was it wasn't surprising but it was it was really cool yeah that's
02:14pretty cool yeah it's pretty yeah we're kind of used to that around here where everybody just like
02:17like he's so lovable it's just like like it's genuine but i'm also impressed by what you said
02:23that you know you saw the social media stuff and you that you saw how the guys were is it
02:28unusual
02:29take ov out of the equation that like how often does that happen around the league where teams are this
02:35close um oh it just depends um some i just know some teams it's a lot more serious and uh
02:45you come in
02:46and it feels like uh more of a job and other teams that uh you can be really close and
02:51it's really
02:52loose in the locker room so it's just like whatever fits best for your team i thought in buffalo we
02:56were
02:56really close we had a young group and uh we we'd all kind of come up together to a certain
03:01extent and
03:02we've been together for a while and so um we had a lot of fun there too but uh yeah
03:08it's great we get
03:09we i mean there's guys of all different ages here and we're all going to dinner together we're all
03:14um hanging out together and uh just love spending time together at the rink so it's been it's been
03:19a perfect fit for me i'm curious and you're a capital now and i'm sure you've embraced it but
03:24when you have contract negotiations you end up coming here to washington was it heartbreaking a
03:29little bit because you grew up a sabers fan right and you played for the sabers for five years
03:33was it heartbreaking a little bit yeah i mean honestly a lot i i didn't i didn't think i'd ever
03:41leave buffalo honestly and i loved my time there and it was amazing and um i always hoped to finish
03:49my career there but i know that this is a business and that's not always how things go and um
03:55i had
03:57to uh you make decisions with what's best for you and your family and what's best and they're going
04:03to make decisions what's best for the team and so um you know what we saw an opportunity here in
04:10washington that ended up coming to fruition and we're just super excited about it and and uh it's
04:17been unbelievable for my family and i so far you you've been kind of used in all situations getting
04:22a lot of minutes is that kind of the role you envisioned or is you know is this what you
04:27thought
04:28it would be like yeah i didn't know um i think throughout my entire career i've been a little bit
04:35of a
04:35utility knife player i've i've added in my penalty killing as last four or five years in buffalo and
04:42i i think i've turned into a top line player as well and i've been able to produce more consistently
04:48and at a higher pace than my time in vegas with a little bit more opportunity and so um i've
04:55just
04:55been trying to come in and just work really hard and play my game and uh it's kind of fallen
05:00into
05:01place and uh i i think i can i can play in all those situations because i feel like i'm
05:07um capable
05:08of uh i have high i i'm capable of being successful on all two and a few of the rink
05:16yeah so uh i think
05:18the last time we talked to you you kind of talked about bringing on the new guys and just getting
05:21accustomed to the system how do you think that's where you guys have won three out of four you're
05:25scoring some goals obviously you got uh like i mentioned you got seven goals in 10 games um the
05:31team is scoring offensively how is everyone kind of especially the new guys kind of getting
05:35comfortable with the system that that coach carbs has put in yeah for sure for me it was actually a
05:41very similar system to what we played in buffalo so i thought that it was really easy and then
05:44um the other three guys the other three new guys too have had a lot of success i mean vinny
05:49was
05:49leading our team in plus minus before he got hurt and then uh boone and um and jordan
05:55there have had a lot of success and uh they've been they've been kind of coming in uh especially
06:00the last few games i think jordan's been unbelievable and boone's been consistent since
06:05the start i mean he's such a veteran former captain to columbus and everything so i wasn't
06:10surprised by that and i i think everyone's just kind of falling in a place and um yeah i thought
06:17they did a really good job this offseason and uh we want to continue to get better as a team
06:22and
06:22it's been a lot of fun so far so hopefully we can string together some more wins here

06:31the time off right so your last game you got the game winner against buffalo that was uh saturday
06:36night and you don't play all the way until wednesday so what does alex tuck do in those days
06:40off i know that you got to practice a little bit but what are you doing i'm straight dad mode
06:44i
06:45got three kids in the three right now so i am wow i'm in full dad mode right now uh
06:50let's see we
06:51think we uh we we went to the national air and space museum on one of the days off this
06:57past week and
06:58uh we had some family friends in town this weekend so we're hanging out with them at the house and
07:02yeah i'm just uh just trying to help my wife out as much as possible uh she's gonna she's gonna
07:08be
07:09taking a lot of the the brunt of it here coming up with our road trips that are going to
07:13be coming up in
07:14the next couple months so you had to put in your time you couldn't sneak out for a round of
07:18golf or
07:18anything uh no there's no chance i'm able to go to dinner the other last week with some of the
07:26sabers guys and they're in town but oh cool uh yeah other than that i've just been straight dad mode
07:31and um yeah it's been a lot of fun is your wife happy with uh the area and moving into
07:37the area and
07:38the house and everything yeah she loves it she loves it um yeah we're looking to continue
07:44down and put down some more roots and right continue to get involved in the community but
07:48yeah he's from syracuse okay he's used to this he likes 80 inches of snow my wife's from vancouver
07:56but we are we are liking that it's uh a little bit more moderate temperature wise and uh we we
08:03still like that they have all four seasons here we've seen the leaves start changing the trees and
08:07it's nice we're getting excited for you guys the holiday season between
08:11halloween for the kids oh yeah but yeah halloween's gonna be great for the kids so you guys play philly
08:16next um on i think wednesday and i was just looking at philly um i mean it's a long season
08:25they lost
08:25their first nine games and were outscored 33 to 11 now they've been playing better of late they've won
08:31three out of four and they're you know they've been scoring a little bit more goals but man the
08:35first nine games philly oh and nine outscored by 22 goals so just kind of talk about prepping for
08:42philly and what they got yeah i mean you could you can't look back at the first nine games honestly
08:49you have to look at the last few that they've played they've definitely stepped their game up they
08:53have a lot of weapons over there some guys that are playing some good hockey and their goaltending
08:58has been a lot better as of late so you can't take any team in this league lightly i think

09:03that's the that's what's so good about the nhl is that any team can be beaten on any given night
09:08doesn't matter who you're playing against right or for so it's it's a lot of fun for the for the
09:14viewers and uh for the fans so we have to come out and play our best because no team's going

09:20and 0 so you never know who's going to be you never know who you're going to beat so you
09:24just have
09:24to come in and try to work hard and play your best and um try to get two points alex
09:29what stands out
09:30about coach carberry he comes on the show every week and we're huge carberry fans he seems awesome
09:35what stands out about his coaching style i think he's got a really good balance i think he's not
09:41only a good motivator but i think he's really good with the x's and o's and uh and dialing us
09:46in in
09:46that regard uh it's been it's been really good to have him and he's he's very youthful so he's got
09:52a lot
09:53of energy that it brings every day but when uh when it comes down to it he's uh he's a
09:57student of
09:58the game and he wants to learn from his players and he wants to also teach us uh what what
10:04he's
10:04learned from previous players and coaches so it's been really good he's uh easily approachable and
10:09um i think it's been a lot of fun playing for him does he ever get really mad because oh
10:16on our show
10:16he's a nice guy and kind of for the most part he has like a certain demeanor don't you see
10:20how pissed
10:21he looks yeah occasionally like he grinds that looks like he's chewing gum all the time we've
10:25seen it on the on the bench he gets pissed yeah he's chewing gum a lot he is but no
10:31yeah he gets
10:31mad i mean rightfully so you got you have to have that balance you can't just be the nice guy
10:35all the
10:35time so you uh as a coach you have to find that balance and you have to figure out when's
10:40a good
10:40time to uh lean into somebody and when's a good time to just let them play it's alex talk man

11:17an eight-year 84 million dollar deal pretty nice hey i kind of wanted to tell me how big his

11:22was well he probably has a main house somewhere maybe it's in vancouver or something he's got some
11:28lake house yeah i'm sure he does i mean who knows what he has here yeah probably living in arlington
11:33and mclean somewhere over there i'm sure he's happy practice he's most of the guys live in that
11:38arlington area seems like yes yes yeah yeah oh wouldn't you if that's where you're practicing
11:42all the time and you can get to the arena fairly quick
