00:00We got to see the Wizards last night, which was exciting, because you did see a little
00:05of Trae Young last year, you didn't get to see any of Anthony Davis, and of course they
00:10drafted AJ DeBonsa, and you got to see the trio in action last night, and man, you know
00:18we've speculated what the scoring distribution is going to be like, and I've always said
00:23it's going to be Trae Young's going to be leading scorer, or AD, going to be close,
00:29and then DeBonsa, you just see how easy offense comes to Trae Young and Anthony Davis.
00:35Yeah, I mean, I don't watch a lot of Anthony Davis, or even Trae Young, really, frankly.
00:40I just watch the Wizards, and I'm just blown away just how easy the game is for those
00:44guys, especially AD, like if they back off of it all, he can shoot from anywhere, you
00:49know, it's just so easy, you know, he had two for three from threes, he's effortless, he
00:53can bring the ball up effortlessly, I mean, if that guy stays healthy, I mean, he's a
00:58difference maker.
00:59If he stays healthy, we're going to the playoffs.
01:00I think that's a fact.
01:02If he plays 65 or more games, I mean, they're going to go to the playoffs.
01:06He's too good.
01:06I hope that's the case, I hope you're right.
01:08I mean, I just, I didn't see much of it, because I was watching the Dallas-Tampa game,
01:12but the highlights, I just couldn't believe how long this team is.
01:15They're so long.
01:16But we talked about that with Will Dawkins, when he joined us a couple days ago.
01:19Yeah.
01:19Like, they are a super long team with guys like Saar, Koulibaly, Anthony Davis, now adding
01:26AJ to the mix at 6'9 plus.
01:29So you didn't get to see Saar last night, because he's still kind of nursing his foot, but they
01:36actually started three number one picks overall, because they have DeAndre Ayton, who's going
01:41to be the backup center, and then starting alongside Anthony Davis and AJ DeBonsa.
01:47They mentioned it many times on the broadcast, Chris Miller and Drew Gooden, that they've
01:51only got two guys under 6'5".
01:54Yeah.
01:54That's it.
01:55And DeBonsa.
01:56Trey Mann and Trey Young.
01:59They have three Trey's, by the way.
02:00Yeah.
02:02DeBonsa's defensive efforts were being lauded.
02:05Had four swipes, four steals in just 23 minutes.
02:09Point of emphasis, the team had with him right away when they met with him.
02:12And look, I personally don't love Trey Young as a player overall, but offense is so easy
02:19for him.
02:20His range is unlimited.
02:22He's got Steph Curry range.
02:24You saw it.
02:25He had the three-point runner.
02:27Yeah.
02:28What I mean by that is, it looks like a layup, and he shoots it from 30 feet away.
02:33No, it's crazy.
02:34And he knocks it down.
02:35He's so talented.
02:36He's fun to watch, man.
02:37Even though it's a preseason game, it did make me chuckle that the Wizards won because
02:41Knicks fans, they hate Trey Young.
02:44Yeah.
02:44They despise Trey Young.
02:46So even a meaningless preseason win, it makes you chuckle a little bit.
02:51Well, it's weird.
02:52You don't have a smile on a Friday.
02:53You don't have to make of it because I believe Trey and Anthony Davis didn't play in the second
02:58half, right?
02:59Did not.
02:59They both played 17 minutes in the first half, and they got all their buckets and all
03:05that in the first half.
03:06So I don't know what to make of the second half.
03:08I believe they were down five or six at halftime, but it was obvious that the Knicks had their
03:13hands full with the Wizards.
03:15This is a different Wizards team.
03:16There's no doubt about it.
03:18Right.
03:18You have to take them seriously, and they're going to get some dubs.
03:22I don't know how many, but they're going to get some wins.
03:24They're going to really surprise people.
03:26I want to hear from people if you're excited after watching that 1-800-636-1067.
03:31Wizards fans, it's time to start paying attention.
03:34The last couple of years has been about getting ready for this year.
03:37They called it jump season in the offseason.
03:40Well, now we're going to see if they make a jump.
03:43Talking about the height, we focused on the frontcourt.
03:46When you start Keyshawn George as your shooting guard, I think they're saying he's 6'10 now.
03:52Yeah.
03:52And there was the one situation.
03:54He's a bub group.
03:54There was one situation where Anthony Davis rebounded it, dribbled the ball up the court,
03:59then saw a mismatch because Keyshawn had run the floor, and he just kind of threw a lob
04:06into Keyshawn, who had, I think, Jalen Brunson on his back, and just easy bucket.
04:10Not only did he potentially grow taller, he's added some bulk, too.
04:14He talked about he needs it to withstand the rigors of an NBA season.
04:18He knows that now.
04:19So that's great that these young guys realized, hey, I've got to bulk up.
04:24I've got to get stronger to make it through a season.
04:26It's visibly noticeable.
04:28I probably don't need to say both of those words together.
04:30I mean, it's very noticeable with Trey Johnson and Keyshawn.
04:35The thickness that they've added to that frame.
04:37And then as far as DeBonsa, when he takes the ball to the basket, that's where you really
04:43see his athleticism, his length, his ability.
04:46His jump shot is, I think, is going to be up and down.
04:48That's the way he was all last year at BYU.
04:49He has that turnaround midi game.
04:51That's solid.
04:52But yeah, like the three, that's going to be dicey.
04:55He's going to be putting dudes in the blender when he gets right around the foul line,
05:00and then he starts pivoting like he did last night in that highlight.
05:04He's going to be doing that a lot.
05:06Look, in two years, he'll be a first option type of guy.
05:09This year, as long as Anthony Davis and Trey Younger there, he's the third option.
05:13But that's okay.
05:14I'm cool with easing him in with the vets that can fill it up, and he can just kind of
05:18pick his spots.
05:19I've got to say, you've got to, I mean, Saar, I would assume, Saar is going to be a starter
05:24because he's just not healthy now.
05:25And he would take Aiden.
05:26Saar instead of Aiden, right.
05:27So I do like that starting five, though, if everyone's healthy with Trey, A.D., A.J.,
05:33George, Saar.
05:35That's a good starting five.
05:37And it's also a massive starting five.
05:38Yeah, yeah.
05:39I mean, it's so long.
05:40Yeah.
05:41I mean, the teams are going to have some issues with them, especially if they get that possible
05:45Now, defensively, they could have some issues.
05:47They could.
05:48They could have issues.
05:48Although Anthony Davis is an elite defender when he's healthy.
05:51When he's healthy.
05:52I'm just saying, at the guard position, they could have.
05:53And Saar has proven to be a good defender.
05:55I think that's what they're trying to do.
05:56I think they're trying to make up for the deficiencies of Trey Young with the front court
06:01that can play D.
06:02They just need to make stops.
06:04But you've got to like the starting five.
06:06You really do.
06:07Absolutely.
06:08And then they're deeper off the bench.
06:10They're deeper.
06:10I thought it was pretty intense first half.
06:13That's when I went to bed at the end of the half.
06:15I thought pretty intense first half for a preseason game.
06:19I know what I'm doing October 21st.
06:22I'm watching Wiz Bucks.
06:24What day of the week is that?
06:27I think it's a Wednesday.
06:28Yeah.
06:28There you go.
06:30Right.
06:31Got my plans set.
06:33Man, I can't believe we're already into game four of the Caps.
06:39I know.
06:40And then the Wizards has already started pretty much.
06:44That's how quickly it went.
06:45How many more preseason games for the Wiz?
06:47Probably three.
06:48Three tops.
06:50I'm guessing three.
06:51I believe it's three more.
06:52Yeah, so I thought it was pretty exciting.
06:57You know, what you're probably going to see less of is some of those guys who you're really
07:02liking, like Will Riley, for example.
07:04Once the regular season rolls around, his minutes are going to be limited.
07:07He'll be a role player.
07:09I think Bub, too.
07:10Bub, DeLaw, all those guys.
07:12And that's, look, it just shows you that the team has gotten deeper and better.
07:16Yeah.
07:161-800-636-1067.
07:19But there's not a drop-off when those guys come in.
07:20They just have just so many good players.
07:23I mean, there's a drop-off.
07:24There's a reason that they're not starters.
07:25Yeah, but I don't think a dramatic drop-off.
07:28I think there's a drop-off when AD and Trae Young step off the court.
07:32Okay, but my point is it's a much deeper team than in years past.
07:36Yeah, yeah.
07:37Much deeper.
07:38Sure.
07:42I would think Wiz fans have to be pretty excited.
07:44I mean, it's a preseason game.
07:45You can't put any stock into that.
07:47But just the fact that those guys are on the floor.
07:49I put stock into the effort and into the first half of what I saw.
07:54Yeah, I put some stock into it.
07:55I'm just saying.
07:56They look like real basketball to me.
07:57I just don't put stock into the results.
07:59Yeah, I don't know what to put into the final result.
08:02Yeah, especially when those guys didn't even play the second half.
08:04Right, right.
08:05I mean, how much did Brunson play in the second half?
08:07Yeah, I don't know.
08:08But in the first half when those guys did play, they still were down at halftime.
08:11Yeah.
08:11But it was super competitive.
08:13And it's definitely, that's all I, I was really struck by.
08:16I was like, wow, they really have to take this team seriously.
08:18No, it was similar for both teams.
08:21Like Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, all those guys played about 20 minutes.
08:25Similar for Trey Young and Anthony Davis.
08:28Slightly less for those two.
08:30But guys played about a half.
08:32I think Coach Keefe is going to look a lot better, too, out of all this.
08:35You know what I mean?
08:36Oh, yeah.
08:36He's got better players.
08:37Yeah, when you can trot out Anthony Davis and Trey Young and the number one pick overall
08:41in the draft, you're going to look better.
08:42You should.
08:43Yeah.
08:44You have to look better.
08:45Yeah.
08:46So that's kind of like, I think, a big question people had is, okay, it looks like you've acquired
08:51some talent.
08:51Now what kind of head coach really is Keefe when you're trying to win games?
08:55Yeah.
08:56So we'll see.
08:57I think he's going to be okay.
08:59Yeah, Bob is the one who basically admitted to tanking, right?
09:02Yeah.
09:03I can't remember the exact quote, but.
09:05He's like, yeah, basically we're held back.
09:06Yes, held back.
09:07Yeah.
09:09I know some people question that, but.
09:11Yeah, but the holding back paid off.
09:13But he's kind of right.
09:14Got laid at AJD.
09:15No, it did pay off, but he's kind of right.
09:17I mean, some people were like, no, dude, you just weren't that good.
09:20Okay, but they were held back because they weren't playing the full minutes.
09:25I mean, they were shutting these guys down.
09:27They weren't playing the full minutes.
09:27They weren't playing the full games.
09:29Yeah.
09:29I mean, even the young guys were playing half the season.
09:31Yeah.
09:32I mean, they were shutting down Keyshawn and all these guys.
09:33You said it many times.
09:34They couldn't afford to play their guys.
09:36That's why I don't know how bad they really were last year.
09:39I don't really know.
09:41You know?
09:41Yeah.
09:41If they had given full effort and all the guys played their games, maybe they would have
09:45won 10 more games.
09:47Yeah.
09:47I don't know.
09:48And then they wouldn't have landed AJ DeBassa with the number one pick.
09:51And you would have been picking like seventh or eighth.
09:52Right.
09:52Yeah.
09:53No, thank you.
09:54I like picking at the top of the draft.
09:56Well, hopefully we don't have to go through any of that anymore.
09:58Yeah.
09:59So I thought, you know, good debut for DeBassa.
10:01What did he finish with?
10:0213 points?
10:0311.
10:0311 points.
10:0411 points.
10:05It was mostly on drives to the basket.
10:07He did have that one turnaround jumper.
10:09He got to the line, which he led the NCAAs in free throws last year.
10:13So that's one thing he does.
10:15He gets fouled because he takes the ball to the rack.
10:17So I think he's going to be an excellent, excellent player for the Washington Wizards.
10:21So exciting times for the Wizards.
10:24Thank you, Mr.
