'PNP SHOULD CLARIFY BAKIT INARESTO SI LUSTRE AT SI VP SARA HINDI'

Atty. Terry Ridon accused the Philippine National Police (PNP) of applying a “double standard” after veteran journalist Philip Lustre Jr. was arrested over cyberlibel charges while Vice President Sara Duterte was not taken into custody over a grave threats case, noting that both cases involved bailable offenses.

Ridon called on the PNP to explain the contrasting enforcement of arrest warrants. (Video courtesy of House of Representatives)

00:00With specific emphasis also on the case of Philip Lustre, it basically also reflects as to the manner by which
00:12the Philippine National Police had been implementing various arrest orders on different personalities.
00:20Because, as we said last month, the double standard of the non-arrest of the Vice President is clearly at
00:29play on the arrest of Philip Lustre.
00:33There are questions today as to why in-implement Philip Lustre's arrest and why not in-implement the Pungsara Duterte's
00:44arrest.
00:44When in fact, we are talking about the same available offenses over the weekend.
01:13Pero, we are talking about today, the available offense of libel and the available offense of grave threats.
01:23What is the distinction that the Philippine National Police had implemented on both of these cases?
