00:00He told me, you know, he thought up until the day that he put pen to paper in Washington that
00:05he wanted to be and thought he could be a Sabre for life. And a lot of people, you know,
00:10I got a
00:11lot of feedback from readers that maybe didn't believe that statement, but I don't have any
00:16reason to doubt his sentiment there. I think he, there was a gap in negotiations, obviously,
00:25that couldn't get closed. I think the Sabres got a little bit closer in the end, but
00:29you know, that eight year term, I think a lot of fans saw it the same way. That eight
00:34year term was tough to get to the second half of that contract is going to be interesting.
00:39But on Saturday night, it was pretty obvious that the short term still really hurts the
00:44Sabres. It hurts on the ice because they don't have a player like Alex Tuck. And it just strikes
00:50me being around this team for the first couple of weeks of the season, the off the ice piece
00:55is really hurting as well. They were already a young team last year. Alex Tuck was really
01:02one of the adults in the room, the guy that gets everybody together, organizes dinner, dinners
01:07on the road, you know, gets guys together for drinks, throwing parties at his house, you
01:12know, one of the, one of the guys that really ties the room together. And without him, I think
01:16they're still finding their way in that regard.
