00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most brutal deaths
00:05in the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise.
00:10Number 20 Titan – Yu-Gi-Oh GX Titan's introduction in Episode 5 of GX was a turning
00:17point for the series, showing that it wasn't all just light-hearted duels in the academy.
00:22With his fake Millennium item, the hitman was hired by Crowler to take out Jade and
00:27Yu-Gi in a bogus shadow duel, but was defeated after it ended up turning into a real one.
00:42After that loss, Titan ended up becoming the real deal as a member of the Shadow Riders,
00:48this time challenging Alexis to a shadow duel.
00:59Unfortunately for him, he would be defeated once again, and ends up getting completely
01:04devoured by Shadow Monsters.
01:15Number 19 Bones – Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters
01:19You know, Yami Bakura only won one duel in this entire show, but maybe that's a good thing
01:26because he's a bit of a sore winner.
01:27When he wants to assert himself into the Battle City finals, he challenges Bones, who has already
01:33done most of the hard work collecting locator cards.
01:45Bones was in the driver's seat at the beginning of this battle, but Yami Bakura quickly turns
01:50things around with a decisive win.
01:52But, he's not done, no sir, he decides that because they lost, he's going to banish them
01:59to hell.
02:14These three bozos sucked, but did they really deserve such a horrifying fate?
02:24Number 18 Sergei Volkov – Yu-Gi-Oh ARK 5
02:29Known as the Dueling Destroyer, Sergei Volkov is a ruthless enforcer for Jean-Michel Roger,
02:35who relishes in inflicting pain upon others.
02:38After defeating all sorts of duelists, he finally meets his match against ARK 5's version
02:43of Jack Atlas, and ends up falling off the course following his Turbo Duel defeat.
02:54Now if this was pretty much any other character, you'd expect them to surely die from this,
02:59but somehow, Sergei ends up surviving the fall.
03:03Unfortunately for him, a group of commons spot him, picking up weapons as they approach him.
03:12The scene cuts to Sergei's vital monitor in Roger's office changing to No Signal, implying
03:19he was pretty much beaten to death by the angry mob.
03:32Number 17 Raphael's Family – Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters
03:36Raised in a wealthy family, Raphael had everything he could have asked for, but that all came crashing
03:42down for him on his birthday.
03:52While on a luxury cruise with his family, the boat ends up going off course and directly
03:57into a gigantic tidal wave.
03:59As the violent waves throw the boat around, Raphael is completely hopeless as he and his
04:05siblings are thrown overboard.
04:12Raphael ends up surviving, being stranded on a deserted island, but the same cannot be
04:17said for his family.
04:25Number 16 Kali Karmine – Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds
04:29Surely someone as sweet and quirky as Kali Karmine wouldn't have such a brutal death.
04:35Well, we've got some bad news for you.
04:37During her investigation into the Arcadia movements, Kali gets spotted by their leader,
04:42Seiya, who promptly challenges her to a duel.
04:52To say things do not go well for Kali is putting it lightly, as she loses after her first turn.
04:59Because of this, she ends up getting blasted away through a high story window by Seiya's
05:04monsters falling to her doom.
05:15As we all know, she ends up becoming a Darksigner, and then later completely revived.
05:21But at the time, this brutal death left us a gasp.
05:29Number 15 The Creation of the Millennium Items – Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters
05:3499 Thieves Souls in the town, 99 Thieves Souls, you capture them, sacrifice them – oh, okay,
05:41this is getting kinda grim.
05:43But that's exactly what happened to the poor residents of Kul Elna.
05:51In order to create the Millennium Items, Hagnadin rounded up these villagers, massacred them,
05:57and used their blood and bones in a ritual, infusing them with gold.
06:20It's a horrific sequence that both we the viewers and poor little Thief King Bakura had to watch in excruciating
06:27detail.
06:28No wonder he wanted revenge.
06:29It's pretty disturbing to discover that little Yugi is strutting around with a necklace made
06:35of human remains.
06:36Anything for fashion, huh?
06:59Yugi-Oh 5Ds – Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds
07:04Within his deaths, we'd argue Seiya had his coming more than anyone else.
07:08While confronting Seiya, Yusei tricks him into revealing that he was behind Tobey's death – all
07:13of which is broadcasted to Misty through his dual disk intercom.
07:30After Misty learns the truth,
07:32Seiya decides now would be a great time to double down and gloat about her brother's death.
07:44This leads to her summoning Earthbound Immortal Kogoraya, who wastes no time in devouring
07:50him.
07:5613.
07:57Pierce
07:59During his duel against Jaiden, Professor Thelonious Viper tells him about his heartbreaking
08:04past involving his son Pierce.
08:06After rescuing him from a war zone as a baby, Thelonious adopts Pierce and later gives him
08:12his very own deck of Duel Monsters cards.
08:15Now that would be a lovely story, but unfortunately, the wind blows his cards onto the road, and
08:21we're sure you can guess what happens next.
08:23In the Japanese version of the show, while trying to recover the cards, poor Pierce is
08:28struck down by a bus and killed.
08:33Truly heart-wrenching stuff.
08:4112.
08:43Mikey
08:44Yu-Gi-Oh!
08:45Duel Monsters
08:46To say Alistair had an extremely rough childhood is putting it lightly, alongside his young
08:57brother Mikey, the two lived in a war-torn country doing anything they could to survive.
09:02When the conflict gets worse, Mikey ends up getting inside a tank for safety.
09:07But this would be his undoing.
09:09Before Alistair can join him, the tank ends up getting blown up by attack helicopters.
09:18In the wreckage, the only thing that remains is the charred remains of Mikey's favorite
09:23toy.
09:2711.
09:28Grieger
09:29Yu-Gi-Oh!
09:305Ds
09:31As brutal as his death is, we have to give 5Ds credit for how bizarrely creative it was.
09:37After losing his duel in the Fortune Cup, Grieger attempts to assassinate Rex Goodwin,
09:42but is ultimately thwarted and imprisoned.
09:44Taking advantage of Grieger's deep resentment against his brother, Roman Goodwin leads him
09:49to an execution ground in order to kill him and have him reborn as a dark signer.
10:04As Grieger falls through a trap floor, a giant spider shoots a web right around his neck,
10:10hanging him.
10:17As Grieger is hung over the negative energy, all he can think of is defeating Yusei and
10:23getting revenge against Rex Goodwin for his siblings.
10:3310.
10:35Ahmet and Mushara
10:36Yu-Gi-Oh!
10:37Duel Monsters
10:38It's moments like this where Yu-Gi should be very grateful that he even has a grandpa.
10:43In this flashback scene, we see Solomon Moto, alongside Ahmet and Mushara, go deep into the
10:49tomb of the nameless pharaoh.
11:04Mushara ends up falling to his death after messing up a puzzle involving statues.
11:08But what happens to his brother is much, much worse.
11:21As they discover the Millennium Puzzle, Ahmet, who is brandishing a gun, tries to claim it
11:27for himself.
11:28However, because he's not pure of heart, a spirit guardian is suddenly summoned and proceeds
11:33to violently devour him.
11:45Our hearts all melted with the lovely conclusion to Yu-Bell's story, but that heartfelt moment
11:51kind of made us forget some of the heinous stuff Yu-Bell actually committed.
11:55Little Pierce's death led to Viper becoming quite the baddie, following Yu-Bell's orders
12:00in order to be reunited with his adopted son.
12:11But after he failed to defeat Jaiden, Yu-Bell preyed upon Viper's heartbreak in order to
12:16punish him.
12:17They manipulate his mind, causing him to hallucinate a reunion with Pierce.
12:29However, he's not really moving towards his long-lost son.
12:33He's walking over the edge and falling to his death.
12:44Number 8.
12:45Scud and his gang.
12:47Yu-Gi-Oh!
12:47The Dark Side of Dimensions.
12:49With a name like Scud, we immediately hated this weird-looking dude.
12:54But of course, his treatment of Aigami had us praying that he'd receive his comeuppance.
12:59And that he did.
13:00And then some.
13:07The jerk didn't give up the first time Joey stopped him and his gang from giving Aigami
13:12grief, and instead came at him with weapons later on.
13:15They certainly picked on the wrong kid, because in response, Aigami whips out the quantum cube
13:21and it's revenge time.
13:29He doesn't simply give him a clip around the ear or anything.
13:33He goes about 100 steps further and straight up disintegrates him.
13:48God only knows what he would have done to Johnny's steps if he crossed him.
13:52Number 7.
13:54Toby Treadwell.
13:55Yu-Gi-Oh!
13:565Ds.
13:57Toby Treadwell definitely sounds like a name from one of those cautionary tales about a fella
14:01who dies under weird circumstances.
14:04And that he does!
14:05His sister Misty was led to believe that Toby died getting crushed under a wrecked building
14:10during the duel with Yusei and Akiza.
14:12That was not the case, however, as Toby was actually involved in a completely different
14:17incident.
14:18As it turns out, Toby was subject to awful electrocution tests by Sayer to see how strong
14:24his psychic powers were.
14:31Sayer being the evil git he was pushed the electric levels so high that he ended up killing
14:37the poor fella.
14:43We would be remiss if we didn't mention that this also led to Misty's brutal demise, who,
14:49after learning of his death, ended up losing focus on the road and plunged her car into
14:54the ocean.
15:00Number 6.
15:01Bandit Keith.
15:02Yu-Gi-Oh!
15:04Oh Keith, none of this would have happened if you just stayed in America.
15:08For whatever reason, Pegasus just really loved rage-baiting this patriotic geezer.
15:13Keith will certainly never forget the time Pegasus got a literal child to beat him in
15:18Duel Monsters.
15:24So, Bandit Keith wasn't going to just roll over once he lost his opportunity at revenge
15:28in the Duelist Kingdom Finals.
15:31You're probably familiar with the hilarious finger guns in the dub, but in the Japanese
15:36version, he puts a proper handgun to his skull.
15:44This, of course, results in Pegasus trolling him once again by dropping him through the
15:50floor and into the ocean, utterly humiliating but ultimately survivable.
16:11Not so in the manga.
16:13Pegasus uses the power of his Millennium Eye to reshape Keith's own hand into a gun, which
16:20she then uses to blow his brains out.
16:23Number 5.
16:23Earth Ignis.
16:25Yu-Gi-Oh!
16:25Vrains.
16:26They may not be human, but that doesn't make this demise any less disturbing.
16:31The lovable sentient AI was captured and pinned down by Queen and her subordinates, who had
16:37devious intentions.
16:42In order to extract data, they slice him up bit by bit.
16:46He pleads for mercy as each dissected part removes more and more of his memories.
16:57Queen's group doesn't give a flying firewall about the fact that he has free will.
17:02They want what they want, and poor Earth has to suffer for it.
17:06The name is your, and your name is your, and your name is your, and your name is mine.
17:16Number 4.
17:18Arcana.
17:18Yu-Gi-Oh!
17:19For most of us anime watchers, we'll remember Arcana for being the bloke that Yugi debuted the
17:25Dark Magician Girl against.
17:32However, if you were a manga reader, you might instead remember him for his disturbing demise.
17:38As you may recall, the main gimmick of the duel between Yugi and Arcana was that the loser's
17:43life points being reduced to zero would result in their legs being sliced clean off by approaching
17:49buzz sores.
17:58However, despite losing and even having his body frozen in place by Marek when he attempts
18:04to escape, Arcana is spared from his fate by Yugi, who refuses to let him die.
18:16That's when, in the manga, Marek does something truly heinous.
18:21He's like, okay, you saved him from getting his legs chopped off, but instead, I'm going
18:26to amplify his negative feelings attached to the loss of his lover and his mother in order
18:31to ensure that he takes his own life the moment he wakes up.
18:35What an absolute scumbag.
18:37Number 3.
18:38Kite Tenjo.
18:39Yu-Gi-Oh!
18:40Zexal.
18:41Considering how popular Kite is, we're shocked that Zexal had the balls to do this.
18:46During his duel against Misa on the moon, Kite's space suit undergoes heavy damage.
18:51K-Kaito-sama, are you okay?
18:55You're okay.
18:57You're okay.
18:57You're okay.
18:59You're okay.
18:59You're okay.
19:00Despite eventually winning the duel with number 62, Galaxy Eyes Prime Photon Dragon, Kite slowly
19:07and painfully starts to suffocate from oxygen deprivation and space asphyxiation.
19:13All his friends back on Earth can do is look on as he succumbs to his death.
19:25While he does end up getting resurrected later down the line, for many, this was the most
19:30shocking scene in Zexal.
19:32Go.
19:33Go.
19:34Go.
19:36It's just a reason.
19:37I'll be right back.
19:41No, it's all.
19:47Number 2.
19:49Mr. Ishtar.
19:50Yu-Gi-Oh!
19:50Dual Monsters.
19:51Out of everyone on this list, Papa Ishtar over here probably deserved his gruesome fate
19:57the most.
19:58He subjected young Merrick to endless torments in order to follow their clan's strict rulebook.
20:08It was the sadistic actions, as well as the brutal treatment of Odeon that pushed Merrick
20:13over the edge and gave birth to his Yami side.
20:16Now, we didn't see what happens next in the 4Kids Yu-Gi-Oh! dub, and it's pretty easy
20:22to understand why.
20:39Yami Merrick uses his powers to pin him down, but there's no Shadow Realm in store for the
20:44Ishtar Patriarch.
20:45No, instead, Merrick unsheathes the blade concealed within the Millennium Rod and skewers his dear
20:52old dad to death.
21:02Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

21:21Maximilian Pegasus – Yu-Gi-Oh!
21:23We all know how it goes, Yu-Gi defeats Pegasus, Grandpa, Mokuba, and Seto are saved, Pegasus
21:30retreats to his room, and is confronted by Yami Bakura.
21:42The Millennium Ring-Wearing Menace overpowers him with his Millennium Item, and shortly after,
21:48in the Japanese version at least, we get a scene where he reveals he now has the Millennium
21:53Eye, and gives it a questionable little lick.
22:02Somehow, in the anime, Pegasus is able to survive this exchange.
22:06He even appears again in the movie, as well as the later filler arcs, and even Yu-Gi-Oh!
22:11GX.
22:12However, things play out differently in the manga.
22:15Bakura's act of ripping Pegasus's eyeball out of his skull actually causes him to bleed
22:20out and ultimately perish.
22:22How he avoided prison time after this, we'll never know.
22:26Which Yu-Gi-Oh!
22:27death do you think is the most brutal?
