00:00What happens on the 18th month, on the 17th month and the 30th day,
00:05and you can't find a home for a horse because you've limited the scope of how they can protect their
00:10animals?
00:11What do you think is going to happen to that horse?
00:13Where are you finding a home for 80 horses that you can't send to an industry they were bred to
00:19do the work for?
00:21I assure you, this is not a vote of decency.
00:26This is not a vote of moral composition.
00:28This is a vote of big business against working class New Yorkers.
00:32This is actually a vote against American citizens.
00:35This is a vote against people who set out a dream, who put their lifesavers, who mortgaged their houses to
00:41be able to buy a medallion
00:42and set up something that their kids can have in perpetuity.
00:45And what are they left with?
00:47They're left with a council and a speaker who is bullying her whole committee into taking a vote today,
00:53knowing, knowing there is nothing that is going to protect the people standing behind.
00:57The issue here today is that the council is taking a vote to eradicate an industry without no merits,
01:04without any protections for the workers, without any guarantees for the livelihood and the welfare of the animals
01:09and destroying, destroying small business owners who own these medallions
01:14and who have built their futures and their communities off of owning these medallions
01:18and to build them a future for their families.
