00:00Did you know the Lord's Prayer was taught by Jesus himself?
00:04More than 2,000 years ago, Jesus' disciples asked him a simple but powerful question.
00:10Lord, teach us to pray.
00:13Jesus answered by giving them a prayer that would change the world.
00:17He began with these words,
00:19Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
00:24He taught them to honor God, seek his kingdom, ask for daily bread, and seek forgiveness while forgiving others.
00:32He also taught them to ask for strength against temptation and deliverance from evil.
00:38The prayer is recorded in Matthew 6 and Luke 11.
00:43But here's what makes it remarkable.
00:45Jesus wasn't simply giving them words to memorize.
00:48He was teaching them how to approach God with faith, humility, trust, and a forgiving heart.
00:56Even today, billions of people around the world pray these words.
01:01A simple request from a disciple became one of the most beloved prayers in history.
